Reviews for Civana Wellness Resort & Spa

Amazing experience!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We absolutely loved our trip there! We did the meal plan and I think it equaled about the same as every meal on site. We didn’t over indulge so if you eat A TON. It’s probably worth it. The classes were PHENOMENAL. I actually was blown away by how good the instructors were. We both got massages and my friend got a facial. I did reiki as well. We were amazed with the treatments. I’ve gone to a lot of resorts where the food and spa services don’t live up to the hype. Civana exceeded our expectations. The staff was so kind and gracious. We really enjoyed all of our waiters and customer service teams! So why did I give it 4 stars? We noticed we used blankets in one yoga class and they had us fold them at the end of our mat for the next class. It kind of grossed us out. The spa bathroom could have more amenities ( q tips, cotton balls, brushes, combs readily available robes, and sandals). The waiting area for the spa could’ve had some tea packets or a few snacks laid out. The rooms were also okay. Nothing fancy. We didn’t spend much time in the room so it didn’t really matter. All that to say, we will be returning because the positives far exceeded the negatives!!

Just returned from my 3rd stay at Civana. This is a special place. From a value standpoint, you're not going to find a better option. Compared to the other well-known brands, Civana is about half the price and offers more of a complete experiece. The setting is serene and spiritual. The rooms are perfect - just what you need (I highly recommend the spa king in winter if you are a bath person). Food offerings are healthy and they serve good portions so you won't starve. But you can eat pizza every night if you want. I met several women who made this their first solo travel experience - good choice for that. If you are at a crossroads in your life, feel stuck, need to heal from something, want to discover your purpose or just want to celebrate yourself - this is your place. Don't just do yoga. Step outside your comfort zone and take advantage of classes like Manifesting Mindset, Intro to Meditation or Numerology. Take at least one hike. Leave time after non-movement classes to digest and integrate what you learned. My pro tip is to not miss the guided breathwork class. Schedule your visit so that you can do this either on the afternoon before you leave or the morning you leave (as long as you have a few hours before you depart). This is the class where most people get their breakthrough - I have done breathwork before but had a profound breakthrough this time, likely because I had spent 3 days centering myself and opening up to the experience before I did it. The other activities I highly recommend are the intention burning ceremony (I do that the first day), attending the gratitude circle at least once, the guided labyrinth and a sound bath (especially if you've never done one). If everyone spent just 3 days at Civana, it would change our world for the better. We were meant to live joyfully all the time, not just in a few passing moments each year. The power to live this way lies within each of us. If you don't believe this, Civana will prove it to you and give you the tools to get started living your life's purpose. I've already scheduled my next visit.

Holidays at Civana

Every time I visit CIVANA, I leave feeling so good, so healed, and so grounded. This place never ceases to amaze me. I was fortunate enough to spend Christmas and New Year’s Eve here this year, and it was the perfect way to start the new year on the right path. One experience, in particular, stood out to me and truly changed my life: Guided by the Herd, an equine experience offered at CIVANA. During this experience, we connected with horses in a way that was deeply healing and grounding. We learned to observe their behaviors, understand their energy, and build trust with these incredible animals. Horses, with their gentle strength and profound sensitivity, mirror our emotions and teach us how to stay present and open-hearted. It was one of the most profound experiences I’ve ever had, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking healing, grounding, or simply the joy of spending time with these wonderful beings. As always, the resort was pristine, with noticeable improvements since my last visit. The service was impeccable, the class programming was fantastic, and I especially loved closing out the year with a sound bath at 11 p.m., setting the tone for a new year full of positive energy. I highly suggest CIVANA to anyone looking for a transformative travel experience. It’s perfect for solo travelers—especially women, as it feels incredibly safe—but also ideal for families, couples, or friends. It’s a place where you can truly discover yourself while feeling completely at ease. CIVANA is more than a resort; it’s a sanctuary for growth, healing, and connection. I can’t recommend it enough.

I will be back! Has something for everyone!

I went to Civana for some much needed "self care" time. I could not have picked a better place! I arrived on Thanksgiving Day and stayed till Sunday, 1 December. I'm not sure why anyone would write a negative review since my experience was top notch. I had a king room that was just off of the pool. The room itself was extremely spacious and minimalist which is totally my style. The bathroom had everything you would need. There was a coffee bar and a small refrigerator that I used. I was surprised that they did not have shower slippers but it was fine. The resort itself was the perfect size - not so big that you have to get around on a golf cart but not so small that you feel cramped. I did not get a chance to have Thanksgiving dinner in the restaurant (Terra's) since I spent the day with friends who lived nearby. But that evening I did go to the bar for a snack (Tomato and Brie flatbread) and a cocktail. Both were amazing. I've read some remarks about the prices of the dishes and the small size of the portions but I thought everything was reasonably priced and just enough. I especially appreciated that everything was seasonal, local, and fresh. Everything was done to perfection. I absolutely loved the classes/sessions that were offered and I was never bored. Every morning I went to the Intention Setting Ceremony and every evening the Gratitude Circle Ceremony. I took yoga classes, meditation classes, walked the labyrinth, and created my own Mala necklace. I would have taken even more classes but I really did not want to overdue it and enjoy and reflect on what I did do/learn. I was in perfect balance throughout the days. When you check in they give you a little notebook filled with positive quotes and enough room to write your own notes. I used it fully and thought it was a great touch. There are water stations throughout the property and every guest received a water bottle when checking in. This is total respect for the earth by not selling overpriced water in plastic bottles. The staff were all amazing! I did not write down everyone's names (thought I did) but I would like to thank Tia who taught me how to really meditate, Dubraskha (I hope this is spelled correct) who lead the labyrinth meditation, the gal that led the cacao ceremony (she was heading to Paris the next day), and the instructor who taught us about the Mala beads. Every instructor was amazing though. The guests were also friendly, nice, and had their story on why they were there. These were my kind of people - no makeup, casual, most people were walking around in yoga pants, workout gear, and even robes. I did not use the spa so I cannot comment on that but they offered everything you can imagine and things I never even heard of such as a Biodynamic bodywork session. I am very familiar with Biodynamic farming (wine industry) so this really piqued my interest. Sadly, I also did not sign up for any of the hikes they offered - I will when I return though. They really have something for everyone. This was my first visit to Arizona and Civana left a memorable impression on me. I will be back to visit again. Civana did not disappoint and has everything you need for rest, relaxation, healthy habits, and self care - in whatever way that may be interpreted for you. I returned home completely rejuvenated and most importantly, I learned so much from the instructors. This may be an annual visit for me because it was such a fantastic experience!

AMAZING, A+ REVIEW OF CIVANA!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I had the most amazing experience at Civana. The location was beautiful, the resort itself is top-tier. Our room was the spa king and it was really nice. You can rent bikes to go into town which was super fun. My favorite part was the classes, starting your day meditating and end it with a sound bath was the most relaxing experience. Face yoga was also a favorite. Lastly, the staff was INCREDIBLE. Ryan, our bellman, was so helpful and kind. Also had a great experience with Tera and the other staff members answered all of our questions! Only down side... the restaurants were good, but expensive for small portions. GET THE CHAI FROM SEED IT'S MADE IN HOUSE AND IT'S AMAZING! But otherwise, I'd probably get food elsewhere. This was a once in a lifetime experience and I am so grateful I was able to enjoy Civana!!
