About the Hotel

A landmark hotel in Scotland’s biggest, most vibrant city. Kimpton Blythswood Square has been a prestigious address since the early 19th century. Overlooking a private garden square, the hotel's Georgian townhouses were originally home to wealthy merchants and were later turned into the club headquarters for The Royal Scottish Automobile Club. Today, the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel has been spruced up for the 21st century, with a multi-million pound refurbishment that has refreshed all of the existing guest rooms and suites with an elegant new look and the launch of the 1,900 sq. feet two-bedroom Penthouse Suite with its own private balcony, media room and dining area. The Hotel also hosts a 10,000 sq. ft. Spa facility with 9 luxury treatment rooms, a thermal suite, 2 relaxation pools, and a lounge and café area.

Reviews for Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel

Wonderful stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

What a fabulous stay. This trip is just what the doctor ordered. The staff are simply wonderful and honestly could not have done anymore to make my stay absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The entire front of house team, from Kara to Ivo and everyone in between ensured my stay was that bit of Luxury I was so in need of. As promised I shall be back in the new year and very much look forward to my next visit. Best regards to team Blythswood, Merry Christmas and thank you for another wonderful year of hospitality. Best, Jordan.

Disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed here myself and my mum for 1 night recently and I was so disappointed with the sub standard service …. I got married here in 2016 and had a wonderful experience, everything was perfect! We arrived to no doorman, or no offer of help with our luggage. Luckily I had booked this on promotion which when asked at receprion they had nothing on thier system stating the “half boatd” reservation. It was quickly rectified by Chelsea the only member of staff that was lovely and friendly ! The rest looked like they would rather be anywhere else than at work ! Dinner was ok … Breakfast poor choice of buffet and cooked option of “vegan” hash was watery and unplesant ! Room comfortable but tiny ! I’m so glad I booked this on offer as I would have been extremely unhappy if i’d paid full price for 2 star service in this place ! 5 stars, it definetly not. The spa is clearly keeping the star ranking high.

Great decor and super staff.

Being greeted and assisted on the front steps by Big David the doorman set the high standard of the staff's attitude. Hotel décor was classy as you would expect. We loved the modern room with real marble bathroom walls and comfortable seating area. The beds were on castors and did give us a couple of unexpected wee trips! I found the pillows far too soft and maybe a choice would be nice. As someone else has mentioned, although it was good to have chocolate biscuits etc, one packet of crisps in a twin room was a bit odd. We had an exceptional, if expensive, dinner however the breakfast was a disappointment. More like a three star hotel. The cooked food on the buffet was no longer hot. Our major gripe and frustration was the restricted hours residents could use the spa including the pools, saunas etc. Early morning and tea time till early evening only. I think in a five star hotel where guests are paying a good deal of money that the spa should be available to them during its opening hours, as should lockers. I've never encountered this before. In the morning we felt rushed to get in a short swim before breakfast closed at 10am. It was a special occasion to celebrate my daughter's birthday and rushing around wasn't something we wanted to include in our day. I have noticed other reviews complaining about this and I do hope the hotel will reconsider its policy.

Lovely Red Headed Manager

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Myself and my husband dinned in the restaurant after the a spa day. My husband has Parkinson’s and kept spilling his wine and food everywhere. The young manager with red hair really took her time with him and even gave him a straw to help which made both of us feel at ease she really went out her way to make and older couple like us that don’t go out comfortable. Very impressed by her people skills.

Glasgow weekend

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

This hotel is very disappointing and is very definitely not 5* 5* prices but not service or facilities that would be normal for that rating. Rooms are ok but restaurant area a bit chaotic particularly at breakfast, needs management of the team there who are all inexperienced.
