Gili Lankanfushi

Gili offers the best experience you can imagine in the Maldives, especially in the all-important food and drink side of a stay. The setting is great, with an unpretentious beauty to the island and accommodation. The overwater rooms are very spacious and stylish, well equipped and with a unique feel. While it is not really practical to do a lot of swimming off most of them, the beach is very attractive and near to the bar and restaurants. The house reef is easy to reach by swimming or with a very short boatride to No (now restored to One) Palm Island, and offers wonderful sealife. The food offering is easily the best we have found in the Maldives, in terms of quality and choice. Instead of many multiple restaurants, the focus is on various themed evenings in the beach and overwater restaurants, plus an amazing Japanese restaurant on the other side of the island. In each, you will find the tastiest and most interesting food. The breakfasts are amazing. Full credit to Exec Chef Hari and his outstanding team, also the terrific servers such as Sanjay and Shantu: they all wanted you to have a wonderful time. We also had two superb wine experiences/tastings (the sommeliers Rohan and Rahman are interesting, enthusiastic and generous). The charming Director of Operations Florian was ever-present, ensuring that everyone was having the best experience. The true spirit of Gili is in the lovely staff, always smiling and friendly and creating the best atmosphere. That is most true of our Ms Friday Shaany who once again combined the efficient and spontaneously considerate skills of a top GEM/butler with a great sense of humour and fun. Outstanding!

I genuinely don’t have the words to describe the level of service at Gili Lankanfushi — it’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The entire resort operates as if they’re always one step ahead of you. Every team member, from the cleaners to the waitstaff to management, communicates so seamlessly that your preferences are remembered instantly and your needs are anticipated before you even voice them. A special thank you to our Mr. Friday, Tesla, who made our honeymoon truly unforgettable. He went above and beyond every single day — from surprising us with a beautifully decorated tub to creating the most thoughtful honeymoon setup in our villa. His warmth, intuition, and responsiveness elevated our stay beyond anything we imagined. We also had an incredible destination dinner on the beach, which I highly recommend. Aslam, our waiter, made the evening feel magical with his attentiveness and kindness. And a special mention to Chef Mainuddin, whose fresh fruit plates each morning became something we genuinely looked forward to. Gili Lankanfushi is more than a resort — it’s a level of care and hospitality that feels almost unreal. We’re already dreaming of coming back.

This is one of the best hotels in Maldives I'd ever stayed at. We chose this resort because of its high rating and were absolutely right - everything is perfect from the very first minute. The resort manager is clearly doing an excellent job, and it shows! at this hotel you will get stunning views, comfortable rooms, delicious and varied food, a great lagoon for swimming, and even decent snorkeling - they have a small house riff nearby

The lagoon is absolutely amazing shallow and big. The people as usual work hard and are always polite and friendly, Unfortunately this was not our favourite island. The villa concept is lovely, very open plan and very natural. There is only air conditioning in the bedroom so if you like to cool off during the day you have to sit in the bedroom , when you shower in the evening the bathroom also gets very warm so again you do retreat to the bedroom. Your balcony is not very private and If you’re lying in your bedroom with the curtains open again people can see you so privacy is not great!. We were disappointed with the food as it was not as we had expected. On a closing note we could not fault the team who looked after us they were all amazing. Fabulous time at Gili. The service was beyond amazing. Naff our Ms Friday was just the best ever : Courteous, super helpful, friendly & so much fun. Everyone at the resort was so very nice. Food was great. Villas stunning. Snorkelling extremely good. Lots to see under water. Ailam, Monica , Riyaz & Lolz and soo many others made this 60th birthday trip of my sister & me sooo memorable. We felt soo relaxed and at home. The atmosphere at the resort is so warm and cosy. I will for sure come back to Gili very soon. Such a peaceful beautiful place.
