Hardest working entertainment crew in the business The foam party was great, the dancing was better, there were no lines for anything, the waiters and waitresses remember your drink order entire time, there are speciality drinks. Special shout out to Alex, Paola, Ricky, and Eduardo

Great place to travel with family. It wasn’t crowded and was very clean. The beach was beautiful and had a playhouse for the little ones. The kids club had awesome activities that kept all 4 of my kids occupied at various times. The food was good and there was a lot of variety.

Dreams Tulum Resort is clearly showing its age, and unfortunately, a fresh coat of paint isn’t enough to mask its deterioration. The resort, now over 30 years old, has outdated facilities that need more than just cosmetic fixes. Facilities & Cleanliness: The pools are grimy, heavily discolored, and have visible mold at the exits, suggesting they may be beyond simple cleaning and maintenance. The rooms are dated, and despite housekeeping efforts, a persistent mildew and moldy odor lingers. This same issue extends to the hallways, which also have an unpleasant smell. Around the property, stagnant ponds and water fountains contribute to foul odors, making for an overall unpleasant atmosphere. Dining Experience: The food was by far the most disappointing aspect of my stay. Despite having the ingredients for a decent meal, every dish suffered from poor execution—whether it was served cold, overcooked, or excessively dry. Having traveled to remote locations, including the Maasai Mara in Africa, I’ve had far superior dining experiences in far less developed areas. The resort’s menus desperately need improvement to match even basic all-inclusive standards. Drinks & Bars: If you’re hoping to enjoy a good cocktail, don’t count on it. Every drink, regardless of what is ordered, is severely watered down. You could have 50 drinks and still not feel even a slight buzz. I didn’t see a single intoxicated guest, despite people drinking all day and clearly trying. Eventually, I switched to sipping wine, which was far more enjoyable. Honestly, I’m not sure what their drinks are made with, but it certainly doesn’t seem like real alcohol. Club Membership – Overpriced & Overhyped The club membership is oversold to guests, but it’s laughable considering the prices and the overall lack of value at this resort. For what they charge, you’d expect a premium experience, but what you get doesn’t justify the cost at all. Spa Experience – Beautiful but Frustrating The spa itself is visually stunning, but the customer service is lacking. Pricing was inconsistent and misleading—everyone we asked gave a different price for the same service. The cost to use the hot tub and sauna? First, it was $25, then $20, then suddenly $95 per person. Which one is it??? That level of inconsistency is annoying and deceitful. That said, the massage therapists were incredible and truly the highlight of the experience. They were skilled, professional, and deserve full recognition for their work. If the rest of the spa staff operated at their level, it could have been an entirely different experience. Shoutout to the Few Who Actually Provided Great Service Despite all the resort’s shortcomings, there were a few individuals who truly stood out and delivered real customer service: Myra, our building concierge, was extremely helpful and friendly whenever we needed assistance. Paris, who checked us in, was also very friendly and made an effort to assist every time we interacted. They were two of the only customer service-oriented personnel met in an otherwise disappointing display of service. Final Thoughts – Tulum is a Must, Dreams Tulum is a Hard Pass The best parts of the trip were spent outside the resort. Tulum is an incredible destination that everyone should experience—but do NOT stay at Dreams Tulum. Until this resort undergoes a serious overhaul, I cannot recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of better options in the area that will provide a far more enjoyable and authentic experience.
