Reviews for Sofitel New York

Third stay and I’ll keep coming back.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I’ve stayed at Sofitel New York City three times, and each visit has been exceptional. The beds are incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful stay. The rooms are well-appointed, and the staff is consistently friendly and accommodating, going out of their way to make you feel welcome. The on-site restaurant and bar is excellent, offering great dining options. The hotel’s location is unbeatable—just a short walk to Times Square and Fifth Avenue for shopping, making it the perfect base for exploring the whole city. I brought my family here to enjoy New York City for Christmas and Christina was so helpful in booking it a few months in advance. She suggested the perfect room which included a king suite and connecting queen room. The set up was perfect for us and we were welcomed with cookies and fruit and a lovely little Christmas tree. There were Nespresso machines in the rooms and the mini-bars were well stocked. The turndown attendant very thoughtful of making sure our rooms were tidied up a bit and of course, brought chocolate every night. And, she even left the Bose stereo on Christmas music. That was such a nice touch when returning to the room after an exhausting day. The concierge, Mark, and the porters made the stay even more convenient by making recommendations as well as arranging a ride or hailing a cab for us. I highly recommend! Can’t wait to go back!

Not a 4* property

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

As an avid Accor member, I had high expectations for this property, but I was let down. The Good: -comfy beds -quiet -beautiful lobby -Gaby’s restaurant (great service and ambiance) The Not so good: -booked 2 rooms for 2 couples but only got free drink vouchers for 1 room (I’ve stayed at many Accor properties and this has never happened before) -this is not a 4* hotel, it’s a 3* (only 2 elevators working for guests, rooms are dated, furniture is old, odd and doesn’t match, 1/2 lights in the room didn’t work, shower didn’t drain, 1st generation iPad docking station beside bed, really old technology in general, small TV, carpet and furniture very worn looking) Overall, there are many similar properties in NYC that are much cheaper than this over-priced 3* hotel. Unless you are Accor brand loyal (like myself) I think you can fine better, more affordable accommodation elsewhere -

Beautiful hotel, great location, but poor check in experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This hotel would have easily got 5 stars were it for the check in process, on arrival asked for passport and credit card, i was aware of the security deposit and urban fees, on seeing what was being charged onto my card I could only see a charge for the security deposit, which sat pending till now I'm home, however now I am home I have been charged the urban fee, i had previously messaged the hotel re how much this would be and was told it covered a.$25 daily drinks voucher, we never once received this/were offered/ made aware of this during check in, I assumed we were not charged for this as it didn't show on my card payment etc. This was however the only downside of the hotel, rooms are incredibly quiet (I have been to ny twice before and became accustomed to the all night sirens etc) very surprised to hear nothing this time, rooms clean and a fantastic size, have a fantastic view of the summit, beds are very comfortable, exaclty whats needed after a day of sightseeing, however no kettle in the room, which was a big let down, hotel is well situated, right in the middle of everywhere you want to be, bonus for the beautiful christmas decor in the lobby ❤️

Very Nice Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This is a nice hotel located on a quiet stretch of 44th near Times Square and Grand Central. I was upgraded to a suite, and it was very large and comfortable, with a large desk, a strong wifi signal and a decent number of outlets. Service was consistently top notch too. I will happily return.

Firstly, the quality of the hotel is subpar for what I expect of a Sofitel. It is dated, drab and worn. The pictures online suggest a grand lobby/entrance and a bit of old-style New York glamour - it is none of those things. The rooms are very basic - no luxury elements at all - just two beds and dresser in our room. Our first room had broken items (closet, safe) and we were transferred to a new room which was fine and equally as basic.

We also ate at the GABY onsite restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, which was terrible and the service was mediocre.

Net net, income would rank this a 3 star hotel experience and not at all the caliber of hotel I expected when I booked the Sofitel.
