Perched on a lush private peninsula on King Harbor in Redondo Beach, California, The Portofino Hotel & Yacht Club is an idyllic combination of sun and surf " one of the few truly oceanfront hotels in the Los Angeles area with waterfront views of the Pacific Ocean and picturesque King Harbor. Ocean breezes wash through the casually elegant decor of each guest room, creating a crisp and clean character, with hues of blue, yellow and white, fine linens, and sleek bathrooms adding just the right touch of luxury. Enjoy the view from your private balcony or move closer with a deck chair by the oceanfront pool and whirlpool. Full service fitness and business centers keep you in shape and in touch, while the whimsical setting of BALEEN Restaurant adds the final feather in Portofino(TM)s cap.

Best staff. Great location. Clean. Great views. Romantic. Wonderful location. The bed was a cloud of dreams. My partner and I have very different sleep needs, and we both had the best sleep in months. He never likes to sleep in, but couldn’t resist with the bed. It was a perfect room with views and great decor that didn’t feel outdated but also not too modern. It felt like a “home” but still kept its charming character with the elevated design. They did a good job with creating a feel of the old hotel with a new sense of timeless elegance. The staff from front desk to restaurant and housekeeping were all just as good as top luxury brands. Actually better imho—they were so welcoming and professional. Took great care of us on our anniversary. 😊. Honestly, for a weekend away, it was perfect all around with its location. Felt close enough to visit city life activity, but far away enough to feel like it was a different city entirely. It’s an EXCELLENT location. Get a rental car, but that’s what I tell everyone that visits LA. It’s too big of a city to uber or take PT. Again, the staff, location, cleanliness and comfort, design, quality of food and drink, and the cool relaxed California charm you want and expect, were all alive and felt at Hotel Portofino. I really thought the design was chic and elegant, decor and aesthetics are important and the hotel decor aesthetic is spot on. Versatile in its offering for types of guests. Great for a romantic weekend away (like we needed). Or for a family. I didn’t see an unhappy face. The extra activities like bike rentals, paddle boards and numerous other activities offered really make it an overall special property. The location at the marina was super cool, too. Our suite view was just heavenly and set the tone for a lovely day. Do yourself a favor and book your stay at this wonderful property.

We have visited the Portofino many times. But so much has changed. To begin… The staff is wonderful - especially Shawnte! However, the problems we encountered were terrible Wi-Fi, no waters available like they’re used to be and the fact that there is only a bartender twice a week night and no bartender on Sunday??? Yes, you have self pour beers, but we don’t drink beer. It was a completely different experience than we’ve had in the past. In fact, it may prevent us from coming back here again.

Portofino Hotel & Marina Redondo Beach, Ca. We had our wedding in the summer of 2024. This wedding venue is breathtaking; elegant and sophisticated. Ocean view ceremony with white/ gold chiaveri chairs and the ballroom has an impressive view towards the ocean and marina! The quality of the food and alcoholic drinks are beyond expectation. To top things off, they offered us a package that included a gorgeous delicious cake and a night in their high class hotel! All of our guests were mesmerized with the amazing experience from start to finish! Rain Villanueva, the catering sales manager was an absolute gem! He took care of every detail, basically orchestrating the entire wedding with ease and precision. The food was exactly as I envisioned, and he made adjustments whenever needed without a hitch. His professionalism and attention to detail ensured everything went smoothly. We couldn’t have done it without him! We owe so much of our day to Rain and his fantastic team. Truly outstanding! Thank you Rain!:)

What would otherwise be a great hotel experience was ruined by total insensitivity to the needs of hotel guests. As an example, music is piped into the hallways through speakers located outside the room doors. The music is continuous until 10 pm when it automatically stops. Perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad for guests on California time who go to bed after 10. But as someone arriving from the East coast wanting to go to bed earlier, 10 pm is 1 am. Asking the hotel staff to turn it down or off has little impact because the owners apparently get revenue from playing the music. As a second example, the bathroom light is on a motion detector that turns the light on repeatedly throughout the night at the slightest hallway vibration, another barrier to a sound sleep that the hotel staff seemed powerless to address. A poorly managed and run hotel.

Horrible experience.. Be weary of this hotel. Our room was full of ants, we did not receive any housekeeping on our 5 day stay and I was called 6 times not only on my hotel phone but my personal phone at 8:30am to go out on my balcony and check for something that was dropped from the balcony above…. I feel like I would have been better off at a motel 6 which is terrible feeling after paying over 300 USD a night
