Bad hotel to stay in ny

The air condition suck, the carpets are dirty. The roof top views are great but breakfast seems like a war room everything is left at the tables forever. One has to clean them you need to request to refill the coffee containers and milk etc. The only good thing is location

Always enjoyable!

Great location and close to perfect! Doorman Tim was a pleasure and didn’t hesitate to help us. He gave us some great tips and made our arrival very easy. This was our second time staying at Park Lane and both times have been great. Rooms are spacious, clean and I love the option to hear “bird noises” on my tv. My only complaint is they need to improve on tiny things. Extra toilet paper in rooms, gym didn’t have wipes, and making sure AC is working properly. They do take your complaints very seriously and try to remedy it right away. We will definitely be returning as this is probably one of my favorite hotels in this area!

One of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had……..

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Over the last thirty years or so I have had the privilege and pleasure of staying in some fantastic hotels around the world. Raffles in Singapore, The Palace Hotel in Tokyo and so many more left there lasting impressions on me as I moved on to my next hotel experience right up to today where I find myself in wonderful New York, the city that does indeed never sleep. I however do need to sleep and when deciding on where to celebrate this special 40th Anniversary trip I did consider many hotels. I seemed to be spoiled for choice if I’m honest but my goodness I am so thankful I chose The Park Lane Hotel. From the second my wife and I stepped through those revolving doors on Central Park South alongside Central Park itself we have been made to feel so very special by every member of the fabulous Park Lane hotel team. From Tim, one of the ‘ever smiling’ and welcoming doorman who somehow managed to remember both of our names throughout our stay ( can you imagine how many people pass by him every day ) on to the reception where we were warmly welcomed by Manuel and then Ishmael who together conspired to ensure that our room would be absolutely fabulous for our stay with a view over Central Park for a nominal additional nightly charge but included the breakfast for us at the amazing Darling restaurant and bar on the 47th floor. I’ll come to that shortly. With regards to the view from that room that we were given I’ve genuinely struggled during my week here to think of a better more iconic view than this one looking over the expansive Central Park. I’ve enjoyed desert views, sea views, Mountain views but ‘this’ view was really special. After lengthy days out in Manhattan my wife and I would sit back and soak up that view looking over Central Park at nightfall watching the sparkly dots in the night sky making there approach to JFK airport and the “disco lights” on the police cars making there frequent patrols around the narrow roads in the park below us ushering lingering tourists out………The roomsize was perfect, the bed was comfortable as were the pillows and the bathroom was more than adequate for our needs and was kept well during our stay……BTW we never shut the blinds once . As highlighted earlier breakfast was to be at The Darling restaurant on the 47th floor. There, on our first morning we met Betty……Betty was the “inimitable and charismatic” manager of the breakfast experience at The Darling restaurant. I make the distinction as it is a completely different team in the evening. Every morning she ushered us in with a warm welcome of Good morning Mr & Mrs D and then set about settling us in at a lovely table overlooking that fabulous view before disappearing off to get us a couple of cappuccino’s ……. She was ably assisted by Dwight, and Edwin. She along with the guys set us up wonderfully for the day ahead, every day. Now, as I alluded to The Darling restaurant & bar does transform itself in to a really pleasant rooftop venue most nights……I say most nights as it is closed on a Sunday and Monday which was a shame as it would be a perfect place to visit any night with that fabulous Central Park view to soak up…… The very charming and approachable Josep Griz and his team pick up the baton for the guest experience in the evening. I took the liberty of contacting Josep prior to my arrival to book a table for my wife and I’s special evening as I came to realise how popular, quite rightly, this venue is to non guests. He totally accommodated my requests and went out of his way to ensure everything was perfect for us on that particular evening. It was a genuine pleasure getting to know him a little bit and I was so impressed by even though he was clearly very busy he still took the time to talk with my wife and I indulging us with interesting stories of previous owners of the hotel. I would like to highlight two other members of Josep’s team for different reasons……on that Saturday night I realised how tremendously popular Darling restaurant and bar was …… frenetic even. With this, standards can easily slip, but Isaiah, who was looking after our table, continuously took the time to make sure our evening was as we hoped it to be…..And Miranda who did step up when we did have a little issue. I’m not going to spoil this review by even mentioning it any more but had to reference it as she was the epitome of professionalism to quickly take care of it…..and more importantly us. Thank you Miranda. So, I’m nearly done with this review except to mention Zoe Lopez, one of the hotels management team who I sought out a day or so ago. I wanted to take the time to highlight to her how fabulous her team had been and how much of a pleasure it had been for us celebrating our special occasion in The Park Lane hotel. When I asked to speak with a manager there was a bit of trepidation in the concierge teams faces and indeed her face as she approached me on my request. I believe this is because when something goes wrong in a hotel people are very quick to complain or criticise but more reticent to praise when it goes well. Zoe was relieved that I was there for the latter. It’s easy to tip good service which we did ofcourse throughout our stay but I believe it’s more valuable to have a manager feed back positive praise to team members so they know they are getting it right…..and my goodness The Park Lane Hotel team are getting it absolutely spot on. Thank you in advance for passing on my feedback and maybe in some small way this review helps too. Thank you and we hope to be back in the future and will definitely not waste time considering anywhere else in the city that never sleeps to stay….. I menti
