Kimpton Sir Francis Drake Hotel

Beacon Grand is a lovely, cute hotel very close to Union Square in San Francisco. Location is fabulous, with bunch of restaurants etc around. Hotel has the charm of old building, built in 1928, however everything is very functional. For example, the life has a wooden decor (very uncommon in newer hotels today), however there are 4 of those, and I did not face any delays in moving in, out and around in the hotel. Room sizes bit small but no issue for short trips.

We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday weekend at the Beacon Grand and it was wonderful! Every staff member we encountered was super nice, fun to chat with, and of course helpful. We've had cocktails in the Post lounge before which is also a lovely time and it's so pretty in that space. The room we had was spacious, stylish, and we had a great view of Union Square, a nice way to have morning coffee. We also celebrated with awesome cocktails in Starlight Lounge and that was fantastic! The drinks are unique and creative. We lucked out with really nice weather so it was a clear night looking out to the city. The DJ did a great mix of throwbacks and contemporary songs which was fun and just the right volume to have conversation. We love this storied hotel and being right in the middle of the City is prefect since we're walkers. We can't wait to come back especially since baseball season is starting!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Beacon Grand. Our room had a beautiful view overlooking Union Square, which made the experience even more memorable. The hotel has so much character, and while it maintains a classic charm, the rooms are thoughtfully updated with a clean, modern feel. Everything was spotless, and housekeeping did an excellent job throughout our stay. We made a special request via email before arriving, and also reached out with a request during our stay—both were handled perfectly. That level of service really stood out. This was our first time visiting San Francisco, and while we’d love to explore different neighborhoods on future trips, our experience at the Beacon Grand was so exceptional that it’s hard to imagine staying anywhere else. We also really appreciated the small details, like the complimentary aluminum water bottles and the postcard in the room that could be mailed for free using the hotel’s mail chute—such a unique and memorable feature. We spent most of our time out exploring the city and didn’t expect the hotel itself to be such a highlight, but it truly was. The Beacon Grand made our trip even more special, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Nice hotel and when I arrived without even asking they had my room ready for early check in. Elegant lobby, friendly barstaff and clean, comfortable rooms.

The perfect location and excellent service. The rooms are small but nice --- feels like most European hotels! Will definitely stay here next time.
