W Barcelona

W Barcelona swipes your credit card for "extra's" on check-in (a normal procedure). Payment for accommodation for my stay had been made in full in advance. HOWEVER - after check-out - they charged the accommodation AGAIN on my card in full. Despite numerous requests - they have completely ignored follow up emails and attempts to have the duplicate charge reversed. I have now seen on other reviews this has happened to multiple other guests. This is clearly systematic scamming of clientele. BEWARE.

The W is literally an elevated stay. From a design perspective, the room does seem a little dated compared to other modern hotels but the views and service make up for it. It's an easy walk along the beach to the town and the Wet bar makes for a great nightcap cocktail. It might be a little out of the way if you are looking to hit up the main tourist attractions in the city center, but if a relaxing Barca break is all you need, W definitely hits the mark.

I stayed here with my husband at the end of a 5 day trip to Barcelona. I’ve been to this hotel many times before for various occasions but never stayed. The receptionist was super friendly and he offered us an upgrade at a discounted price which meant we could check-in a few hours early and that was great. The room was beautiful on floor 23 overlooking the city and the beach with floor to ceiling windows. The one annoying thing that ruined the start of the experience was waiting an hour for our bags to be brought up to our room. Calling twice and in the end going down myself to get them because no one followed up was super poor and the only time I’ve had to do that in thousands of stays I’ve had in my lifetime. Other than that the room’s mini bar was well stocked with a separate cabinet of snacks. Room service was really good and easily ordered through the QR code in the room. The fitness centre is excellent and we had a great time at the spa. Sebastian was brilliant in the spa showing us all the amenities, answering questions and providing slippers and robes. The sauna, steam room and pool are well maintained and I would definitely visit again. We had dinner at the Noxe our host Davida was brilliant and the food was good, cocktails great with the DJ providing the perfect backdrop to those exceptional views. A great trip and we will stay again!

Getting a bit dated however renovations are underway. Lots of noise and the hotel is showing its age. I would wait till the makeover is complete. Adrian at concierge was amazing, as was Shah at the front desk. Can’t beat the views and location.

Since we arrived we were most welcome, Prateek made sure we had a wonderful experience. We loved every minute of it. The whatever whenever team was very attentive and kind all the time. The rooms are super modern and comfortable, with amazing views. The spa is very nice, the water from the pool and jacuzzi were a bit cold for our taste, but the saunas and the relaxing areas were perfect, also loved the showers. Also, breakfast was delicious and very varied, the staff there were very kind. We finished our stay with Paula who gave us a nice check out and goodbye.
