Of my favorites in Oslo, this is definitely one worth mentioning. Fantastic location right next to Aker Brygge. Very modern. Good breakfast. Nice staff. Modern and clean rooms. In the heart of Oslo, with views towards the Oslofjord, canals or walking streets in the area. I prefer views over water but believe all rooms have a own personal experience.

Pro tip - Book using the IPrefer option (direct hotel booking) to save 100-150 USD per night. The spa was absolutely worth it - make time for the general use - it costs about 25 USD for 1.5 hours.

The rooms are large, the bed was very comfortable (not soft) with great pillows. The bathroom was huge!!! It had two large closets. My favorite thing about the room was that it offered various lighting settings with a touch of a button. They even have ice machines on each floor which is very rare in Europe. The breakfast was excellent with multiple options and area is close to restaurants and water front.

The Thief was probably the first 5 star boutique hotel in Norway. It was pretty wow when it opened. I visited the hotel 4-5 times, but not the last 4 years before now. The feeling is thats its not new anymore. Starting to look a bit tired. The maintenance could & should have been better. They where renovating the breakfast area now, so hopefully rest of the hotel will follow. My feeling is that the level has dropped all over the house. Service in the lobby not even close to what it was, some staff totaly arrogant & uninterested to provide service. No valet parking anymore. Not possibel to buy drinks in the lobby bar during daytime. Rooms are starting to look a bit tired, and alot of dust shows lack of cleaning. The linen is the worst i ever seen in a hotel, how on earth can a luxury hotel use this??? Gym is small but ok, like the rest of the hotel it needs a lift. Spa area lacks a jacuzzi, beyond that its ok. The Thief must step up.

We were in Oslo for my partners 50th birthday. I found The Thief as a recommendation on TripAdvisor, I wanted somewhere special and it was highly recommended. I paid for a superior room with a fjord view and I really wasn’t disappointed. We received a very warm welcome upon our arrival and all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 610, blessed with full width windows, with a sliding door onto a small balcony. The room had all the expected facilities. The bed was comfortable and huge! The bathroom was nicely appointed. The rooms are unusually shaped due to the hotels shape but to me, I found it interesting and pleasant. The hotel is very art themed, our room featuring a pleasant print and various books featuring art and the history of the area. During our stay the restaurant was being renovated so our breakfasts were served in the roof top bar/restaurant on the 9th floor. This did not spoil the experience or cause issues. On Saturday night we chose to have some cocktails in the hotel bar. They have a fine selection of quality spirits and we were served some very fine Old Fashioned cocktails. You will find cheaper options I’m sure but I would not hesitate to return or recommend this hotel to anyone.
