About the Hotel

There's an unmistakable air of Magic City in the five-star design of Mandarin Oriental Miami. Palm-shaded cabanas are just as glamorous as they are in South Beach, but with the added allure of seclusion granted by a private beach club on tony Brickell Key. Three floors of the resort are dedicated to Mandarin Oriental’s signature spa treatments, and it’s also home to the only North American location of Chinese luxury brand Shanghai Tang.

Reviews for Mandarin Oriental, Miami

Good service, best breakfast 5 star hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

My family stayed in Mandarin oriental Miami for three nights during the holiday season. This hotel is a little old compared with a lot of other 5-star hotels. But the service and the breakfast are still highlights of our stay. The service of the hotel definitely is par or better than the other 5-star hotels we have stayed in Miami. From the valet, bellman who welcomes you to check in and room service, then to the restaurant and pool side, all staff are very actively giving help and politely. The rooms are spacious enough; we had two basic rooms facing Brickell skyline and Biscayne Bay, and both rooms’ views are very nice. The breakfast buffet is very good with a lot of variety. You can also order from the menu. They have the most variety of fruits I have seen in Miami or Sarasota hotels. All are cut freshly and there is an unlimited supply. The pool is not big but even during the holiday season, it is not too crowded. Maybe because it’s more a city hotel instead of a family-with-kids oriented resort. Pool bar has good drinks and food. It has the best price fresh coconut in Miami 5-star hotel and resorts. This hotel may got demolished soon and build two high-rise tower for residence and hotel. There are multiply sales lounge and signs of residence for sale around hotel. Overall, this hotel deserves a 5 star review.

Old and dated. Tacky.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Close it down and rebuild before you ruin your brand name. Property is old and dated and while it was once lovely it’s run like a tacky old property. My room was void of towels and shampoo and bath products when I arrive after a two hour wait. The staff is super nice but they’re under a lot of limitations. The food was bad. The lobby scene loud and tacky rather than peaceful and elegant.

3 star level hotel, very old building inside and outside

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The location is nice but not outstanding. The hotel is very old, they are closing for good in May 2025. We spent Christmas Eve at this hotel, paid for an upgrade. The rooms are old but for that they are fine. The pool area is a disaster, like a bad 3 star hotel. The sunbeds are squeezed in to a small area most of them touching side by side. The staff is not 5 star level trained, long waiting at breakfast for a table. Even if your breakfast is included you will be charged for water, coffee and other basic breakfast items. We spent almost 2k and it was a waste of money. Even after complaining all you get is pointless discussion and not one gesture.

Never again!

Your hotel is tired and in need of a major refresh. The cost VS value equation is extremely wrong. When a customer is expected to pay your room rates, they do not expect to be nickeled and dimed for everything. Your staff needs a whole lot more training, 3 times I had to ask the receptionist to speak up, the housekeeping staff kept changing the temperature in the room, we had to request service of Sunday because nobody attended to the room, and they disconnected my electronics while we were out of the room. Imagine paying for what we paid for the room and then expecting me to crawl under the desk to plug in my computer. The cost benefit at an Embassy Suites far exceeds what we received at the MO.

Proper 5 star hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Our stay was pleasant. We enjoyed our experience at Mandarin Oriental. The room was clean and spacious. Bath towels are nice and clean and pressed, shows good quality housekeeping. The view was spectacular. The hotel scent is amazing. We did the free bike rental and it was cool. The spa is great, good sauna an good scent for the steam room. The pool is refreshing. There are a few improvements that can be made. 1) the bathroom fan does not work. The toilet air is stale. 2) The bedsheet smells like fried fish the first night we were there. The linen was not fresh I suspect. I was not having the best sleep because I kept smelling fried stuff in the bed. I was too tired and it was 1am when we checked in. I didnt bother to complain and change the sheets. 3) The hotel water for the room should be larger. I was not able to make tea. The tea bags were also never replenished. We also never got a coffee machine in the room. I had asked for it. It is likely because its the holidays, the hotel was short staffed. Amenities were not replenished in the room, water, tea bags, no coffee, bath robe taken away and not returned, etc. 4) We went to the MO bar one of the evening. The waitress was not very kind. Perhaps she had a tired evening. Our old fashion of watered down, and we asked for a proper one to be made, she was not happy. We didnt want to go back other evenings. All in all I love the hotel.
