With palatial accommodations steeped in Southern tradition, the Capital Hotel has earned its renown as "the front porch of Little Rock." Its grand opening in 1870 was indeed grand, with the first electric light fixture installed in a hotel in the South and an elevator massive enough to carry a horse. Since then, this Arkansas institution, a Preferred Boutique property, part of the Preferred Hotel Group, has served as both a welcome respite with luxurious rooms and delectable cuisine and a doorway to the illustrious historic monuments and dynamic contemporary culture of the region for business and leisure travelers alike. Ninety-four lavish rooms, including 15 semi-suites and four suites, envelope guests with designer linens, free Wi-Fi and, from most windows, expansive views of downtown Little Rock. Dine on-site in the elegant Ashley's restaurant or socialize with the city's movers and shakers at the Capital Bar and Grill. Both feature Chef Lee Richardson's "New Americana Cuisine," menus handcrafted from local and seasonal ingredients with cutting-edge techniques.

What a wonderful hotel. Driving from Louisville to Phoenix for Thanksgiving — Little Rock seemed like a good place to stop. The Capital Hotel is right downtown. Beautiful lobby. Excellent and professional staff. We stayed in a superior king that was the perfect size for the two of us. The bed was very comfortable. I counted 4 USB ports for charging. Very large tv where I could log onto my Netflix account. Shower was excellent although I wish the tub had grab bars. Even the toilet paper was great. A little more expensive than a roadside hotel. My husband hates staying in a “real” hotel downtown while on road trips because of the hassle of valet parking and tipping etc, but in my opinion it worth every dollar. We ate dinner at be at the hotel. My husband had a delicious meatloaf with mashed potatoes; I had a wild mushroom risotto that was pretty good (needed more mushrooms).

Stayed two nights at this hotel for a mini vacation. Historic Hotel located downtown Little Rock and across from the River Area. All of the staff is very helpful and friendly. We had a deluxe king room which overlooked Market Street with floor to ceiling windows. Bed was very comfortable. The Capital Bar and Grill served very well prepared food and good wines and cocktails. Even with an area power outage the staff was great in the restaurant. Highly recommend staying here!

This is the most magnificent hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying at! The property itself is gorgeous, our large room was perfect, and the bed was so very comfortable with the most fluffy pillows! We ate at the Capital Grill and while the portions were rather small, it did leave room for dessert which was delicious. Breakfast in the One Eleven restaurant was superb both mornings. We were able to watch the 4th of July fireworks from the porch of the hotel. A great experience! Compared to similar priced hotels, the Capital Hotel was head and shoulders above and exceeded my expectations both in comfort and value. You have to stay here if in Little Rock! I know I will again.

We had the privilege of staying four nights at the Capital Hotel in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas. What a wonderfully comfortable, classical but unpretentious place to stay, and a great restaurant. I can’t even compare it to a standard branded place. It was just excellent, from the curbside assistance to the bellmen and hostesses to the room and restaurant staff. It has been around for a few years and could use some refurbishment, but it will be closed for May for precisely that. We have booked another stay for the first week of June and look forward to returning. Fabulous.
