The pictures make this place look better than it is. It looked very tired, probably was a nice place in the 1980’s. Food was average at best at the restaurants. This was very disappointing. The perfect ending was when the valet left a scratch on my truck. Not a great visit.

We spent three nights in an oceanfront room at the lodge. We have been to this resort many times and stayed in the lodge several times. This will be the last. We were told last time we were there that they were planning to tear the lodge building down and rebuild, well they are several years too late in doing that. The building itself is worn out and they do not seem to be doing any upkeep to it. The room itself was tired and worn as well. Grout in the bathroom was black, even though the areas that didn’t see wear it beige. The carpet was frayed and dirty. The balcony railing looked like it hadn’t seen any maintenance in years. The paint was all peeling off. Ther were boards missing on the ceiling of the balcony, leaving gaping holes above your head. Even the soap dish in the bathroom was disgusting with rust. Upon checking in, the heat in the room did not work. We had to have engineering come and fix it. All he did was mess with the thermostat until it started working, stating it sometimes gets stuck. Well maybe you should install a new thermostat that doesn’t get stuck. During our entire stay, there were issues with the TV signal. We had engineering twice trying to fix the issue, but it was never resolved. Every 15-20 minutes, signal would get lost and required rebooting. Last time entering was there, his response was, well it’s Spectrums equipment, so not much we can do. Well we weren’t paying Spectrum a premium for an Oceanfront room with expected amenities. The second night, we were getting ready for dinner reservation and I plugged hair dryer in only to have it catch fire in my hand and fill the bathroom with smoke. Called the front desk, and they said they’d get a new hair dryer to us when they could. When I told them that wasn’t good enough, she replied, I’ll do the best I can and hung up. The setting is beautiful, right along the beach and golf course, but they have let this building go into such disrepair that they should never be able to charge the kind of price they do for these tired run down rooms.

When you arrive, the property looks gorgeous from afar, and even in the lobby. Kind of ends there. We were on the second floor (next to construction noise). The hallways are beat up. The room itself was dated (a one bedroom suite) and the furnishings were worn. The bathroom had a tub and separate walk in shower, which was nice. The streaked toilet seat has definitely seen better days. It had a very nice balcony and the living room was comfortable. The bed was ok. Unfortunately due to a very chilly spell, we couldn’t enjoy the pool or beach (the beach looked great). One big complaint was coffee in the morning: there was one coffee shop in the lobby with the loveliest, friendliest staff but they were insanely slow. It was the only coffee option close by but waiting a half hour (literally) for a cappuccino is insane. And they were grotesquely overpriced — $7 for a large cappuccino, with a long wait! The airport coffee was cheaper! There was a coffee maker in the room, to be fair; we should have bought milk and done that. I’ve also seen a lot of people complain about the 2.5% credit card surcharge everywhere in the resort — that is aggravating because they will not take cash! So what choice do you have? There were a lot of other resort fees and taxes as well. Overall, not worth the money. Wouldn’t stay again.

I wanted to switch my room to a room that was in the hotel. On the hotel website rooms were available but the front desk said they were not available it was a mistake. I called weeks ahead and they said the same things every time I called. The same room type was available on third party sites. On the date of check in there were multiple rooms available at the level I requested on the hotels website. When I asked about switching rooms the front desk indicated the website was incorrect. I asked them if I should try to book it on the site to get the room. They said to try. The confirmation came through and the front desk said they could not honor the reservation even though I had a confirmation. This seems like false advertisement. Why would they have rooms available on their site and not honor the reservation?

We are currently staying at this hotel. Originally we were only going to stay one night, but we loved it so much we booked an extra night! The property is beautiful and serene. I can see how some of the other reviewer‘s might say it’s outdated, but I’m not sure I agree. I prefer to think of it as Old Florida, it’s classic and comfortable. Everywhere we have gone from the front desk to the sushi restaurant and late night drinks, staff has provided excellent customer service, always very friendly and helpful. Shout out to Pedro and Texas! Highly recommend this resort!
