Founded on Englandâ€(TM)s great country house traditions, Charlton House brings a sense of imagination and flair to an old favorite. Tucked into the rolling hills of Somerset, west of London, the manor dates back to 1630. The dramatic décor, however, heralds a new era in design with 25 bedrooms possessing their own identityâ€"in one you may find a grand sanctuary, in another a cozy retreat with a secret garden. Distinguished with a Michelin star for the past seven years, the house restaurant presents imaginative cuisine using fresh West Country produce.

The hotel is based in a nice old country house and in beautiful grounds. I went there for a spa stay with a friend. The spa is quite small but nice enough although there’s probably not enough seating if it is full. I had a massage and it was excellent and the spa staff were super friendly. We stayed in the pidgeon loft room at the top of 2 floors. There’s quite a few stairs and no lift due to the age of the property. The room could do with updating but the bathroom is modern with a shower and toilet. I thought the food was expensive. It was very nice but expensive and at times it was difficult to reorder drinks and food as they were either short staffed or busy ! I didn’t find the reception particularly friendly and sadly it made a big impression on my stay,

We arrived at the hotel on the 19th feb for two nights . When we arrived we were taken to the seating area and firstly given our welcome drink tea or coffee. The room we had was room 24 a very large room with patio. Very large bathroom. The bed was large but two put together, the following morning my partner said she had a sinking feeling , I investigated and found the bed base had a foot missing in the middle. Also noticed not hoovered underneath for a very long time. We had a £42 allowance each for evening meals , I was not very impressed with the menu , service was slow , staff very polite though. The second night paid the £10 each supplement for the steak ( best meal) shame we had to do that. The Spa was great used it every day and cannot fault it. The outside jacuzzi was great in all a very relaxing experience. I mentioned the issues when leaving and the comment was I will let you know house keeping know! We would return again but not with the evening meal allowance, would also check the bed!

We had a lovely stay, bedroom was spacious & warm. Spa was a real treat! Lovely staff on the front desk & throughout our stay. We have left feeling much more relaxed. We didn’t eat an evening meal but had a cooked breakfast which we couldn’t fault. Would recommend.

What a wonderful weekend. Helpful and friendly staff (shout out to Peter and Maddie), really lovely food (bistro salads are excellent and a good deal). And the room was very very special. I saw a few of the rooms and they are all unique and curated beautifully. Don't hesitate to book in and chill out in style.

Had an amazing stay and room was huge on the ground floor. I'm sure we were upgraded it was a beautiful room and bathroom. We had an amazing meal in the bar with our doggies and the spa on both days. Staff were lovely and the spa was so relaxing. We give our stay 10 out of 10 😊
