About the Hotel

In the bucolic heart of South Tuscany, where the scent off the aromatic olive groves meets the briny fragrance of the Mediterranean Sea, sits L'Andana hotel, a picturesque estate lovingly restored and presented by the celebrated Alain Ducasse Group in conjunction with the architectural masterminds of the Terra Morretti Group. L'Andana sits atop the rolling hills of the countryside as a living tribute to the region's past. Set in a building that was once a summer estate of Grand Duke Leopold II and his court, the 33-room estate graciously embraces the past in design and detail, while offering contemporary facilities and amenities. Awash in romantic reds and tantalizing tans and golds, the rooms and suites of L'Andana welcome visitors with a hint of summer no matter what the season. Alternating textures of smooth leather, soft velvet, and strong wood create subtle nuances of emotion that combine to produce a romantic getaway in each intimate living space. All rooms offer views of the countryside, luxurious Florentine silk fabrics, and delightful stone fireplaces built in the traditional Tuscan style. Modern touches along the grounds, like the hauntingly romantic wrought-iron and glass Winter Garden permeate the traditional landscape, creating an intense visual experience that is both sensual and elegant.

Great baby-friendly resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

My wife and I had our honeymoon where with our nine-month old baby. I looked long and hard for a nice hotel that was kid-friendly in Tuscany, and this was the resort that kept popping up in searches, specifically the reviews. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Prior to our stay, the staff helped us book different experiences, including a day at their beach club, horseback riding, a couples massage (highly recommend this!), and a reservation at La Trattoria Enrico Bartolini, their Michelin star restaurant. We also booked babysitting for four of the days, which was an amazing break for my wife and I (€35/hour). We ate at their main restaurant La Villa for breakfast everyday, a lunch, and two room service meals. The breakfast was amazing. Staff were great and loved our baby. The breakfast spread had everything from freshly squeezed juices, fresh bread made onsite, a good mixture of hot and cold breakfast options, and great coffee. We looked forward to the breakfast everyday. The lunch and the room service meals were also great. They are a bit pricey, but the quality of ingredients and the portions are good. Lastly, this place is extremely baby/kid friendly. Upon request, they put a high chair and a baby bath in our room. They had high chairs at La Villa, and all of the staff were very friendly and accommodating to our baby. In the spa, they have heated pool that is open to babies and kids from 11:00-2:00 everyday. We highly recommend L'Andana and are looking forward to coming back again!

Such a shame

Hard to write this review as I really want to be positive about L’Andana as I was so excited to visit but our stay could have been improved in many aspects. To start with the positives, the hotel and its location is beautiful. The staff are all very friendly, accommodating and available when needed. The rooms are clean and well serviced. We had two adjoining suites in the new building which were very spacious for a family of four. The suites were linked by a dining room with a small kitchen area and fridge, which ended up being quite useful over the week. On the negative side, the hotel really didn’t offer what is expected of a five star hotel. The gym is extremely poorly equipped (lack of useable dumbbells, broken exercise bike, no bench, no chin up bar etc etc). The breakfast food was quite limited, the food to order was more or less the same as the buffet and fresh eggs to order was at extra cost. There was very little food to order around the pool and no service offered by any of the pool staff. By way of example, we spent a whole day at the pool and watched staff sitting around doing absolutely nothing all day. If they had offered water and/or drinks we would have happily ordered some!!! I have never been to a hotel with no pool service and was astounded that the hotel management choose to miss this opportunity. We used the driving range and the golf clubs available there but they were extremely old (think garage sale type golf clubs!) and the balls were so old they were almost unusually. The hotel website advertises there is a golf practice course to play but there simply is not. Sadly the whole place felt tired and unloved.

Splendid place. Happy, attentive service. Awesome pool, long enough for lap swimming. Superb breakfast. Thanks to all for making our stay such a delight. (Two hundred characters.) (Two hundred characters.) (Two hundred characters.)!

L'Andana hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

the night of my arrival July 11, there was a jazz musician with 4 guests who played very loud music in the reception area from around 11 to midnight When I called the front desk the man who did not speak English said it would stop in 15 minutes. it did not. I went downstairs, had to get dressed - and saw the musician with the guests. This was then past midnight. I do not think that in a hotel of your category you should ever do this. You made a small deduction to my very large bill. The food at breakfast was not good, the eggs underdone and the toaster did not toast. at lunch the tortellini, as a main course, was rather a small first course. the service is pretty indifferent on the whole. On a positive note the massages were excellent. I think for the huge price you demand, 600 euros a night, the hotel should be better and certainly not have loud music at midnight.

The things stolen by the staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

During a stay for my friend’s wedding from 27 till 30 of June 2024 I forgot my Dolce & Gabbana trousers on the balcony due to the early check out and rapidly leaving to the airport. Thereafter calling the front desk and sending an e-mail concerning what is left the answer was they didn’t see anything. Finally my trousers were stolen by the staff. I’ve never imagined that this could happen in such a good and well-rated property like this one.
