Perfect mom getaway for yourself

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Totally underrated place! Top notch and perfect for a solo trip. Everyone who works here is nice, food was great (and healthy), classes incredible and spa services the best! Will definitely be back. Every space has been carefully curated and thoughtful. So many classes to choose from.

Unfortunately, the Hotel was not accessibility friendly. Because I have MS, I currently use walking sticks, which I described at length to the Front Desk prior to booking this property. They assured me this was a small one-building property. Additionally, I added these notes to my online reservation. However, upon arriving we were greeted by a less than enthused Front Desk reception. When we learned not only was our room not near the lobby, as previously told, it was actually in another building with a long walk to our room. To net this out, this hotel could not have cared less about my special needs, with the exception of the Bell staff (especially Liam & Michael). While the Spa was incredible, the hotel staff needs to take a lesson in Empathy & Hospitality. It was so bad, we had to move hotels to The Boulders, where they clearly do understand the importance of the guest Experience.

Just what my body and mind needed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This resort was so healing for my soul! Starting with morning meditations, outdoor yoga to soak in the sun to evening sound bath healing…. It was just what my body needed for a reset. I loved they gave you a stainless steel water bottle and had fill stations across the property - that was a nice touch as opposed to plastic water bottles all weekend. Also I loved that most of the food/snacks offered were yummy but gluten free and vegan. I’ll definitely be back again for a reset! Finally the spa - I couldn’t have asked for more. It was great! The classes I loved - intermediate dragon fly hike - was impressed with the guides knowledge of the flora and stores about carefree - I felt like I learned a lot! -body love - i really didn’t know what to expect thought it was light yoga but it turned out to be a body/mind healing for the soul…all the folks in the room were crying by the end (in a good release type of way) -sound and singing bowls - both of the night time classes were lovely - a great way to end each night to ready your body for peaceful sleep.

Amazing experience!!

We absolutely loved our trip there! We did the meal plan and I think it equaled about the same as every meal on site. We didn’t over indulge so if you eat A TON. It’s probably worth it. The classes were PHENOMENAL. I actually was blown away by how good the instructors were. We both got massages and my friend got a facial. I did reiki as well. We were amazed with the treatments. I’ve gone to a lot of resorts where the food and spa services don’t live up to the hype. Civana exceeded our expectations. The staff was so kind and gracious. We really enjoyed all of our waiters and customer service teams! So why did I give it 4 stars? We noticed we used blankets in one yoga class and they had us fold them at the end of our mat for the next class. It kind of grossed us out. The spa bathroom could have more amenities ( q tips, cotton balls, brushes, combs readily available robes, and sandals). The waiting area for the spa could’ve had some tea packets or a few snacks laid out. The rooms were also okay. Nothing fancy. We didn’t spend much time in the room so it didn’t really matter. All that to say, we will be returning because the positives far exceeded the negatives!!

This review was meant for you

Just returned from my 3rd stay at Civana. This is a special place. From a value standpoint, you're not going to find a better option. Compared to the other well-known brands, Civana is about half the price and offers more of a complete experiece. The setting is serene and spiritual. The rooms are perfect - just what you need (I highly recommend the spa king in winter if you are a bath person). Food offerings are healthy and they serve good portions so you won't starve. But you can eat pizza every night if you want. I met several women who made this their first solo travel experience - good choice for that. If you are at a crossroads in your life, feel stuck, need to heal from something, want to discover your purpose or just want to celebrate yourself - this is your place. Don't just do yoga. Step outside your comfort zone and take advantage of classes like Manifesting Mindset, Intro to Meditation or Numerology. Take at least one hike. Leave time after non-movement classes to digest and integrate what you learned. My pro tip is to not miss the guided breathwork class. Schedule your visit so that you can do this either on the afternoon before you leave or the morning you leave (as long as you have a few hours before you depart). This is the class where most people get their breakthrough - I have done breathwork before but had a profound breakthrough this time, likely because I had spent 3 days centering myself and opening up to the experience before I did it. The other activities I highly recommend are the intention burning ceremony (I do that the first day), attending the gratitude circle at least once, the guided labyrinth and a sound bath (especially if you've never done one). If everyone spent just 3 days at Civana, it would change our world for the better. We were meant to live joyfully all the time, not just in a few passing moments each year. The power to live this way lies within each of us. If you don't believe this, Civana will prove it to you and give you the tools to get started living your life's purpose. I've already scheduled my next visit.
