Was looking forward to a relaxing stay at a highly reviewed hotel and instead got poor service almost everywhere we turned . Nice front desk person promised us an upgrade with our Amex benefits and instead never got the room promised and took way longer to get it than he told us. Next sent us to one of the restaurants on campus and after 2 hours for lunch and none of our small lunch requests followed up finally left around 230pm after being there sucks 1230pm. Went back to the front desk where we were finally curtly given keys to a different room. This is all in the first 2.5 hours here. No time to explore the grounds because we were either waiting for our food or waiting for a room. At $800 a night this is barely motel 8! Service Pick Somewhere else to enjoy the low country

Really lovely escape -- we felt very pampered. The breeze, river view, and napping sofa on the screened porch of our cottage were so relaxing! Single-speed bikes make getting around easy. Quiet, luxurious, spacious, relaxing -- overall, an extremely lovely getaway.

The grounds and hotel were absolutely beautiful. We stayed in a cottage on the property that was very well appointed. The restaurants had very good food, but very expensive. We all got massages/facials at the spa. Our massages were all good but VERY overpriced. I travel a good amount and am a massage therapist myself and this is the most expensive massage I’ve ever had- $250 for a basic one hour massage. I decided to pay this for the experience- the spa is well appointed with suana, steam, cold plunge and jacuzzi. The reason I didn’t give this a 5 star is the high price, yes, but they charge you a 22% automatic gratuity for spa services. Some of my friends gave their therapist a 20% + tip in cash after their treatment, only to see they were were charged another 22% at check out. When they told the desk person that they already paid gratuity, they said it was policy to still charge for gratuity. So many paid over $100 more than the already exorbitant $250 massage price. Buyer beware!!

It's a soul-soothing place. I absolutely love visiting and will return whenever possible. The grounds, food and staff are all just wonderful.

Love, love, loved it. I've stayed at the Montage in Laguna Beach once and Palmetto Bluff twice. Their resorts are unparalleled luxury. My most recent stay was at Palmetto Bluff. The staff is warm and accommodating and they do little things (at no charge) like creating a firepit to makes smores every night, warm cookies in the parlor and refreshing smoothies poolside that make the experience extra special.
