Perhaps no metropolis is more alive than New York City. Big Apple sightseeing, the dramatics of Broadway, and world-class shopping and art are what make this town so exhilarating. AKA Sutton Place, an ultra hip retreat, is another poignant reason for visiting this urban oasis. Located on East 56th Street in the Sutton Place neighborhood overlooking the East River - the gateway to Manhattan's Upper East Side - the hotel provides a residential feel coupled with all the luxury hotel amenities and services you can expect. Best described as part loft, part hotel, guests can enjoy a stay with the convenience of a fully-equipped kitchen, roomy living area and technological necessities.

I stayed at AKA Sutton for a month while I was relocating to Manhattan and looking for a year round rental. It’s a great place to stay! All the staff here are truly wonderful: welcoming, helpful, responsive. I liked the neighborhood which is quiet but easily walkable to midtown, proximity to good grocery/health food stores, and enjoyed being able to swim in the pool. The room size is pleasant and livable for an extended stay - a home away from home. But most of all I appreciated the genuine hospitality of the place - it’s in the DNA of AKA culture.

If you are staying in New York for a long stay, dont even think about staying anywhere else. This place has everything you need as does the surrounding neighborhood. The apartment we stayed in was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed in terms of ammenities. What makes this place particularily unique are the people working there. They went above and beyond in making us feel welcome and cared for every single day.

The property has absolutely everything you may need, such as, business center, bar, lounge, movie room, indoor pool, gym, and much more. The rooms/apartments are perfectly equipped and the most important portent is the quality of all the staff members. Once you try it you will never go to any other place

I don’t think you could find a better extended stay apartment in New York City. The midtown east side location is residential and very convenient to restaurants, grocery stores public transport and pretty much anything else you might need. The staff is exceptionally professional, competent, and friendly. The kitchen is well equipped. Air conditioning worked very well. The lounge with coffee in the morning and drinks available in the late afternoon early evening enhanced the stay.

After a bad AirBNB experience, my wife and I started looking for another extended stay location. On our list of places to visit was AKA Sutton Place. It's near the 59th Street Bridge and Roosevelt Island Tram. This was an area we were unfamiliar with. It's located at 330 E 56th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues. This is a tree lined street within 3 blocks of Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, TJ Max, Duane Reed/Walgreen, Morton Williams an upscale grocery store and the Eastside Esplanade walking/riding area on the East River. It's a full neighborhood with barber shops, beauty salons, bodegas, restaurants, liquor stores and almost anything can be delivered to AKA. Once we entered the lobby and met Ernie our decision was made. Ernie was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He has now been with AKA for 18 years. He explained the facility, the amenities (pool, workout room, lobby/lounge) and took us on a tour. It was like we had been friends for years. This is how we felt with all of the staff. In June 2024 we spent our third 30 day stay. We have already booked June 2025. The staff (Ernie, Manuela, Francisco, Jorge, John, Ana and housekeeping and engineering)) made us feel so comfortable and at easy with every stay. They are each so familiar with NYC it's like having a personal, human source of information. The AKA has 1 and 2 bedroom units with one or two bathrooms. There is Wi-Fi service. There are computers and a printed in a small business center in the lobby. Though the kitchen (stove, micro wave and full refrigerator) is sparsely stocked it is adequate for two. In the past we have FedExed packages in advance of our stay, if we needed extra items. For example there is no DVD player or Streaming services. So we have brought a DVD player and our Amazon Fire stick. You can schedule weekly housekeeping. And if you need it, there is a temperature controlled wine cellar. The subway station at Lexington and 3rd Avenue is about three blocks from the AKA. From that station the subway can get you to any place on Manhattan as well as Brooklyn and Coney Island. Taxis are easily available on 1st or 2nd Avenue and Uber is also available. AKA Sutton Place has all you'll need or want for a wonderful stay in NYC.
