Kimpton Sir Francis Drake Hotel

The hotel was lovely and glamorous downstairs, and the bar and restaurant were very pleasant. Unfortunately, the hotel let itself down when it came to the rooms. We were particularly disappointed by the lack of sound insulation from the bedroom windows. It genuinely felt as though we were sleeping outside, with construction work, car horns and banging audible at all hours. For a hotel of this standard, and with modern double glazing, I would have expected much better sound insulation. Until this issue is addressed, I would strongly recommend requesting a room towards the inside of the hotel, away from the road, to avoid the noise.

The central location puts us within walking distance of Chinatown, Little Italy, and the Ferry Building, or you can hop on a trolley or take a rideshare. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel's classic feel reminds us of New York City, which is a nice experience without the 2,500-mile trip. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and up to date - Great value in our opinion. The beds are comfy and gave us some of the best sleep we've had while traveling. The value for a stay is appropriate, given the proximity to so many landmarks and experiences. The staff is superb and welcoming. Everyone from the front office, the bar near the lobby, and the Starlight Lounge has gone above and beyond to provide the atmosphere we now call our home away from home whenever we're in the city. During San Francisco's rainy season, the amenities are a great way to enjoy indoor time. Good luck. Our overall experience is what keeps us coming back at least twice a year.

Our experience at the hotel was made exceptional thanks to Jojit. He was incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive to all of our needs. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well accommodated. Outstanding hospitality!

The hotel has charm, but the food was very mediocre. It’s a nice place to stay once, but lacks a real reason to stay there again.

A lovely hotel with everything you need: great location, good food, comfortable/clean rooms, terrific service. I stay here every month for work and I look forward to it.
