On the island of Saint Lucia, surrounded by nearly 200 acres of pristine rain forest trailing down to the azure waters of the Caribbean, Sugar Beach, a Viceroy Resort quietly awaits to provide guests a sweet escape into a pocket of serenity. The suites and villas, draped in a deep privacy that stems from the thick foliage of the lush forest, embody luxury with their spectacular views and amenity-rich appointments. Behind the doors of the one and two bedroom villas you might find al fresco showers, private decks and plunge pools. Butler service is also an option, allowing for mundane tasks such as unpacking bags and doing laundry to be taken care of.

I've read some of the negative comments which seem to come from visitors who were not staying at the resort. Although their experience my have some validity, my experience with the resort's employees were the opposite. They were all polite and well mannered - which seems to be traditional to the people of St. Lucia. Michela, one of our butlers, was wonderful, sweet, and personable. The resort is nestled between the Pitons, offering a picturesque view. The property has many areas to open to discovery. While Salt Wood was worth the $$$, I would say that the drinks and food at the other restaurants on the property is overpriced. The only issue that I experienced was not with the staff or resort, instead it was with the majority of other visitors who were notably cold and snobby towards the staff - as well as to us as visitors - giving it a flash from the past "plantation" feel. Overall, it was a great experience and I would visit again.

This was our second trip to Sugar Beach, and we loved it just as much as the first time. We love the beach bungalows, we had two (one for us and one for the kids) and it worked out beautifully. The service is outstanding, the spa is excellent, and this is a place that we plan to continue to visit annually. I can’t think of a better testament to how great it is! The chocolate shop is a must- some of the best chocolate I’ve had in my life by far.

Sugar Beach is an iconic resort and delivers a premium experience befitting of the hefty price tag. We spent 3 nights there at the end of a longer stay in the north of the island. We personally felt this was sufficient time to enjoy this beautiful hotel and its unique surroundings. Our room was an ocean view luxury villa (room 506). It definitely had the ‘wow factor’ and a gorgeous view. It is worth noting that the resort is built on a very steep hill, so you are beholden to using a van service to ferry you to and from your villa, which can be a little tedious. The beachfront bungalows would avoid that and are well located for most amenities, but come at the price of a relative lack of privacy. The food at Sugar Beach is pretty good, but not exceptional. We ate better meals outside the resort. Saying that, the Bonte burgers were delicious and breakfast was outstanding. Fantastic quality and choice. If you are lucky enough to spend some time in this beautiful place, you won’t regret it!

Amazing. From the moment you arrive, Sugar Beach is nothing less than spectacular. From the butler greeting to the beach and pool service, it is all first class. The restaurants are fantastic and the service really is second to none. The kids club is a must. There is no reason to leave the resort, Sugar Beach has everything you need.

I surprised my wife with a trip here in late March 2025. We both agreed it was the best resort we have ever stayed at. Everything was top notch from the service to the dining to the amenities to the facilities. And you can't beat the location and views, nestled in between the two Pitons on a quiet cove. Everything was incredible, but I'll mention a few standouts: - The daily breakfast buffet is next level. There are no many options from omelet stations to crepe stations, and they incorporate lots of local, exotic fruits with placards that explain the health benefits of each. - The reef that is right there on the property is incredible. We went scuba diving twice and the amount and variety of sea life we encountered was staggering. The guide even had a little underwater message board so he could write out the names of the things we were seeing. - Our accommodations were beautiful and comfortable, with a recently renovated bathroom, outdoor shower, private terrace, and personal pool. - The Rainforest Spa is a must visit. It is so uniquely built and very beautiful. Overall, it was incredible and we have no complaints. We are already planning a return visit.
