Another great stay at amway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We love staying at amway! It’s a great couples weekend trip! It does get busy on the weekends with weddings but we checkout Monday and Sunday and Monday were very quiet! We love the shops and places to eat in the hotel! Pool and spa were nice and there were a ton of people using the pickle ball courts. There were a couple things left behind that housekeep forgot from the people before us. Like a face razor under the sink, a couple hairs on the toilet flusher and some trash on the bathroom floor. But they were small things that didn’t affect our stay at the hotel. We were on the 23rd floor in the tower with river view.

Very underwhelmed for the Money!

Spent one night with my daughter and grandson at the Amway Grand to go see the Illuminary festival at the zoo(which was amazing). The stay was over $600 for the night for a 2 queen bedroom with a river view. The view was beautiful and the location of the hotel was great also for walking around downtown. Our splurge was disappointing in that there was mold in the grout of the shower and in the corners of the shower and felt unclean. Also, my daughter and I both woke up with headaches from the very firm, I might say hard, pillows. The pool water was cold and had a ton of hair floating around in it. The staff was very friendly and kind but it was the accommodations that lacked for us especially for the price. I was so looking forward to a luxe stay for us.

Old and dirty and yesterday

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Old dirty and yesterday! No room service. No pantry service. No late night arrival food or service! This is a two star hotel at best. The rooms are out dated. The lobby decor is outdated! The food choices are outdated. The amenities associated with a quality hotel are Not here. Keep looking you will be disappointed.

Disappointing

This is my 4th time staying at the Amway, which is typically a great experience, especially being so centrally located. Unfortunately, we had a poor experience this time. Our room is next to construction which woke us up before 7am, our bathroom door is broken, the hairdryer only blows cold air, and the refrigerator doesn’t work (and we found out the hard way, boo for warm drinks and food we had to throw out!). Also, our room A/C doesn’t seem to work at all. We set it to 60, but it won’t blow air and is just saying at 74. Not what I expect from a pretty pricy hotel, especially when my experience has been otherwise great.

Depending on the staff, determines was experience you will have

This one is a hard review to write. The hotel has a speak easy, complete with a special code to get in. On Friday evening, we all had a blast. The waitress was nice, several other guest that we didn't know until then joined in. It was a great time. Saturday, the group was very different. They were very rude and told us we could wait outside in the hotel hall until they were ready to serve us. They were busy, but my brother-in-law said we could wait at one of the empty tables and enjoy the ambiance until things calmed down. We discovered that Grand Rapids people are very nice or very rude, nothing in between. This girl was the later. It soured the whole experience from the night before. We walked around for 15 minutes in downtown, passing the rooftop, to see only a couple of people on the rooftop. We went elsewhere, since it was obvious the place did not need our money
