Highly recommend Banyan Tree Cabo Marques. Definitely the nicest hotel in Acapulco (and would absolutely be in the running for the nicest hotel in pretty much any city)! Service is outstanding and friendly. The staff remembers your name and does everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. Given all of the damage caused by the two hurricanes (direct hits by a Cat 5 in 2023 and a Cat 3 in 2024), it is amazing how well the hotel has handled the recovery. They are still working on some of the villas, but the renovated villas are beautiful. We booked an ocean view pool villa and were upgraded to an oceanfront villa with panoramic views from the room and the private pool. Currently, only one of the restaurants is open (Reflections - serving a mixture of dishes from 3 of the resort’s planned restaurants), but a second restaurant (Saffron - Thai food) is almost compete and expected to open in 2-3 weeks. The hotel is very private and secure, located in an upscale, gated residential area a short distance outside of downtown Acapulco. It has a laidback, luxury vibe. This is an elephant resort perched on the cliffs above the Pacific Ocean. The violas are extremely spacious and well appointed. There is no reason you would ever want to leave. But if Yu did the main pool area is also extremely pleasant with a spectacular sunset view. The restaurant is excellent. Staff is courteous and attentive without being overly familiar. Adan in the restaurant was the epitome of superb dining staff. The exercise facilities are first rate. This is not the place to stay if you want to swim in the ocean. They have no ocean access. But the views are spectacular. The hotel is currently under reconstruction because a devastating hurricane. But it is still a memorable and magical place.

Over the hotel, great service, Adan was great! Loved the view, the rooms, and the food and was a peaceful and great experience. Ingo was huge help in getting us a good place to eat when we couldn’t find reservations! The staff was very attentive and helped all our needs.

This a long story, but I will give you the abbreviated version. I arrived on Saturday, October 21st for a mining trade show that was supposed to begin on Wednesday the 25th. The property is beautiful, and my villa, number 304 overlooked the beautiful Bay of Marques. I enjoyed the restaurants, the very personalized service, and the well appointed gym. I had a group of six people joining me that arrived on Monday the 24th. By the afternoon of the 25th, we knew hurricane Otis would likely hit us, forecast to be a CAT 3 hurricane. It very quickly strengthened to a CAT 5 hurricane, the strongest to hit the Pacific coast in recorded history. Three of us rode it out in my villa. I estimate that we went through an hour and a half of 185 mph winds with gusts of 208 mph. After the worst of it passed, we made our way to the central buildings. Amazingly, one of the staff came to find us and lead the way. We were without electricity or communications for the next few days before we could leave. The GM, Ingo Brieke organized the staff and guests and made us all comfortable. The staff continued to treat us like guests and served us delicious meals and made sure we all had drinks while we made a plan of escape. We were able to finally drive out of Acapulco on Friday. I asked Ingo for a list of the staff that stayed and helped us. Great Place, Open Yet Private . And the Staff was very freindly and helpfull. This is a place worth revisting over and over The veiws and ambience are relaxing. Just what you would expect from a place such as this.
