The Gamboa Rainforest Reserve is a wonderful place!!! A Place to relax and recharge, connect with nature, and explore the Rainforest. The grounds are lovely and the rooms are spacious. The hammock on the balcony was fantastic. Would definitely go back.

Beautiful views and well-kept grounds. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, have great views and A/C, with luxurious beefing and towels. There is a lovely library room above the lobby if you want a cooler, quiet place to get away and read or chat with friends. Food is very good, and servers numerous, efficient, and extremely friendly and helpful. The pool is cool and pristine, surrounded by lush foliage. This is a great, reasonably-priced resort for families with kids. We were here for a wedding, and there is a lovely reception room. Do bring plenty of cash to tip servers, housekeeping, etc., for their help. There is no ATM on premises, though if you have a car, it’s a 5 minute drive to one in Gambia town.

First of all, the resort offers “all inclusive” food, drink, and excursions. To start, when you check in they tell you what is not all inclusive like certain drinks, and especially snacks or burgers, etc at any location. So make it all inclusive or don’t. Don’t screw around in this when it comes to food. Also, all inclusive is not a menu ordered meal like most all inclusives. It’s a buffet very similar every day and at specific times. Hungry at another time? Pay for a burger. Next, not all excursions are included. We were told on the phone they were. Probably a lost in translation thing. Finally, in the tropical jungle a resort MUST HAVE WORKING AC!!! The first night was too late to do anything but the temp in our room was 25 C, that’s 77 F. What a miserable night. The next day after 3 managers and 8 hours, we changed rooms to a suite, which is a double room. The living area will not go below 25C/77F. At least the bedroom is going down to 21C/70F. I have heard many people complaining about this. Lastly, the hotel and rooms are dated. I would never stay here again. I would come for the excursions for the day and stay elsewhere. Also, the sloth sanctuary has 3 sloths. Not much on wildlife at all. Never saw anything in the wild except birds. Birds are the only plus here.

We were here years ago and it was great....a quiet, tranquil romantic place to enjoy nature all around. It's focus was nature lovers, mature adults who appreciated nature at its finest. So what happened? Apparently someone in their marketing department decided to over-commercialize the place and it is now open to cruise ships and other tours with huge buses coming and going. Along with that comes the young family scene -- many insolent, undisciplined infants and children screaming day and night/blasting TVs in their rooms, to completely disrupt the solitude and natural dignity of the place. These kids, as well their thoughtless parents, would probably not know the difference between a nature preserve and Disney World; they really belong at the latter. So, in concise terms, the magic of this place is gone to those of us seeking the tranquility of the earth's music -- we'll need to look elsewhere. I know I will.
