La Playa-best in Carmel

Perfect location. Room was excellent with a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean-which was not very pacific that weekend:-) Staff is terrific. Breakfast was unexpected and delicious. Feeling of the entire place is serene. We plan to return in the near future.

Overpriced for value

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Overpriced for what you get. If you are paying close to 1000/nt. (including taxes), you should have more amenities and a nicer room. Rooms and hotel were dated and small. Decent location but not superior. Staff was very nice, and breakfast was excellent. Simply overpriced.

Wonderful

Amazing customer service. My daughter’s wedding was impeccable despite the crazy weather. The rooms were beautifully decorated, the beds were comfortable and the shower pressure was great. The lobby smells wonderful, the brunch was tasty and had a large selection. Plus the views of the ocean from the hotels were beautiful. I took walks in the beach every morning. I would highly recommend.

Nearly perfect stay

Everything was perfect. Most beautiful hotel we have been to in a long time. Incredible breakfast and gardens. Wonderful room. Loved the wine and cookies in the evening from front desk. Really nice and well trained staff. Water bottles in room are not free.

Hotel is perfect; some food is great, some needs improvement

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Fabulous hotel, food is almost fabulous. This is a romantic, superior hotel. Great staff. Scented throughout with lovely aromas. Fireplaces, romantic cubbies, complimentary treats. For example, on Saturday, there were complimentary aperol spritzes at cocktail hour. Free cookies from 7:30 pm on. Game room with fireplace. Stunning indoor outdoor bar areas. Fabulous cocktails. Unfortunately , some of the food was disappointing. The tomatoe soup was wonderful. The grilled cheese it came with was overdone with cheese that wasn’t all that flavorful and in an amount no one wishing to have a long life should want. Not fully melted bc it was so much. The gnocchi was wonderfully fluffy but the cheese sauce was watery and lacked flavor. The Niçoise salad was a flop; the flavor fell flat though ingredients were fresh and good. The included brunch had excellent offerings, including high quality croissants and other breads. There were breakfast burritos, mini salmon and avocado toasts, and chia pudding . The fruit was disappointing: unripe mango, and borderline papaya. But there was dragon fruit-yum! And unlimited mimosas. Kudos to all staff on all areas.
