We were two couples who throughly enjoyed our stay at Spring Hotel; we were nine nights in the Bequia Suite the other couple 4 in the Canouan Suite both overlooking the sea from the hillside. Beautifully appointed rooms are comfortable with good AC and amenities. Keep in mind the hotel is on a hillside and there may be steps up or down to the rooms and public areas. The pool is beautiful and the included breakfast, although not varied at all, was good. There is a hot water machine in the room with teabags only. Dining at the restaurant several times was convenient with most of the staff friendly. Wine options are pretty minimal. I would stress the need for a rental car if you are there for a few days. The free shuttle they run to the harbor/downtown several times a day is very helpful but the freedom we had with a car was the best as the location is pretty remote. There is nothing in a realistic walking distance. Would we stay here again? In a heartbeat!

My stay at this property was far from meeting my expectations as it was listed as a five star on booking.com...my expectations was high, the property itself is located on a hillside and very remote...take note to those who are looking for a retreat type accommodation, hiking, quiet and peaceful, one with nature with beautiful views of the ocean in the distance and spectacular mountain views over the shoreline at sunrise and sunset...well this is for you To each his own...but this definitely wasn't for me and wasn't as advertised on the booking site in their description of this hotel, thank goodness my stay was a short one and wouldn't survive a week here or in Bequia for that matter as there's nothing to really do on the island I can see the cost of staying here much longer adding up as you need their scheduled shuttle to get you back and forth from port elizabeth...3 times a day run from hotel and last is at 6:45pm or pay a taxi at $40EC dollars, as I'm used to walking everywhere from my accommodations it was very frustrating to be on a schedule by looking at my watch, so I wouldn't miss the next shuttle while out and about Also what I came to realized about this property are...they only serviced your room when you told them to or it wouldn't be tidied up...imagine being gone from your room all day, then to return by evening and see it as you left it in the morning...I keep a tidy room but would not have been pleased as it's standard at 99.9 percent of properties to have daily housekeeping without informing....and I only learn about this while at breakfast the next morning talking to a couple who haven't had theirs serviced for days while enquiring about a promised complimentary drink for unserviced room The included breakfast was very nice and tasty other meal periods looked fairly quiet as not much happened on property and guests stays out, the whole property is shut down by 9pm, so nothing to do but go to bed...but the kicker is not even regular tv channels can be found on television unless you have a Netflix account or downloaded movies or apps on your phone The room itself wasn't bad, but an uncomfortable bed with the AC unit blowing directly on you...taking it to a higher temp. doesn't help and if turned off can become quite warm doesn't make for a good night's sleep, bathroom was quite nice with a big shower...in summary an okay stay...just not for me.

The spring hotel is a beautiful hotel, with a beautiful scenery and calm environment. However, the staff is very disrespectful this is mainly directed to the kitchen staff. While staying at the hotel me and my family were treated badly by the kitchen crew. On Thursday morning when we went to eat breakfast the kitchen staff were being rude, while we were sat at our table we can hear the chef in the kitchen making comments like what “we don’t wanna hear her talk” and insinuating she was going to spit in our food. Me and my family were taken back by their behavior and the comments that were made because we were polite to the staff we greeted them every morning with a good morning and we always said thank you.

Beautiful stunning views over green slopes to the Atlantic. Very peaceful, just what we needed, with a shuttle service to the water. The rooms were spotless and well equipped. Comfortable beds and AC to cool if needed. Kettle and tea provided and good fridge. Our room had a balcony which took in the morning sun and had loungers. Also perfect for star gazing.

I had a lovely week at The Spring Hotel in January. My room was immaculate and beautifully appointed with a rain water shower in a massive bathroom and balcony overlooking the Atlantic. Great sea breeze as you are in hills. Special mention to the (3?) lady chefs. The food was so good that I ate there every night - and I am very fussy! The red snapper and the tuna folks were exceptional. Staff were completely charming and even ordered in the French wine I loved and Jameson whisky specifically for me. Mind you I drank it! Special thanks to Melanie who is quite amazing in the hospitality business and also to the security man, Alwin who kept reminding me I had failed to lock my rental jeep! The price for both the room and bar and food bills are extremely reasonably. No where in Bequia is more than 15 minutes away - but you are in the hills and there is a very efficient shuttle service for free from the hotel. Having said that, on a holiday I don’t want to be tied down to pick up and drop off times. So if you are staying here, I would really recommend renting a jeep. Brontë at Gideon taxis and rentals provided a fabulous service; she even met me at Port Elizabeth and had all the paper work done in advance. I am going to book The Spring Hotel again for a week in April. Need I say more?!
