I chose not to use points on this stay (lifetime titanium elite member) as have a decent corporate rate here. I haven’t stayed at this property since 2017 so I was looking forward to it as I heard they’d refresh it and made upgrades… Not the case! Another reason why I chose to stay here versus the Carlisle was that the concierge service had been top-notch in my prior experiences and was able to secure hard to get dinner reservations not so much. I was told I was upgraded to a grand Lux category room, so I was very excited and looked at pictures online and felt it was just right below a suite so low, and behold my reaction when it was just felt like a normal room, and if this was bigger than normal rooms. I would’ve been really disappointed with my original room I guess. One of the biggest reasons why I give just an average review is they have downgraded the breakfast reward to just the Continental and the breakfast restaurant basically feels like a glorified cafeteria that is just checking the box for a restaurant. It was a pretty pathetic continental breakfast offering with a sticker price of $46 which is actually robbery but because I think almost everybody is receiving that benefit they have to just meet a criteria. The Butler service is really a joke now you’re able to get coffee delivered after 12 PM only on your day of arrival, you only get one coffee service per day before 12 PM, offering Butler service is really a joke! I would like to call out, though the breakfast service of Zika, great attitude, and a great asset for the hotel.

Excellent hotel and staff. Could not ask for better. The rooms are elegant and yet modern and super clean. The best hotel I have stayed at in New York. Highly recommend it and we will definitely return here on our next visit. The lobby has been recently renovated and was stunning during our visit with its Christmas decor. The bar downstairs serves the best cocktails. The butler service was helpful and the in room dining was so good that we ordered breakfast in every day. Must order the blueberry pancakes and the mushroom flatbread although everything else on the menu was also delivered perfectly.

It’s just not the same experience anymore. It has become the spirit airlines of luxury hotels. We just felt buckled and dimed at every turn. When you pay that much you expect a little more. Yes, you get a nice room an a great location. But every where you turn there’s another fee. You can’t get a cup of coffee in the morning unless you spend $13 for a to go cup. You can use the “butler service” but there paying system still doesn’t work to contact them and you have to get a whole service delivered. We had breakfast one morning. 3 mini muffins, a yoghurt and 2 cups of coffee. $83. Really?

The butler service is unparalleled with every whim that my 7 year old could imagine taken care of. Cookies and tea set up with a bubble bath? Done. On top of that, the two butlers we had were so friendly and had worked at the hotel for decades. The employees here seemed happy and happy employees take care of their guests! Also, they found us a last minute baby sitter for the evening. So great! It’s the little things that matter!
