Great Stay with Beautiful Walks, but Some Service Improvements Needed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 18 hours ago

Overall, my stay was pleasant. The check-in and check-out process was very efficient and friendly, and Ben at breakfast was excellent—attentive, friendly, and made sure guests had everything they needed. The valet service was also top-notch, making everything smooth and hassle-free. I loved the hotel's location. We walked to Lionshead and Vail along Gore Creek, which was covered in snow and ice. Since I wore cleats, I felt safe, and the weather was sunny and bright. It was the best walk I’ve had in a long time—peaceful, uncrowded, and with breathtaking scenery. It took about 35 minutes because we stopped often to take pictures. The hotel does offer a complimentary shuttle to Vail, but we enjoyed walking in the snow instead. The hotel also provides daily activity programs, including a snowshoe walk and morning yoga. We wanted to try ice skating for two days, but the ice was melting, so the conditions weren’t ideal. The breakfast buffet was small but had high-quality options, including cage-free eggs, fresh berries, smoked salmon, and porridge. You can also order single dishes. It was very crowded around 8:30 AM, but at 7 AM, it was much quieter.Overall, it was a great stay. There are some areas where service could be improved, such as at the market and the concierge, to ensure a fully enjoyable experience.

Great place from which to hit the slopes and unwind afterwards; wholesome setting

Great service, comfortable rooms and wonderful overall experience. Very easy to get out to the mountain and back with all the equipment needed. Ski/snowboard shop is outstanding; equipment rentals were fast, professional, and well-cared-for.

Consistently Excellent Stay at Grand Hyatt Vail

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We’ve stayed at the Grand Hyatt Vail multiple times, and it never disappoints. The experience is consistently high-end, truly living up to a 4.5-star standard. Service is top-notch, housekeeping is excellent, and the convenience of having a lift at the hotel with zero wait times is a huge plus. The shuttle to town is frequent and hassle-free, making it easy to explore. The room finishes are upscale and well-maintained, adding to the overall luxury feel. A standout touch is their thoughtful service—they always provide a humidifier and even fill it for me, which makes a big difference in the mountain air. Having visited three times over the past two years, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again on our next trip to Vail.

Another Exceptional Stay

I've stayed here many times and have very much enjoyed the property and rooms. My most recent stay, the service I received truly made this one of my favorite stays in recent memory. Fernando proactively reached out and helped me secure a private space to take an important call on short notice. Ryan at the front desk went above and beyond during a very early morning arrival to save our weekend after a 6 hour flight delay. Some of the best service I've received at any hotel, and I will continue to recommend the Grand Hyatt Vail to everybody I know as I'm consistently blown away by the impressive staff and property here.

Not as great as it used to be

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We have stayed at this hotel many times and this was by far the worst experience. The checkin staff did not acknowledge our guest of honor perks-I had to ask what our benefits were. I emailed ahead of time stating I run a travel group of over 21,000 people and that I wanted to highlight some aspects of the hotel for our website/blog and that was totally ignored. Breakfast staff delivered cold lattes the first day, took forever to get us hot ones the next day, and service was very slow. We were told we could not eat pizza from Blue Moose in the actual lobby sitting area (near the fire). Staff acted annoyed that we then ate it near the kids games (so we could watch our children). Ski valet didn’t know the number to the front valet so my husband had to haul all of our skis up front when we were leaving. We asked that our luggage be taken to valet since there were no luggge carts available when we left to ski and were told we could not get late checkout. Returned at 1230 and our stuff was STILL in our room and my husband had to go retrieve it all. The apres hut was PACKED every day and was constantly running out of things. My husband and I single handedly shoveled the ice rink for the kids because it was snow covered. The only person at the hotel that went above and beyond was Kelley at ski valet. Really disappointed in this hotel-it used to be one of our favorites.

My wife and I just returned from a five-night stay at the Vail Cascade Resort & Spa. The accommodations were fantastic! With the hotel's spa, ski shops, ski lift, movie theater, and convenient shuttle bus, the trip was incredible! We will be back...with friends!
