Just don't do it . . .

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I am not one to write reviews, truly. But this has to be said; i'm sorry in advance. I always do thorough research on our trips and places to stay, however my husband was here for a conference so the place was decided for us ahead of time. From the minute we walked into the lobby, I should have known. The rug in the massive foyer area was stained and dirty with some poor furniture including a coffee table that looked like it was from a college dorm room. There's a black 'machine' near the front entry pumping out scented spray?? Our room wasn't ready, it was raining out, and there was no restaurant open in the hotel - - so they sent us down the street for a late lunch. The elevators were dirty (mirrors needed cleaning, the floor needed washing and the door tracks were full of dirt and debris). Upon arriving to our room on the 6th floor we observed multiple broken floor boards, it was all gray and depressing, with dinged up furniture and it had a kitchen 'suite' from 1972. A maintenance member showed up not realizing we had checked in and went over to look at on an issue the previous occupant reported. While doing so, the metal valance over the terrace door fell off on to the man's head. Terrible. I walked down and asked if there was a better room. We moved to the 3rd floor. No broken floor boards this time, but still not up to a decent level and again with a really old, gross kitchen (with nothing in it, not a glass, plate or anything - so weird). There was also an old washer and dryer circa 1978, rusted and stinky. I kept the door closed to the kitchen, it was just kind of creepy? The bathroom was subpar (tile grout on the floor and showers needs a good scrubbing and sink handles are full of grime for starters). We were going to the conference dinner on the 2nd night and when I went to iron a shirt, the iron was so old the cord broke off. We waited till they found another one but that took time. The icing on the cake? On the morning of day three, I tried to pull the fitted sheet back onto the mattress (it kept coming off both top corners) and then saw that the under the very old mattress cover there were bits of food (very obviously orange cheetos bits, crackers and other nasty things, including lots of hair and multiple stains) - I kind of lost it in my mind. We were checking out the next day and we just needed to be done with this hotel. My husand and I went downstairs and asked that they please strip the bed, vacuum the bed and then put a brand new mattress pad and clean sheets on it. We were working in the room and it took until late that afternoon for anyone to come. When she did, she came in with a bunch of new bedding. Where did she put it while she was stripping the bed? She stripped the bed and then went and got a brown fleece blanket? Once she was done making the bed she asked us if she wanted us to vacuum the room we were in (the living area - which was completely separate from the bedroom area) and we said no thank you. Once she left we looked and she used the brown fleece blanket (think college dorm room again - it clearly wasn't new) as a mattress pad, she didn't vacuum the bed (our fault, we should have paid attention) but she did sweep it all onto the rug and then didn't vacuum that. We were so appalled we started laughing. Full on laugh out loud funny. Food bits and hair on the floor. I can't believe we stayed that night. I promise you, this isn't about money. We didn't pay out of pocket for the room. I feel terribly that anyone paid for it at all. It was just . . . so . . . bad. We could not wait to leave. Just walk in the front door and see for yourself; look at the foyer, the dirty rug, stains, dinged up and dingy furniture and the dirty elevators - - and the spray machine? Also, tall, lit up Christmas trees? Maybe those are up year round. First impressions make a big difference. I dislike people who complain, but this is a PSA for management and for anyone contemplating this hotel. Sorry to everyone who works there. Except management - and please don't send a canned statement about taking these negative reviews seriously as I can see many more of these posted previous to mine. Don't let people stay in dirty rooms that are in need of repair and for the love of all that is important to the future of your employees and having a place to work, please clean your foyer - - wash the entry doors and windows, get a new rug, buy some furniture that is in scale and clean your elevators. That's just for starters. You can do better. For the rest of you - - just don't do it.

Not for business travel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Business travelers should know that this hotel will add their" historic preservation tax" to your personal card as if it is an incidental expense, and it will be paid on your personal card and not your business card. Do they care to fix that? No.

Weekend in MidTOwn

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Jada and the rest of the crew were amazing, from car valet, to Buffalo Bayou coffee to the rest of the guests, TOP NOTCH. Jada had all the info needed, from the distance to walk to Georgia Tech to where to go for a great meal or an adult beverage. We are happy to have met her.

Wonderful Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had a wonderful experience! The hotel is beautiful and the service was excellent. Most especially, Darrah and Darnell were so welcoming and accommodating. Darrah was quick to give us recommendations for restaurants in the area and Darnell was kind and made us laugh every time we interacted with him. I highly recommend and will always choose to stay here if I am in Atlanta.
