Stunning hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The hotel exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived late at night, when greeted by 2 lovely young male staff who made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and they organised food and prosseco for us. We had booked cosy rooms and they were delightful beautifully decorated with plenty of space and storage. All the staff were amazing throughout our stay and the little touches made a difference. I would definitely recommend and have already to a couple of my friends. Great location and easy to get around Prague from here.

Little bit of heaven…

Absolutely amazing. No other way to put it. We were greeted by the doorman while getting our luggage out of our Uber, after an incredibly long and frustrating day of travel. He quickly escorted us in to the reservation desk. No, not to stand in line at the check in counter! To the desk, where you sit down and have a glass of Prosecco while they confirm your details. Maybe the norm at luxury hotels, but not what we are used to. The property is amazing, originally built in the 1500’s, lots of amazing art, outdoor gardens and sitting areas. Quickly taken to our room, smallish by US standards but huge for an EU property! Bathroom has a full size sitting tub, which the wife quickly claimed. Later we enjoyed cheese and wine at the complementary gathering. Came back after dinner for a glass of wine and chocolate in their outdoor restaurant. We booked spa appointments the following morning ,charming area and a great massage. Only stayed two nights, wish we had more time. Worth the money, book it!!!

Very nice hotel, with a few small complaints

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Like its sister hotel, the Castle Suites, this place is mostly great, with just a few little annoyances that stop me from giving it 5 stars. I booked the Royal Suite, which, while nice, I would say is probably not worth it - from the photos, the smaller rooms actually look like they have a little more character. Also, the air conditioning wasn't working, and the curtains let a lot of light in (I had the same problem at the Castle Suites, but it was quite a bit worse there!) Probably my biggest disappointment was the breakfast - while there's a reasonable selection, I have to admit nothing really caught my eye. Having said all that, the hotel is in an excellent location and has a nice vibe, with a lot of old school charm. I do have to thank them very much for having their bellman take my luggage between their two hotels (about a 15 minute walk) at no extra charge, which was very kind of them. Overall, I would definitely recommend it!

Stayed in cosy double - anything but cosy it was huge! Attentive staff, spotlessly clean, lovely spa massage treatment and pool, breakfast to set you up for the whole day. Beautiful surroundings, courtyard garden and attention to detail. Will go back if I can!

Five-star hotel, restaurant, spa. Highly recommended.

We had high expectations for Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa, and our expectations were greatly exceeded. As others have mentioned, it s located on a quiet street, convenient walking distance from the Castle and Charles Bridge. There are many restaurants, bars, cafes, etc also within walking distance. Aquarius restaurant at the hotel is amazingly beautiful and we loved it. There is a very interesting spa on the lower level including a pool with beautiful chandeliers. The spa services were top notch. The hotel arranged tours for us of the Castle combined with Old Town, and the remarkable Jewish Quarter, and the tour guides were well informed and we were very pleased. We also recommend a tour of Cesky Krumlov which is a bit of a drive, but so beautiful and totally worth it. At the Alchymist, we stayed for a week in the Family Suite, which has two beds and bath upstairs, and a master bedroom and bath on the first floor. It was really nice, and I never slept better even with jet lag which is high praise. Moreover, there is a daily wine tasting, and the included breakfast is extensive and in the wonderful Aquarius restaurant. We highly recommend the Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa. We hope to return.

On arrival at the Prague airport we were greeted by a driver from the hotel and whisked off to the hotel - this was a great stress-free way to arrive. We were shown around the hotel, a rather baroque Central European fantasy. Our room was a Junior Suite, which consisted of a large bedroom and living area with original wooden beams, glass chandelier and gorgeous king-size bed, as well as a lovely marble bathroom. Both of us were treated to exquisite body massages and afterwards, we relaxed in the spa with its pool, sauna and steam room. We had a voucher towards dinner in the hotel's Aquarius Restaurant. We opted for a wonderful 7-course tasting menu, a nice little bit of everything! The service and staff were exemplary. In fact, the staff were the most efficient and polite I've found in a hotel in a VERY long time. The hotel itself is in a great location - just enough away from the main tourist drag to be quiet, but is still easy enough to walk to all the main points of interest.

Service, luxurious and magnificent surrounding and accommodations are very important. My wife and I set off on an eight country European summer adventure and were overwhelmed by the Alchymist staff and hotel accommodations. Our suite was magnificent and the staff was superb. The crowning achievement however was the dinner in one of the most magnificent settings I have seen. The Alchymist Grand Hotel & Spa's Aquarius restaurant is worth the trip to Prague alone. No wonder this hidden jewel is a favorite of celebrities! Well deserved and bravo again to the staff.
