The Grand York

Thank you for another wonderful stay! The Grand never disappoints! From the moment you walk through the doors you are met with first class service and the hotel is just beautiful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff are helpful and friendly and want to do their very best for you. The bar is one of our favourites…top class drinks and the most relaxed atmosphere. Our stay went too fast and already we can’t wait to be back!

My husband surprised me with a stay for my birthday here in a luxury suite! From the moment we arrived until the second we left we felt in awe! ALL staff were lovely, very friendly and there was nothing they could not nor would not do for us Especially the young lad at the concierge desk and the Door master dealing with the valet parking who even waved us goodbye as we drove past. Its the small gestures :) They gave me a complimentary birthday drink which was very thoughtful. The hotel its self is beautiful and well looked after. The room was spacious and very cosy, the bathroom was lush, huge double shower and free standing bath, even had floor heating! Only thing I would say was there was no air con, there was a control for heating but we are hot sleepers, did not ruin the stay though at all. Had a wonderful hot stone massage! They even let us keep the car in their valet parking whilst we checked out and had a visit in York centre for the day. Honestly lovely stay! Well done!

Decided to pay a visit after six years - we went for our baby moon and have returned . What a delight!!! Every single member of staff we encountered was outstanding. The care, the attention to detail and the professionalism was wonderful to experience We will be back

We booked as last minute getaway for 2 and wish we had chosen a different hotel. Check-in was at 3pm; we arrived at 4.30pm, and our room wasn't ready (along with 4 or 5 other disgruntled guests). Receptionists were not very welcoming. When we got into our room there were discarded tissues on the floor. The booklets next to the bed were soaked through, the shower was mouldy and the bath dirty. For a ‘5*’ hotel the little touches were not there. Lamp was broken, another wonky. No water in the fridge. The meal in the restaurant was nothing special and service was far from good. The corridors have absolutely no character and even feel a little prison-like, it really did put me off the whole place. On the plus side the Cocktails were very nice. We won’t be returning, there are plenty of other hotels that are worth the money, this is not one of them.

We booked to stay here as part of my 40th birthday celebrations. From the moment we arrived we were blown away with the hotel it definitely lived up to previous reviews. All the staff we encountered were friendly welcoming and warm. The room was a standard double room but was anything but standard its huge bed beautiful bathroom and little added extras of robes and slippers made the whole stay memorable. We visited the bar and again felt welcomed by the staff and the Espresso Martini was one of the best I have had. We would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to make their stay in York that little bit special and will be returning on our next visit to York.
