Surrounded by nothing but turquoise lagoon which melts into sapphire blue, the Maldives luxury resort island of Anantara Kihavah and its pure white sands rise up out of the ocean like a mirage. For centuries, this was where Arab traders sailing to the Far East took shelter; a lush paradise blessed by coconut, papaya and mango trees. Navigating archipelago to archipelago by the stars, the seafarers were also drawn by the riches of the ocean surrounding the island – where a prehistoric volcano sank back into the depths, leaving blooming corals within a house reef and a wealth of lagoon fish. Wishing to keep the pristine nature of the island intact, not one tree has been moved – as evidenced by the villas growing up around them. The design pays homage to the seafarers of old, fusing Indian Ocean, Arab and Portuguese motifs with indigenous materials. Located on the Baa Atoll in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas invites you to imagine your own barefoot luxury paradise. Savour the luxury of space in your private pool beach villa or over water villa. Snorkel with mantas and Hawksbill sea turtles. Stargaze into the night. Dine on a deserted sandbank or beneath the ocean’s surface at this enchanting sanctuary

Harnie and the team were superb. Particularly impressed by the kids club and their care and attention to children.

It is pricey but the resort management and staffs ensure every cent is worthwhile for you. Reservation: they list out activities and after you chosen, they plan and schedule for you. They even go all out to plan non-listed activities for you. Like Futsal with the staffs. Welcome party: all the Chiefs were there to welcome us. Host : upon arrival, your host will present the schedule for you and make suggestions for you on the planned activities. Food: Chef ensure that every little dish comes out of the kitchen has highest quality. He was there for every single dining of our stay (we were there for 6 days) to check on diners satisfactions. Quality of ingredients and authenticity of the cooking is everything. Activities: Host ensure that you get the "best seats" even in this high Dec month. Resort Manager goes all out to make exception and justification for you even for the impossible, like catching no fish on the Big Game fishing trip ha ha ha. House Keeping : very accommodating and no questions asked. Overall: though this was our longest stay among our four trips to Maldives, this one is the most fulfilling. Never a dull time. Most expensive stay so far, but surely worth it.

Great staff, greetings to our host Piyal, who did a great job. We can fully recommend this place for everyone. The only thing that wasn’t great, is the weather, but it is not something the resort can predict. We will be back! 😍🏖️ ☀️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I’m not sure where to start…but if I had only one word to describe Anantara Kihavah it would be …PARADISE! But that’s just not enough. Myself and my fiancé spent our first holiday away in over 5yrs in the Maldives and honestly we could not have chosen anywhere better. From the moment we stepped off the plane in Malé we were made feel so welcome and at home. Every single step of the way was stress free and taken care of by the wonderful resort staff. We were taken to the resorts own lounge at the sea plane terminal where we could help ourselves to a wonderful selection of beverages and snacks, a welcome treat while waiting to be taken to the plane. After the exciting 45min sea plane trip we were met on arrival at the Kihavah pontoon by Ting Ting our villa host who would be looking after us during our first week. Even In first impression we knew we had met one of the sweetest people on the planet! On arriving at Kihavah Island we were met by members of the resort staff along with an amazing drummer and then brought to our overwater villa by Ting Ting and manager Maurice…a fellow Irishman who had a wonderful friendly manner with everyone both his colleagues and guests, we enjoyed many great chats throughout our stay! Even with the jet lag we were overwhelmed with the kindness and friendly welcome we received. It absolutely set the tone for the rest of our trip. The villa itself was stunning, I had put in a request before I arrived for a yoga mat in the room, not really thinking I’d be so lucky, but Ting Ting had everything organised, two yoga mats and a even a water bottle, incredible! Although it consistently rained the first week there was zero disappointment because there was so much space to relax in the villa and the view rain or shine was stunning! So much marine life literally on your doorstep! Snorkelling in the lagoon was so special even without going to the house reef (which is obviously spectacular!) I have never felt as relaxed in my life. Ting ting took care of everything, from booking restaurants and dive courses, picking us up and dropping us off, she is a real diamond member of the team and we miss her so much! For the second week were looked after by the equally lovely Arlene who was so incredibly friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Again booking everything we needed and there for us whenever we needed a buggy trip! She also arranged for me a beautiful Ayurvedic treatment with resident practitioner Ram just before we left…all I can say is that I left the island completely revived and just regretting that I had not booked more! Every member of staff in the many restaurants on the island were so welcoming and warm that by the end we felt truly bereft at having to leave them. Reji you made our trip so special, from breakfast at Plates to stunning dinners at Manzaru, thank you! Chelsea also at Manzaru, just the sweetest, Mazlän at Spice and Sea, we loved meeting you, thank you for everything! There were so many others who looked after us every night in the restaurants, it feels unfair not name everyone! We loved our tour of the orchid garden with Prem, a warm kind man who is obviously dedicated to his work as you can see from the stunning displays of orchids throughout the island. I learned a lot that I’m now putting into practice at home…slightly different climate but I’ll do my best! I can’t not mention the instructors at the dive centre who could not have helped us more, I really encourage anyone looking to dive in the Maldives to check them out, truly the best of the best! My fiancé completed his PADI Open Water while at the resort and loved every second! Also, what would we have done without Mohamed who looked after our villa throughout our stay, always arriving with a huge smile and warm greeting, he truly is a valued member of the team, we were so grateful to him looking after us. There is so much more I could say about our dreamlike experience at Kihavah, we will most definitely return! Already I’m realising I’m leaving so much out!! Thank you SO much to all our new friends, we’re counting the days until we can return again! Shukuriyaa!! Louise & Ronan x
