A really beautiful hotel right not he water. We ate at the pub and the food was about average. We liked our room a lot, in the main hotel, so we didn't have to go outside. I highly recommend. Book off season the rates are much better. They also offer package discounts

We went to Sagamore a couple weeks from our 25th anniversary to enjoy the AMAZING foliage on the ride up from CT and it did not disappoint. The leaves on the grounds of Sagamore and around the lake were incredible. Kevin in valet is who first greeted us and he was very welcoming and personable throughout our visit but, in general, all the valets were great and we never needed to wait long because we called from our room. Valet was not additional in most places so that was a big positive. Check in was smooth and friendly, unfortunately I don’t recall the name of the young woman who checked us in but she came off a little cold at first but finished strong and very personable. We LOVE the room bands and so comfortable to wear we forgot they were on. Also, nice touch to offer cookies at check in and the apple crisp upon leaving. Besides thoughtful it was YUMMY! Rooms and property in general were very clean. We loved our view from 304 and suggest moving the furniture as we did to face out! Such an amazing view from two angles. The amenities in the room were great. The bottles of water were helpful since there is no sink close by and the Nespresso was a great addition. I would suggest adding hooks to the bathroom for towels as well as the sitting area for coats. I also think signage throughout the hotel in general could be better. It was our first time and since it was off season not all facilities were open. The restaurants we did visit were all delicious and view amazing. I even had a squirrel visit and steal an onion ring haha. In general we were also pleasantly surprised by the food prices in the restaurant. The morning buffet was one of the best I’ve been to as well. I almost didn’t have any because it was set far back in the dining area but once I got a peak I was sold. Everything was delicious and fresh although I did notice a drop in quality on Saturday morning when there were more guests and the staff seemed a little less efficient and food quality was just ok. The chocolate chip cookies in the store deserve a shout out. They were delicious but would love to see more snack options. We went to spa twice. Once for salt room which we really enjoyed. Then following day we had massages. My husband enjoyed his deep tissue massage and I had the signature massage which was just ok. I expected a better massage technique so I left disappointed. If I could rate the spa separately it would be only four stars based on the facility itself. I also wish there was a coed area so me and my husband could wait together before the massages but in general we loved our stay and we will hopefully be back.

We had a lovely stay at The Sagamore from Oct 18-20. The perfect weather was the cherry on top! We stayed in Room 206 in the main lodge, which is one of only 4 rooms in the main lodge with a balcony overlooking the lake. We had a living room with sectional sofa and TV, as well as a separate bedroom with a King bed. Very spacious, and the balcony was wonderful with two big comfy chairs with cushions and a throw blanket on each, for chilly mornings and evenings. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Everyone from the check in desk to the valet parking attendants to the bellhops were all wonderful and attentive. There were two weddings taking place on the Saturday afternoon we were there, and we got to watch one from our balcony. The breakfast (either menu or buffet) in the dining room (La Bella Vita for Dinner) was superb with great selections and an omelette and waffle bar. The free coffee and tea in the lobby was very nice. There were always real wood fires burrning in the lobby fireplace as well as in the bar area. We had lunch at the BRGR downstairs n the patio on Saturday and the food once again was excellent. A tp notch stay form start to finish! We also hit the perfect weekend for peak fall foliage. Definitely take a free boat cruise on The Morgan boat on the lake at 10, 12 or 2:00 (We lined up early and were glad we did) Lake George is spectacular!

We came for a girls weekend. Upon arrival we were impressed with the grounds and the location. It was an absolutely beautiful setting nestled between mountains and water. The main hotel is gorgeous. While checking in we noticed that the Guest Service Agent checking in other guests offered champagne, ours did not. I was confused so I asked her if that was just for special rooms, she said that they were out of glasses. We had spa services booked for 1:30, we arrived at 12:00 so we could relax before our appointments (we drove 3.5 hrs to get there). The women who brought us to the spa asked us if we wanted robes/shoes gave them to us, let us know directions were on the wall for the lockers, pointed out steam room and sauna. She didn't move 2 ft from the door and I found her abrasive. I had to walk around and look at the sitting room, steam room (that did not work) and sauna (about 4 people could fit in there) trying to see if i had any questions before she left (i did, where was the rest of the "spa"). The sitting room was the equivalent of a Dr's office. The seats were firm and straight backed (also, who decorated this room?? AWFUL. What is up with that royal blue on the ceiling? Roman table and traditional furniture was not very appeasing to the eye). No flavored water. In fact the water is a dispenser. When I tried to make some tea I burnt myself trying to figure out how to use it. The room where i received my massage was small and, unfortunately, in a main traffic area so the entire 90 minute massage i was disturbed by talking. We had booked 1/2 hr at in the Salt Room-that was actually a spraying contraption on a wall that brought the salt into the room (it made loud noises). The seats were comfy enough (what i would of expected to have in the sitting room), heated and had sound in them. However the side I was on had windows not salt (only one wall, the wall you see in the pictures had salt on it). I could hear people moving things and talking. The up charge for 1/2 hour is $75.00 -if you book a treatment you get a deal and it's $65.00. They take a 20% gratuity on the Salt Room as well. If this was a true salt room that might be okay, this was a want to be. Making the charge seem like a complete rip-off. Next, we checked into our hotel room (that truly was a motel room ). The carpet was dirty, the bathroom door was 1 inch from the toilet when open. The sink knobs were backwards. The vanity was painted (by what looks like a three year old) . It was truly awful but we did spend some time laughing about it, so that was a plus. Dinner was booked at La Bella Vita. The food was a solid 7.5. I was fine with the prices as it was good food. The hostess who sat us acted like her grandma just died and she was forced to come to work. Thankfully our waiter was great. The views on the veranda were beautiful (we couldn't sit out there as sun was setting and it was getting a little brisk). After dinner we played mini putt and some basketball ( the facility was outdated but clean). The young lady working was the nicest person we encountered during our stay. Wish i knew her name so i could give a proper shout out. The fire pit to have smores had a VERY low burning fire (i was sure a child was going to fall in as they were hanging over the side to get their marshmallows cooked).

Our family has been coming to The Sagamore for nearly 80 years. So indeed, it’s like returning home. Our lake front king suite was ideal. The significant disappointment however was the food situation. Uninspiring and basically a clone no matter where you ate. We have had some fantastic dinners at the Pavilion, but the menu now is limited and boring. And the renamed Mr Brown’s Pub is just totally uninspiring. More like a fast-food joint. The only pleasant surprise was dinner at the Golf Club. In all the decades we never ate there and it was terrific! We missed the variety of on-site eating venues - like off the in-door pool deck - and the Trillium. It was fun to see the outdoor pool which we used to swim in as kids before it was removed for years. The Sagamore is no bargain and it seems that the more prices increase, everything around deteriorates. The resort fee is of course a money grab which is a disgrace. The Sagamore will always hold a special place for my family, but I would be hard pressed to return unless the pricing structure is completely overhauled and the eating facilities are substantially reimagined. I have a feeling that without the financial support of the Opal Group, The Sagamore would not be able to continue as a going concern.
