The Leela Kovalam, A Raviz Hotel

They have the most idyllic location in Kovalam. Perched atop a cliff and a short walk to a private beach makes them an ideal choice for families, couples or groups. Spread over 67 acres, the sea views are breath taking and the manicured and well-maintained gardens add to their allure. They have a wide variety of accommodations. We got to stay in the Premier Seaview Rooms, with their sloping roofs and a grand view of the Arabian Sea from our French window. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with all the bells and whistles of a 5-star hotel. Water sports is stopped during monsoon, so we couldn’t do any of that. The activities resumed from November onwards. Pros: Beautiful location, well maintained (both indoors and outdoors), private beach, water sports, great breakfast spread, lots of activities, spa, beautiful spots to sit and watch the sunset from, peacock sightings, infinity pool, cultural programs in the evenings, availability of autos just outside the property gate. Cons: The restaurant staff can certainly do their breakfast duties with a bit more warmth and proactiveness. After all we are not only paying for the property (excellent as it is) but for the experience. Though my family complains that I have very exacting service standards. But since I have hotel management background (though in another life), I know it is possible. Also, there were 2 peculiar things about the bathroom - The wash basin is outside the bathroom, and the threshold of the bathroom is a good 6” high, so not the most conducive for senior citizens. Which brings me to the moment when we (my kids and I) got stuck in the lift but were rescued in 5-7 minutes. The good thing was that the operator picked up the phone when we dialed from inside the lift. The front office lady did apologize for it. Though I felt the response to the incident was underscored as if it was not an uncommon happening. Guests stuck in lifts of 5-star hotels is not common, or is it? Last but not the least, I would like to thank Vinod and Anoop, our drivers for their excellent service, which helped in creating a positive customer experience for us. Vinod took us to Kanyakumari and Sree Padmanabhswamy Temple. He reminded me that I had forgotten to take pics outside the temple and also took us to the front of the temple where we took pics with the beautiful façade of the temple in the background. Anoop was our out-station driver for 3 days. Appreciated his initiative to ask if we wanted to see the Jatayu Earth Center (which I wanted to but had not been able to include in our itinerary) which was on our way to Kumarakom. Overall, a great stay. It is a luxurious 5-star property and probably the best in Kovalam. So, if you have the opportunity, do stay at Leela.

1hr yoga session from 8am was a fantastic experience. Enjoyed the spiritual aspects of the lesson as well as the postures. We attended 4 sessions and all of them a little different. The surrounding area and the venue was magical. The wind and waves in the background made it feel more heavenly. I was so relaxed by the end of the lesson I fell asleep during final relaxation. Thank you Muktar you made the start of our day perfect !

Amazing staycation experience with my family… the view from our room was just amazing and breathtaking… we enjoyed the beautiful infinity pool … and the food was great.. we had our butler Mr. Rahul who was of great help…welcome at thee reception was very traditional .. everyone was smiling and helpful… all in all … great experience..

One awesome property in kovalam area. We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and the service from this hotel. We went to celebrate our 9th anniversary. Rahul the club rooms butler made us feel so special on our wedding anniversary by arranging a very special table and dinner with a lovely cake. Kudos to Rahul for his exceptional service and hospitality. He deserves a large appaluse for his work! Nitesh was kind too and served us the anniversary dinner by curating the best choice of food at the cafe. Jobi and Naseem guest relationship folks were very helpful and amazing! Overall highly rated property with great food and hospitality Rooms were a little smaller but the view was incredible

We had a great experience here. The service was good. There was cleanliness and greenery. The food was tasty and delicious. The management was good.The facilities of car was good.The pool was clean. We enjoyed a lot over here. The beach view was so beautiful.
