Lovely stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Beautiful hotel with old world charm located very centrally and within walking distance to train station and landmarks including the Colosseum. Room was clean and charming. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast which was served on the lovely roof top terrace. A sufficient choice available to suit most tastes.

Stunning roof top views

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The hotel is well situated to allow you to explore Rome. It is somewhat corparate in its appearance and service. Although, saying this it was clean and comfortable. On our first night we made a dinner reservation for the roof top restaurant, it is a beautiful location with stunning views. Although the service was polite we found it somewhat pushy in its approach to up-selling dishes, this was somewhat off-putting and uncomfortable. Drinks and food were of a high quality and over all the stay was very enjoyable.

Old fashioned and dated

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Hotel was comfortable but very dated and old fashioned. Reception team spoke good English but I asked for two things and neither were actioned. I had broken my leg and asked for a non-slip mat for my bath (shower was above bath) this did not arrive. The second was that my toilet cistern was dripping permanently and it was very noisy. This was not dealt with and it impeded my sleep. Roof top bar was lovely and we were told my reception we could go up at 5pm as a reservation would be needed later on. We were told very officiously that we were not allowed to sit as all the tables were reserved. We only wanted one drink in the late afternoon sunshine. The second night we took our business elsewhere.

Do your research

Hotel very dated, carpet worn on the stairs and exceptionally and small lift. Our room was so dated and badly laid out we kept bumping into each other! The bathroom was huge, the shower tiny and impossible to control the temperature- either freezing or scalding. Breakfast looked good and some was nice but generally uninspiring. The waiting staff took forever to get the coffee / tea order and the drinks were lukewarm warm. I know it was a city centre location and you pay more especially in Rome, but you really have to check small print. When we visited the rooftop bar which had a fab view we were told in no uncertain terms we could not sit in the ‘nice’ areas as they were all reserved but no one else was there. We had lunch in the outside coffee area which was fine.
