Gili Lankanfushi

We got incredibly lucky to be assigned Villa 36, the Lagoon Villa with the best lagoon and underwater sea life on the whole island. The view completely blew us away — it was beyond my expectation. The lagoon water is so clear, the marine life right off our deck is stunning, just breathtaking. I absolutely love the resort’s natural wooden, barefoot luxury style. It feels organic, calm and not overdone, perfectly blending into the island environment. A huge, special shoutout to our Mr Friday, Bobbo. He is such a great planner. Every single day, he mapped out our schedule ahead of time. He would stop by to greet us at breakfast and dinner, walk us through what we had planned for the next day. Since we were celebrating our anniversary, he even surprised us with a bubble bath decorated with our names. Whenever we ran into any questions or small issues, Bobbo responded quickly and sorted everything out for us without delay. The service across the whole resort is outstanding. Every restaurant, spa, and all the excursion teams were fantastic. All staff members are warm and welcoming, happy to answer any questions we had. Dining exceeded our expectations too. Breakfast was lovely, they even prepared our names for the table. The dinner buffets were great, especially the Indian and Mediterranean themed nights — the food was really authentic. The whole island keeps that quiet, relaxed “no shoes, no news” vibe. Snorkeling right from our villa steps was one of our favourite parts of the trip. We would absolutely love to come back when we get the chance. This trip has exceeded every hope we had, and we left feeling fully satisfied and overjoyed with our stay.

Gili Lankanfushi Is the best Water Villa island in the Maldives. We have been lucky enough to visit this wonderful island for the fifth time over many years and never fails to deliver. The villas are spaced out in the calm, clear turquoise water where you can watch a great variety of fish. So it’s a ten out of ten from us.

It was like a dream all over again. Returning to Gili Lankanfushi feels like coming home. We absolutely love this beautiful, calm island, and above all, its unique, exceptional, warm-hearted, attentive, and caring team. And there is one thing I absolutely have to highlight about the team, this stay: the way the entire team — many of whom have by now become friends of ours — cared for our four-year-old daughter. With so much love, thoughtful little gifts (such as handmade jewellery), and incredible warmth, they made our daughter’s stay the most wonderful holiday of her life so far. It was truly heartwarming to see how much care and affection everyone showed her. This was already our fourth stay, and we will keep coming back again and again. Apart from the incredibly wonderful people, the beautiful natural island itself deserves a special mention. Nowadays, so many artificial islands are being created in the Maldives, and when it comes to nature and beauty, they simply cannot compare to an island like Gili Lankanfushi. The villas ar as beautiful as ever and soo huge (smallest villas start at 210 sqm)! The staff was cleaning our villa 2 or 3 times a day...it can not be cleaner!! As always, the food was simply extraordinary. What Chef Hari and his team create is truly hard to believe. And dining with your toes in the sand… what could be more beautiful? A special thank you also to the Spa team. After every treatment, I feel like I’m floating on a cloud. :) I am also constantly amazed by the incredible effort the entire team puts into protecting the beautiful environment of the Maldives — no plastic, natural and locally made products such as soap, recycling, food waste and so much more. The level of relaxation, slowing down, and luxury that Gili Lankanfushi offers is, for me, unparalleled — even in an absolute luxury destination like the Maldives. I sincerely hope that this unique jewel of a resort will be cherished and protected for generations to come, so that it will remain with us all for many years to come.

I have already written about Gili as a hotel in my previous reviews. Returning to Gili always feels like coming home, a home with a stunning lagoon, authentic villas, a lush jungle, and top-tier food and service. However, the most beautiful part of Gili is its people. They are incredibly kind, warm, and professional. Huge thanks to Rodrigo and the entire team for another wonderful stay. It is a rare place where every visit manages to be even better than the last.
