Attended a wedding and so enjoyed the beauty of this resort! It began with the friendly, helpful valets esp Nelson & Chris! Each & every valet was so personal & helpful. The we were welcomed by the front desk! Our room had a beautiful view & the beds were so comfortable! The food at restaurants & wait staff were exceptional! Thank you , Chris, head of food & beverages , for all you do & making us feel welcomed! Your wait staff is amazing! Then there’s Ann Marie who worked tirelessly to ensure the wedding I attended flowed in a celebratory way! Just awesome!!! Our stay was so perfect, & we are looking forward to another return! Visit paradise!!!!

Zero stars. Im here now. DO NOT COME HERE. It’s like this entire place is a plague. No water yesterday and now a boil water alert for 72 hours. The coffee kiosk is not open. They wanted to charge me $6 for a cup of plain black coffee from the restaurant. How is that ok?? It’s not. Gnats and wasps are everywhere… balconies and outside spaces. Public spaces smell musty and damp and all public spaces are incredibly humid. I called prior to coming and was told everything was open and working and we will welcome you. HA. Got here and looked around realizing things were not right and again asked at the reception desk and was given the same stock answer about everything being open and working. Oh and did I mention how unfriendly the reception staff was. In fact, all employees encountered looked miserable and unhappy. Pool bar/restaurant…. Not open yesterday. In general, this hotel should not be charging full prices for a ‘resort’ that is not even close to being what I paid for. Nobody has offered anything in the way of apology or asked “what can we do to make this better”. NOPE. Clearly they dont care. I realize that certain things are out of the hotel’s control, such as the water, BUT the fact that nothing was done or offered to help make this situation better is completely unacceptable. It’s obvious that nobody cares around here. My husband and I are here for 4 nights attending a medical conference so we cant leave, otherwise I would most definitely not still be here. As an aside, we are in a 1 br suite. One of the balconies was uninhabitable yesterday due to wasps and the other balcony was full of gnats. And they were both dirty. There is a couch in the living room area that looks to be right out of 1970. The living room itself is barebones. Just the couch and a coffee table thats way oversized for the space. There’s a tv, console and fridge. Not another thing in that room. Seriously, this is not what I expect from Marriott. Run dont walk away from this place. We were lied to and now that we’re here, we see that.

I was here for a wedding and stayed two nights. I only stayed the second night because of the wedding I was attending. First of all, the hotel tried to play me that we were "upgraded" to the Captiva tower. The Captiva Tower does not have a pool, a lobby, any working ice machines, gross rooms where none of the tv's work in the entire tower (mine and my friends' rooms did not), no beach access, your view is of a construction site, and you have to take a shuttle to the main tower. The shuttle was awful and not on a schedule so every time we had to go to the main tower we had to go downstairs and call for the shuttle. When the shuttle arrived, it was either a golf cart or a van. The van was absolutely foul smelling. Next, the pool area was filled with gnats and bees. I was eaten so badly by the gnats my entire feet, legs and arms were covered. It looked like I chicken pox. Several of my friends were stung by the bees by the pool. Our uber driver made the comment to us that all the locals have heard of the horrors of the Captiva Tower. The cherry on top of everything was that the power went out on Saturday at 5 am and didn't return until Saturday evening. The hotel was not accommodating and still charged us full price for everything even though we ate the breakfast buffet in the dark with no AC. I was charged for parking when we did not even have a car since we flew.

We were in the Captiva Tower, which is not the main hotel. This tower was in total disrepair. I assume some of the damage was from the hurricane only a few weeks earlier, but repairs should have been made before opening it up to guests. As for hurricane damage, landscaping was non existent, fence was in shambles, and pool was green and not open. However, those were not the only issues. The room was clean, but very musty smelling, like maybe the AC had been off for a while. There are two guest elevators, only one was working upon arrival and seemed to be barely working. By that evening, both elevators were down, and my mother, who recently had a double knee replacement, had to walk down six flights of stairs. When we said something to the front desk, they brushed us off and said it would be repaired in a few hours…it wasn’t. They eventually opened up the service elevator. Service areas need a lot TLC and guests should not be expected to use them. To top things off, the power went off around 5am the next day and did not come back on until around 3pm. The outage might have been out of the hotel’s control, but there was no communication from the hotel and not a single employee to be found in The Captive Tower to ask about it. Once again, I had to help my Mom get down the six flights of stairs. If we had not been here for a wedding that was on-site, we would have just left.

The Teamwork at the property is incredible and I enjoy the atmosphere the most. This area has been hit hard by hurricanes over the past few years, but is definitely on its way back. If your travel plans call for a trip to the Fort Myers or Sanibel Island area this is the spot for you.
