Why stay at a hotel when you can stay at a legend? Combining historic, Renaissance-influenced architectural splendor that includes an opulent lobby, sky-high ceilings and a sweeping staircase begging for grand entrances, Kimpton Sir Francis Drake is where vintage glamour and the ideal Union Square location intersect.

What a beautiful property. The Beacon Grand is elegant and modern throughout, from the lobby to the guest rooms, and the beds were some of the most comfortable I've slept in during any stay. But what really sets this hotel apart is the service. I travel frequently for both business and pleasure, and Michael and Evan were genuinely some of the best hosts I've ever worked with, anywhere. They were attentive without being intrusive, anticipated what I needed before I asked, and made the entire stay feel effortless. It's rare to find service this consistently excellent, and it puts this hotel among the best I've experienced in the country. Highly recommend, and I'll be back.

This is a beautiful hotel in a prime location on Union Square. Union Square felt very safe. There were lots of high-end stores nearby for shopping and the trolley line was right outside on Powell Street. There's also a beautiful rooftop bar at this hotel that we really enjoyed. We did not use the hotel parking since it was $70 a night but we were able to get parking for $30 a night a block away. The only thing unusual is you can't reach the front desk at this hotel after 10 PM. We only know this because we were on our way from Sacramento and called several times to check on parking but there was no answer. But when we arrived, there was someone at the front desk who gave us parking information.

The location of this hotel is centrally located in Union Square. The atmosphere was captivating and the dining was superb, but the room was quite small.

This historic hotel perfectly embodies all things San Fransisco . Its location is just one block from Union Square, right across the street from famous Sears restaurant ( Swedish pancakes) , and walking distance to shopping whether high end or Macy’s . The hotel is quiet , the bedding is high and, the front desk is always ready to fulfill requests . The roof is an excellent music bar with unobstructed views of the city . We take our small grandkids and they feel very special in a luxurious setting. We have been coming the part 20 years . Although there was a name change it still is special place . We do miss the beefeater doorman - maybe in the near future he will be back .

Very central to San Francisco. Easy access to transit, Macy’s, china town walking distance. Front desk was very helpful and recommended many places to visit or eat. I enjoyed the lounge and shared drinks with family in a great setting.
