Good stay except for the unfriendly staff

Wonderful hotel with character, charm and good location. The lobby and roof top bars were fun which is a must. Only disappointment was the unfriendly staff the entire time during our stay.

Great location, good value, clean and comfortable with old world charm.

I stayed previously when it was the Francis Drake Hotel. They underwent a rebranding and renovation several years ago. The location is great in the heart of union square and great for exploring and getting lots of steps in. Easy walk to Nob Hill, Chinatown, the Embarcadero and the Ferry Bldg/ awesome farmers market on Saturdays. Old school classic vibe, the structure is old so rooms smaller, bathroom was tiny, good water pressure, very comfortable beds and linens and my room had very nice natural light. I was on upper floors facing southeast. They had a smaller gym but well equipped so you can have a nice workout. The price was right for a Saturday thru Tuesday night compared to other hotels in area. Top floor bar the Starlight is closed Mondays and Tuesdays so that was a bummer. A hotel bar should be open 7 days a week especially if don’t have a lobby bar as a social meeting place. I noticed valet is approx $79/day. I did not eat at the restaurant since I venture out to explore the food scene in every city I visit. The rooms have paper thin walls so can hear conversations next door and toilets flushing, showers running but really not a big deal. Overall a pleasant stay and good value. Also the check-in was a breeze after a long travel day.

Perfect for Wedding Couples

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

My husband and I stayed at the Beacon Grand in Union Square the night before and the night of our wedding, and everything was absolutely perfect. From dinner and drinks in the restaurant and bar to the thoughtful design of each space we stayed in, the experience will forever be part of our story as we began our lives together as husband and wife. The location was incredibly convenient, with great dining options just a short walk or ride away. We even made a quick run to Macy’s that took less than half an hour. The hotel staff provided exceptional customer service throughout our stay, making us feel genuinely cared for. If we had to choose a favorite part of our experience, it would undoubtedly be Leif, our social host, who went above and beyond to make our stay feel personal, meaningful, and truly unforgettable. If you're debating whether it's worth it, bit the bullet.

Excellence in the Heart of San Francisco

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This hotel used to be The Sir Francis Drake Hotel, a line of hotels renowned for excellent architecture, quality and professional staff. The Beacon continues that tradition in San Francisco. The lobby, restaurant and bar were welcome retreats at the end of each day.

Family Celebration

We love the location of your hotel, it is beautiful and the staff are very accommodating and friendly. We did have a negative experience at the Starlite Lounge and my husband got very sick from his drink.
