Beautiful Property. Food needs improvement

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Resort is beautiful and maintained exceptionally. Plenty of beach and pool options. Accommodations were also the same. Plenty of food options but the quality of the food was a bit off in general. Mare and Sakura were the two best options for our group. Lastly - resort offers to purchase cigars but offers no place to sit and actually smoke them. Frustrating trying to find a place to enjoy a Dominican cigar.

The best bar - Enclave Adult

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Lots of pools to choose from but by far this was our favourite! Olga is absolutely incredible the drinks made to perfection every time and nothing was too much trouble. It’s her smile and attentiveness we will miss the most ❤️ Special mention to Jose & Evelyn who were amazing too Thanks for looking after us Naomi & Greg x x

Good hotel in a lovely location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

This was our first holiday in the Dominican Republic & we are already planning to go back next year. We were there to scuba dive & we had an absolutely fantastic time. We stayed in the Adults Only part of the hotel & had paid for the Enclave package. The room was a reasonable size with plenty of storage space. The cleaners did an excellent job of keeping it clean but they did arrive a bit late some days. We were at the end of our floor & they had a lot of rooms to clean & somebody has to be last. There was a min-bar in the rooms stocked with water, Sprite, Cola, beer & a couple of small bottles of wine. I think the wine was there because we had the Enclave package. There was coffee maker & makings, a couple of small boxes of Pringles & a couple of packets of M&Ms - they were replaced if we ate them. Again, I'm not sure if the nibbles were to do with the Enclave package. The public areas are mostly open to the outside & are not air-conditioned - it wasn't excessively hot or humid while we were there so it wasn't a problem. We didn't try the themed restaurants, we had all our meals in the buffet restaurants - Caoba for breakfast & lunch & Spice Market for dinner. The food was of good quality & there was sufficient choice for us to find something we liked. However, these are not like most buffet restaurants as the hot food & desserts are served by the staff, not help yourself. For breakfast & lunch we mostly had the stuff we could serve ourselves but for dinner we wanted hot food. By the time we'd been to 2 or 3 different stations to get a meal together, the food was already going cold. Sometimes the staff weren't quick off the mark to serve people & sometimes they were cooking fresh food & serving so it could be a slow business. They often served a small portion & if you wanted more then you had to ask for it - a bit Oliver Twist-ish! That's why I've only given 4 stars overall. The Enclave package turned out to be a bit of a disappointment - the Enclave lounge was OK but the food choices were limited & not always something we wanted. It is fully air-conditioned so it was nice to go in for a drink when it was hot outside. There is a pool area & a section of beach that are supposedly reserved for Enclave guests but no-one checks so anyone can use them. We noticed that the sunbeds on the family beach were often free but those on the adult only beach & in the Enclave are were full - we suspected that adults staying in the family part of the hotel who didn't have children were using them to get away from the kids. Pool towels are available at various points on the beach & in the Enclave area. There were plenty available & there didn't seem to be any limit on how many you have at a time or how often you change them. The collection points have bins to put the dirty ones in. As part of the all inclusive there are kayaks, SUPs, pedaloes & small catamarans available. You need to have had the training for the catamarans but not the rest. You can have 1 hour a day & need to book a day in advance (at the office next to the Scuba Caribe office on the beach). We tried the kayaks & it was great fun. There is a dive centre, Scuba Caribe, on the Adults Only beach - as well as diving they offer a variety of boat trips but these are not part of the all inclusive. We were here to dive & the dive centre & diving were excellent. There is a waterpark for the kids (of all ages :) ) - we didn't use it but we did go & have a look. There are various slides & a lazy river - plenty to amuse the kids for a while & a change from the beach. Overall we really enjoyed our holiday here & I'd definitely recommend it.

Excellent

Josnayder is an excellent connect 4 competitor!!! Enjoyed the ocean, pool, service and food selection! Family of 12 enjoyed many of the amenities on family side. Had a great time, the staff all remembered us when we would go to the pools, 1 for the road bar and the buffet!
