A modern, stylish sanctuary in an architecturally rich town, the glass-walled Kinzie Hotel extends to its guests River North’s impeccable taste for what’s culturally relevant. The design is clean-lined, the art is eclectic and the inspiration derives from adventurous settler and trader John Kinzie. This Preferred Hotels & Resorts property – part of the Preferred Hotel Group – is a city fixture for the business traveler, couple or group looking for both escape and arrival.

Always greeted with a smile. Lani is such a joy to see whenever we are checking in. The staff, comfortable beds, and always a super clean room at Kinzie. Lani took great care of us as I booked my room for the wrong date and she made accommodation for us. I highly recommended staying at The Kinize!

Very helpful staff. Pretty average for the price and bathrooms in the rooms need to be updated. Little bit of a walk to the river but still a good location. Prepare to pay an absurd amount in parking in downtown Chicago if you're unfamiliar with the area.

Excellent location. Close to the fun river area. Across the street from the lively STK restaurant where I entertained clients. Friendly staff offering top notch hospitality. Competitive pricing. Very clean rooms. I look forward to returning soon.

I've stayed at the Kinzie off and on for at least ten years, maybe longer. During my most recent stay, the staff was professional and friendly as before. The common areas looked good, but simple things like infused water in lobby are gone. Small touches make a difference, and these are mostly gone. I would now describe this as just a value 3 Star hotel, and not the nicer experience and more of a 4 star experience that I remember. My recent stay was disappointing in a few ways. The bed linens were minimal, the comforter layer was so thin and did not provide much warmth, and the room was cold. No matter how high we set the thermostat it blew mostly cool air into the room. It would take a long time to warm up even just a little. The wall panel control would not allow us to turn it off or to lower the fan. The towels were thinner too. There was a stain on the couch cushion that was quite noticeable. The hotel charges a $25 "nightly service" fee to I assume cover the "complimentary" happy hour and breakfast. The happy hour reception had ok selections of beer and wine, but the snacks are now stale popcorn and stale pretzels. The free breakfast buffet was mediocre, probably about average for a hotel with a free breakfast buffet included in the stay, I'd compare it to a free breakfast at a Hampton Inn. I remember during previous stays that the happy hour reception and breakfast buffet had better snacks and food choices. The happy hour before included cheese, crackers, veggies and dip. There was also a time when the happy hour had tokens and you could use two tokens for a mixed cocktail. I have no idea how many years ago that was, it was probably before the pandemic. My last stay before this was October 2023, and I can't recall being so disappointed or I would not have booked this recent stay. I won't return unless I can see an ownership change or a management company change, and others with recent stays include details in their reviews that the things I list here have been improved upon.

What a lovely hotel. The staff so warm and welcoming. The room's were amazing, so much space. Lovely bathroom and shower. Happy hour at the bar is such a welcome thing, 2 free drinks for the two hours it's available. The gentleman at the bar so nice and friendly. Breakfast was a revelation. We are British and a continental breakfast here is totally different but we loved every morning. Highly recommend staying at the Kinzie - When we return to Chicago in the future, we will only be booking to stay at one hotel!
