About the Hotel

Embraced by Canggu Beach, whispering rice fields, a quaint fishing village and the Batu Balong Temple, Hotel Tugu Bali is a sanctuary unlike any you may have encountered before. This exclusive retreat on the southwest shore of Bali was built on one man's passion for the romantic art, history and the cultures of Bali and Java. It is the island's first boutique museum hotel, and its handsome touches include nearly 1,000 exquisite antiques. You are sure to be enchanted as you dine in an 18th-century Kang Xi-period temple, or sleep in a traditional Balinese-style pavilion that drifts above its own lotus pond.

Reviews for Hotel Tugu Bali

A truly unforgettable stay in Bali

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Hotel Tugu Bali exceeded every expectation I had. I've stayed in beautiful hotels before, but this one offers something completely different. It isn't just a luxury hotel, it's an experience that celebrates Balinese culture, history, and hospitality. Every corner of the property is filled with art, antiques, and fascinating details that make you want to slow down and appreciate the atmosphere. It feels peaceful, intimate, and incredibly authentic. The staff made the experience even more memorable. Everyone was kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about making my stay special. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. I also loved the dining experiences, the food was outstanding, with both local flavours and international options prepared to a very high standard. One of my favorite parts was simply spending time around the hotel, enjoying the gardens, architecture, and unique ambiance. It's the kind of place where every moment feels special. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Hotel Tugu Bali to anyone looking for more than just a beautiful place to sleep. It's a destination in itself.

A Truly Unique Stay in Bali

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed at Hotel Tugu Bali for two nights during the dry season in July, and it was one of the most memorable hotels of our trip. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome with their warm and attentive service. Everyone was friendly, and their hospitality made our stay even more enjoyable. The hotel itself is beautiful. The traditional Indonesian architecture and antique decorations made it feel like we had stepped back in time and were experiencing the history and culture of Indonesia. At the same time, our room was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained, so we slept really well. The swimming pool was spacious and spotless, making it a great place to relax. We also loved having our own private plunge pool in the room, which was a wonderful bonus. It was our first time trying Indonesian cuisine, and we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was. Breakfast on the rooftop was another highlight—the view was absolutely beautiful, so I highly recommend going up there in the morning. If we visit Bali again in the future, Hotel Tugu Bali will definitely be our first choice.

Tugu - all of Indonesia

Simply a great experience, a hidden oasis in surfers' paradise - Canggu. Very friendly staff with a sense of your needs. Perfect food with breakfast made to order. And finally, the Japanese restaurant was worth a visit - great fresh food, service and sunset view. Art, antiques and a small museum of Puputan for me and many clubs for my son.

My wife and I just stayed at the Hotel Tugu and wow, what a fantastic time we had. 7 days in heaven, the hotel was amazing and the staff just can’t do enough to make you welcome. We would definitely recommend this hotel. We will also be returning ourselves.

Where Bali's soul checks in and never leaves

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Tucked where Canggu's lively party scene meets frangipani and old temple stone, Tugu's location feels less like an address and more like a secret the island kept for itself. The atmosphere is the hotel's greatest feat, every corridor a curated labyrinth of antique wayang puppets, century-old antiques, fabric hangings so fine they look like frozen smoke. It breathes. It hums. Our room offered hand-carved teak furniture, a four-poster bed, and a private plunge pool that mirrored the morning sky. Not a surface felt generic. Cleanliness was impeccable, housekeeping moved through like a quiet tide. Noise was nearly nonexistent (in the room); even with Canggu's party culture at the property's edge, the loudest thing inside was the ceremonial gamelan drifting from the evening prayer offering. The service deserves its own essay. Staff anticipated rather than merely responded. A breakfast preference mentioned once appeared wordlessly the next morning. On value: Tugu is not cheap, but every detail is visible. Come here to remember what travel is supposed to feel like: slightly disorienting, deeply beautiful, impossible to replicate.

I feel privileged and blessed to have had the opportunity to experience Hotel Tugu Bail. It surpassed my dreams, my hopes and my idea of the perfect vacation. Beyond perfect! I don't think I'll ever encounter anything as exquisitely beautiful as the Hotel Tugu Bali experience. The staff is the best of the best!

For several decades we have been going to Bali. In all that time we have never experienced such a wonderful domain like this magical place. Yes, of course the dining, the artwork, the amenities, the accommodations, the kind and constant attention. But more, much more, is the overwhelming sense that this is a most spiritually blessed & balanced place, a place of tranquility and peace.

Simply the best of Bali.

My family would like to say a very special "Thank you" for your kind hospitality & friendliness during our almost week long stay in Tugu-Bali! Your hotel is truly unique - a wonderful museum of Balinese history & culture. The Balinese food is as beautiful and diverse as the artwork and furniture in the hotel. Our romantic dinner in the Bale Puputan, Royal Balinese dining room will be remembered forever! Le Mayeur Suite was a palace for a king & queen! However, the beauty of the buildings, the wonderful gardens & lily pond were all brought alive by the people too! The Tugu staff who were always smiling, always pleasant & always willing to serve! A magnificent holiday! We will always be truly grateful & have these wonderful memories with us!

What a wonderful, wonderful hotel you are. In fact, you are more than a hotel, by far. You gave us five days of incomparable charm, with peace and contentment as our healing balm, that left our hearts full of love for you all.

Thank you for having been able to spend five marvelous days at Tugu Bali. The first impression arriving at the hotel was over whelming! The generous entrance hall is impressive. The reception of your staff was a new experience for us and is a mirror of the excellent atmosphere and service. Instead of just standing at an anonymous reception desk waiting for check-in we were asked to sit down in a comfortable chair, were offered a drink, while friendly ladies did the formalities for us, Extraordinary! We spent our holidays in harmony with Balinese culture and its beautiful island.
