Reviews for The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman

Excellent anniversary stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

An excellent week long stay for our 45th wedding anniversary at the hotel... - The ladies and gentlemen of the hotel were very nice and gracious and showed the level of customer care expected of a Ritz. Everyone was so friendly and I had great conversations with many of your team members. - The suite was outstanding and well maintained and the housekeeping staff were extremely nice. - The artwork in the hallways was phenomenal and was a nice touch during the walk.  - The breakfast buffet was well maintained, and the selections everyday were really nice. - Everything we ate was really good - the chefs and team are really top notch... Items for consideration: - I really think you should consider going to umbrellas at the beach - The Caymans are hot and humid and umbrellas would give more coverage and particularly more UV coverage. - The treats handed out (frozen pineapple/ grapes, juices, popsicles, etc. are a nice touch and very much appreciated during the day. I do think the team needs to come back to each person and collect the cups and the popsicle plastic as I would see them in the sand the next morning at the beach.  Not very environmentally friendly... - We sat out on the beach every day for seven days from 9am to 6pm and we only witnessed the gentleman passing out the cloths with the Eucalyptus once - it was very comforting. Would have liked that several times during our stay. - I understand the pricing and cost of various items at the Ritz - you are a five-star hotel, and the cost reflects that. However, there needs to be a bit of common sense in some of your pricing. I needed distilled water for my CPAP machine, and I am sure you get a number of seniors with those same needs.  A gallon of distilled water normally costs between 70 cents to two dollars.  At the Ritz, when you have to get it from room service and you add on all the fees, the cost becomes $18.25. Very outrageous - the hotel needs to take a look at the cost structure. - I noticed that for the duration of our stay most of the beach cabanas were empty. They seemed very nice, but our thought was that they were extremely pricy, in most cases more expensive per day than one of the hotel rooms. Perhaps the Ritz should take a look at the pricing on those cabanas and make them more affordable.  There was certainly a lost revenue opportunity for the hotel during our stay... Thank you for a memorable week...

Luxurious Solo Vacation Done Right

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I haven’t left yet. I leave tomorrow unfortunately but I am so blown away that have to leave my review now. This has been such a stellar experience. The service here is unbelievable. I haven’t had to lift a finger and all my needs have been anticipated. The beach service really blew me away. I was getting too much sun in my daybed and they created a canopy to block it out. I went to the gym and didn’t even have to wipe my equipment, they literally jumped and stopped me from getting the wipe and did it for me. I haven’t had to open one door. I was even offered chamomile tea to help me sleep before bed. I am so thankful for the incredible staff at this hotel. I’m staying on the 7th floor in the ocean towers. My room is immaculate. Housekeeping and turndown service is amazing. I was nervous because I saw a review about roaches but did not experience any of that. This place is spotless. Nothing looks old and outdated. It’s just been redone and everything is clean and beautiful. There are even butterflies flying around everywhere. It’s truly heaven on earth. The food at Taikun was the best sushi I have ever had. Lunch at Saint June was good but not great although I only tried nachos and a burger. The piña colada was out of this world though. I have no complaints. When I come back, I will only stay at the Ritz. The stretch of beach is lovely. The water calm and I love all the beach floats. The people are also very nice. It’s not stuffy at all - it’s got a very classy vibe, which I appreciate. Overall this was a very luxurious and incredible trip. I’m so sad to be leaving tomorrow, but so grateful to have FINALLY experienced the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman.

Very enjoyable stay!

We loved our stay and really it’s the staff that make it so enjoyable and memorable. The valet staff, pool staff, tennis staff, housekeeping all were excellent. Claver in particular was very welcoming and provided excellent service. We also made friends with a few of the folks at the pickle ball and one lady in particular who was so helpful in going over the rules with us. Fitzroy was also great. We had a great time - thank you!

Dear friends, You all remember that I went to Cayman Islands 🇰🇾 Fashion week a few months ago and decided to stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman I was looking forward to it BTW they charge $2K per night our stay was almost $5K The hotel is awfully old and in scratches everywhere, renovation is a must the food was mediocre the service was not attentive and they did not hear when I was letting them know that I am tired they were continuing their long speeches, just to sell their club level access for $600 the worst part of it I HAD A ROACH ON MY BED THE FIRST NIGHT AT THE HOTEL They not only didnt return the money, they offered $500 discount and gave complimentary cabana I thought Im getting $500 per night the manager had such a heavy accent that it was no way to undersrand what he offers so i didnt pay attention I thought American Express will return the money guess what they are on the side of big corporations i am writing this so you all know never stay at that particular SHADY property #ritzcarlton #ritzcarltoncayman #ritzcarltongrandcayman

Thoroughly disappointed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Downgraded from a king suite to a standard double upon arrival with no explanation. The only friendly employees we encountered were Felix in the beach bar and Eva on the beach. There was one nice evening housekeeper but I didn’t catch her name. The pool store employee had zero idea if the Ritz had branded merchandise anywhere else on property. I did find another store but the employee there didn’t know what the store carried and said she just works there and waived me away. Lots of sunscreen spilled inside with no employees bothering to stop and clean it up. Bugs in the bathtub. Blood stain on comforter. Room service breakfast was horrid. Cold undercooked sausage and cold soggy waffle. Brought this to the attention of the front desk clerk upon checkout and she made no effort to adjust the bill. Room service chicken soup was fabulous as well as the Caribbean jerk pizza. The penthouse level has a ladies restroom and a unisex restroom. Neither have hand towels or any way to dry your hands. The ladies restroom had no toilet paper until I took a roll from under the sink and placed it on the holder. Definitely not what we expected from a Ritz Carlton. Beach was awesome. I personally dove throughout the Ritz roped area and collected all the beer cans and cups discarded by other guests.
