Fess Parker Wine Country Inn & Spa – a Preferred Boutique property, part of the Preferred Hotel Group – started as the vision of a Hollywood actor whose characters loved the wilderness: Fess Parker was better known as Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone on television in the 1950s and ’60s. When he set out to buy a vineyard in Santa Barbara wine country, it quickly became a family affair. Now his son Eli and granddaughter Tessa Marie have vineyards on more than 700 acres of land, and guests staying at the inn enjoy prime access to this fertile section of California countryside.

The rooms are comfortable and nice, the staff delightful, and the restaurant located at the hotel but under different ownership had excellent food. In fact, my wife who loves flatbreads and I thought their onion/cheese flatbread was the best flatbread we had ever tasted. There was a comfortable library with a large working desk and nice grounds with multiple places to sit. The downsides were the cost of our stay and the breakfasts. At $1200 for a weekend night, I could only give the value 2 stars out of 5. And the breakfast was pitiful for a luxury hotel, much more similar to a Day's Inn, and the same every day. My other suggestion for improvement would be to have some way to shut off the bedroom from the sitting room. My wife is an early riser and I am not. With a door to the bedroom she could go to the sitting room and not bother me. Instead she had to get dressed and go to the library.

Best place we have ever stayed, this time was probably our 6th or 7th time, we will be back for sure. A couple things we giggled about: For A $1200 a night room: 1) Continental breakfast is included? Our last visit, Breakfast at the restaurant was included. 2) Charged us $8 for the corkscrew we took. 3) Windows in our room were dirty and smeared. 4) Rain gutters needed to be cleaned. 5) Previous restaurant was better and had better deserts. Again: this is the best place we have ever stayed, this time was probably our 6th or 7th time, we will be back for sure.

Disappointing except for the restaurant. Bathroom totally subpar, water never got hot, very expensive stay, and I left a message for the general manager that was never returned. Wish we had cast a wider net as there were other properties not all that much further away from the center of town.

Such a treat to visit the Fess Parker in again for our 25th wedding anniversary. From the spectacular room to the stellar staff and the central location for wine tasting by day and wonderful food experiences by night, this really is the perfect place to stay. We also enjoyed late afternoon dips in the pool as the weather was perfect as well! We look forward to returning again and again! Thank you for making our visit so special.

My husband I spent 3 nights at the Fess Parker Wine Country Inn, and we continue to impressed with the rooms and service, as this was our third stay. We checked in early and were assisted in transporting 5 cases of wine we had purchased earlier. The staff at the front desk, and the bellman could not have been nicer. As with our previous stays, the room was modern with all the amenities you need for a quality stay. The room was very quiet and was walkable to all the unique shops restaurants and wineries in town. We enjoyed our morning walks through town in this quaint location. My only concerns were the skimpy buffet breakfast offered, and the quality of food in Nella’s kitchen. During our last visit, the meatballs were better. ( size and taste) . However our server, Forrest was great.
