About the Hotel

From the moment you arrive at the marina, a 20-minute boat ride from neighboring Tortola Island, it’s clear Peter Island Resort & Spa is no typical beach holiday. Guests have access to the entire 1,800-acre island, of which only 300 acres are developed. Hike through untouched forests or take to the sea with a chartered boat. Beachfront suites and spectacular hillside villas provide access to secluded stretches of sand that were once home to the Caribbean's most colorful characters, from Christopher Columbus to the pirate Blackbeard.

Reviews for Peter Island Resort & Spa

Did not meet expectations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I am writing to share my recent experience at Peter Island Resort, where my wife and I had stayed previously and returned after your reopening in December. While we have always enjoyed the island, this last visit left us disappointed and frustrated due to a number of service-related issues. Firstly, during my stay last week, I had an unfortunate incident with my boat at Norman, resulting in an electrical fire. After contacting the resort to book a room, I was informed there would be availability, and I was promised a follow-up call. After resolving the situation with my boat, I called again, and once more, I was told there was availability. I was instructed to proceed with booking, so I made my way to the resort. Upon arriving, the experience continued to deteriorate. I arrived in my rib and was immediately asked if I had a reservation. I confirmed that I had called ahead, but after a lengthy 30-minute wait for a golf cart, I walked into the gift shop to inquire about the delay. The staff member there appeared confused and then called the front desk. Another 30 minutes passed before we flagged down a cart on our own. This was just the start of our frustration. After checking in, it took an additional 45 minutes to complete the process, which was unnecessary and inconvenient. Dinner that evening, which we expected to be of a high standard given the price, was underwhelming at best. Despite the resort’s beauty, we were left feeling as though our expectations were not met, particularly when it came to food and service. The following morning, I was further disappointed. Housekeeping knocked on our door at 9 a.m., and as I went for breakfast, I noticed the staff was hovering outside. At breakfast, I had to repeatedly ask for water and coffee, and the waitress seemed disoriented and unprepared. Additionally, I was told check-out was at noon, but housekeeping entered our room again at 11:45 a.m. and insisted on servicing the room, which felt intrusive and unprofessional. Given the high cost of the room ($1700), the poor service and unqualified staff were unacceptable. It is truly disheartening to pay such a premium for a stay at what is supposed to be a luxury resort, only to experience these issues. I am extremely dissatisfied with the service and staff performance, and based on this experience, I will not be returning to Peter Island Resort in the future. I hope you take this feedback seriously as a means to improve the service for future guests

Fabulous romantic getaway

Incredible hideaway hotel with 5 star service, 5 star food, 5 star accommodation. If you’re looking for rest and relaxation with superb amenities, this is your place. Quentin is the assistant Food and Beverage Manager. He is from South Africa, working in BVI now for 9 years. His attention to detail is second to none.

Great location but lacking for how expensive it is

We came here with our boat and booked a dock space for the evening. The grounds are beautiful, and the pool and beach access is amazing. However there are some kinks that need to be ironed out. The service is very slow. I have been living in the islands for 5 years and I know 'island time' but it took 1+ hours to get fries. The portions are small for the price and it all comes with a non negotiable 23% service charge. 1 bottle of beer that we collect at the bar? 23% service. A cocktail ends up being $26. There's other little things too: the bar isn't open until 11:30, the pickleball courts have 2 courts but only 6 paddles, the drying machines in the laundry room didn't work, and even though we spent $280 for dock space and $250 for a massage, my friend didn't get access to the gym. We came in at noon for lunch and we were told everyone was on break and felt guilty pulling people off to order lunch and drinks. It definitely has potential but for the price, it should be 5 star.

We almost missed the Drunken Pelican - what a GREAT find! Fantastic food and amazing drinks by the pool or under the cabana ocean side. Junie, Wayne, and Chevron took such great care of our boat and group - highly recommend! Live music and festivities for the whole family.

Mooring ball in Peter Island

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We were pleasantly happy to learn Peter Island Resort had Mooring balls to reserve. We stayed on a new ball in Deadman’s Beach area. Great location. You can boo a ball using the Dockwa app. Drove our dinghy around the point that the Harbor in Sprat Bay for dinner at Drunken Pelican. Good was served as small plates. I had the goat curry, my wife had the shrimp. They were good! Not a good beer offering: Caribe, Heineken, Coors Light…no IPAs or local beers. It was a very dark moonless night as we dinghy’d to our boat after dinner. Very scary! I’d suggest they add a light at the end of the point for safety! In general, I’d go there again!
