One need only linger luxuriantly on the warm, white sand of the beach, gazing out into the shimmering cerulean blue of the Bay of Argolis to understand Παράδεισος, the Greek word for paradise. Perched atop the Peloponnesian peninsula, tucked away in the historic fortress of Akronafplia, Nafplia Palace Hotel & Villas is a modern-day paradise. With architectural influences from Venetian, Roman, and Ottoman empires, one look at Nafplia Palace will transport you to a time when the pursuit of pleasure was celebrated.

Went for one night to Nafplio and chose this hotel due to the location and proximity to the old castle. (at least it looks like that, despite having to walk 10 min to get to the entrance and climb 850+ steps to get up there). The hotel was easy to find using google maps. As you arrive its not clear where you should stop to unload luggage and find reception, however a staff member showed us the way and managed to smoothly check in and be taken to our room. The car was taken to the indoor hotel parking area with easy access for the guests. The room was as expected (by the images on internet), very spacious with a nice balcony and great views. Bed and pillows very comfortable, the room was very clear and amenities as you would expect. We did enjoy an afternoon coffee at the restaurant, which is indeed the best spot in the hotel with stunning views of the bay..obviously the sunny and warm day did make a difference in enjoying the terrace despite being October. Did not have dinner in the hotel restaurant but in our next visit will definitely try it as the menu looked interesting with few but classy dishes. On top, I believe live music was on for that Saturday night.. Had breakfast in the morning which was average, but enough. The location of the hotel is great, despite being in the top of the hill as there's an elevator that takes you straight to town and just a few minutes walk from the old city. Overall a good stay and would recommend this hotel in case you visit Nafplio.

Despite its faults this hotel is amazing. The architecture and the location are stunning. If you need to be Wi-Fi it isn’t for you but the 5G signal is excellent and served us well. And don’t expect 5 star facilities and service - this hotel is about the views and the peace up from the busy old town. The lift to the town is spooky but we got used to it. It is worth visiting.

Wonderful location with views to match, and very friendly & helpful staff. But… Most of the property is mothballed, with very few of the facilities as advertised on the website. I have visited many 5-Star hotels around the world and this is, without doubt, the worst one by a mile. On arriving at the main property, you are greeted by a big red 'Do Not Enter' sign and, with no one around, you wonder what you are expected to do. Intuition takes you to a grubby car park with signs to Reception. You go in a graffiti-strewn lift, descend one floor, and are met by a man who guides you to Reception. This is not based in the main building at all but is located in a sad little room among what remains of the rest of the accommodation. You pass boarded up windows, unkempt gardens, impossible-to-lie-on sun loungers, and you cannot help the feeling you have made a terrible, terrible mistake. Fortunately, we only used the hotel as a convenient base, from which to travel around the rest of Greece. Had we not done so, we would have felt trapped in our room, since there was no other spaces we could use. No lounge, no sitting room, no bar area. Nothing. It came as no surprise to discover there was no WiFi, the TVs were at least 30 years old, one of which did not work. It took 2 days to discover how to turn the lights on and off. There were lots of other issues, too many to mention here. One particular memory which will stay with me forever is the reply to my request for somewhere comfortable to relax. I was told to go sit on a chair in the breakfast room! The rooms are hugely expensive. The owners seem to be treating the property like a 'cash cow' until it eventually goes into administration, which it undoubtedly will.

We decided to splurge on this hotel without really knowing what to expect. Apparently there are hotel rooms here that are no longer open—just the villas are open. So this place has a bit of a weird abandoned vibe. But the villas are lovely, and the staff is very nice. We enjoyed the breakfast and the 2 pools. The elevator that goes down to the main town is a bit creepy, but for us it just added to the adventure. We really enjoyed our time at this peaceful hotel.

We stayed in the hotel in 2018. We loved it at the time. We decided to come back this year, the main hotel is now closed, only the villas/bungalows are available. Which makes the whole complex very quiet, an oasis of serenity. And of course there are fewer people around the swimming pools. Two beautiful, big swimming pools, well-maintained, one of them being an infinity pool. Some people say that this is not a five-star hotel. But to us, waking up every morning in such peaceful surroundings, with an amazing view of the sea and the Bourtzi, having breakfast ( beautiful by the way) on a lovely terrace opposite the Bourtzi is worth the five stars. We had a very spacious, well-appointed bedroom with terrace, perfectly cleaned everyday, and yes there are problems with the wifi, precisely because it is a large complex and the thick rustic stone walls do not help. But as we were staying there for 10 nights, they provided us with a booster, and it was fine. The switches in the room take a little while to get used to, so I would recommend people to stay for several nights, it is really worth it! All the staff are wonderful. We thank most warmly everyone at Nafplia Palace for making our stay such an incredible and happy experience!
