What makes a trip to the Maldives better? The view? the Amenities? The size of the Room? The kindness of people working on the island? Having travelled a lot in the Maldives and in the most luxurious places (Waldorf Astoria, Joali, Kani etc...) I can now tell you that when a sense of service and kindness is as high as on Gili resort, you spend an unforgettable trip. From the day you arrive to the day you leave, the whole island makes you feel home. From the double espresso you take at 11am to the gluten free diet you follow, once you mention it to one person, the whole island will remember it and make sure you always have what you need. The room is spectacular (biggest room we ever had in the Maldives), less restaurant as in Warldorf or Joali but every night a new theme for the dinner make it like you always eat a different kind of food. And what to say about our Butler, Shaany, a wonderful person, she a big part of why we loved Gili. Telling us about Maldivian culture, and always making sure everything was perfect at any time. To be honest I felt that in other resort you are just a customer that they try to milk the most possible with extras, and you can end up with a final bill of 20K, but here it's never the case. Plenty of free activities, cocktail parties, I mean you pay 2 or 3 times less then other big 5 stars name but you leave with much more memories. I will be back for sure! Absolutely superb with the friendliest hosts, magical place and incredible food. Accommodation is great cannot say enough good things about this place.

We spent two nights at Gili, and it was a wonderful stay and a truly memorable experience. We absolutely loved the resort, especially its warm and personalized service. We particularly enjoyed the no-shoes concept, which made the eco-feel fantastically relax and unique. We love the open-concept villa where we can enjoy the sea breeze all day long ! Being able to move around easily by bicycle added to the overall charm and convenience of our stay.

We are a multigenerational family with a 2 year old. I cannot fault this resort and heartily endorse other 5 star reviews. Even without a "kids club", there was plenty to entertain the little one. Stayed at another family oriented resort, so can say definitively that separate facilities aren't really necessary. I will have to return. We had villas 27 and 28. Beautiful safe water to swim in, even for the 2 year old. Fish, including reef sharks swam by frequently. Loved having just the bedroom air-conditioned. The natural breeze from the water through the villa was perfect - and seamlessly blended the indoors and outdoors. We did the half-board package, which was more than adequate, but we paid for lunches anyway because we enjoyed the ambiance. The food was outstanding. I'm now a fan of buffet dining, preferred those evenings to the set menus or al-a-carte evenings. The cocktails, while expensive for us Aussies, were up to code. Such professionalism of all the staff, and I mean everyone from cleaners to bar tenders to servers. I've never encountered such standards even at our top Aussie resorts - Lizard Island, Longitude 131, Southern Ocean Lodge. Transfers were seamless and it was much appreciated that one of the villas was available when we arrived early due to another resort sending us to Male on a 7am seaplane! Thank you to Naff, our "boy friday", who was always checking in on us and who arranged beach side drinks on the last night with a sand drawing to commenorate our stay. That was special. Also a shout out to Anu Francis at the spa who gave me the best ever Ayurveda hot oil massages I've ever had.

Villas are incredibly spacious, thoughtfully laid out and comfortable, wonderful design, use of local materials, rustic luxe at it's best. Wonderfully welcoming and friendly staff, always one step ahead to help you make the most of your stay and surprise and delight you. Great care and attention taken to personalize your stay wherever possible. Intimate and never overcrowded, plenty of space for guests to find seclusion in shared areas and a fantastic selection of activities offered. Excellent food. Cannot recommend highly enough and would definitely return.
