About the Hotel

Filmmaker Federico Fellini is considered a master of dreamscapes, and it is no wonder he drew much of his inspiration from Grand Hotel Rimini. This romantic national monument and new member of the Select Hotels collection basks in fresh sea air in the town of Rimini on Italy's eastern coast. You will have a difficult time deciding which is most impressive - the property's 4,000 square meters of parkland, its guest rooms showcasing 18th century Venetian and French antiques, or the private hotel beach on the Adriatic coast.

Reviews for Grand Hotel Rimini

close to the beach

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The hotel has a huge well tended garden. if you are travelling by car you can park it for free close by (during low season not a problem) however would have to pay extra to use the hotel parking. The spa you pay extra as well. The room was large and clean - nothing to complain about that. The steps to the hotel entrance not so great if you have a large suitcase. As it was October we didn't use the beach which is just steps away from the hotel. Bfast had a very large selection and was not pre-packed at all, like some claimed. my only complaint would be that for a 5star and for the price we would expect no extra costs for bfast (some of the items on the card were inclusive the price - others you had to pay extra).

Old charm which dreams are made of.

Old world charm, history in every room and views of the Adriatic Sea, this is the place. From the moment we entered the foyer the old vibe of this magnificent hotel was felt. Staff friendly and helpful. Our room faced the Adriatic Sea and we could see the hotels private beach and short walk across the road. The food was delicious full of flavour and fresh. There are 2 areas to dine in the formal restaurant or the bar area either place you will eat well. The hotel is also museum to Federico Fellini, you can walk around and find historical information, paintings and sculptures. These is a map which guides you to all the interesting points with in the hotel. Would stay here again.

Disappointing.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

For a 5*L this is a disappointing hotel. Looks fantastic from the outside and in the foyer. The newly renovated rooms are lovely with comfortable beds, which can’t often be said in Italy from my experience. However, it’s next to clubs and party bars which play very loud and obnoxious music until 5am. We had to swap rooms to be able to sleep. The staff just nodded when we said as if it was one of those things. Other reviews said the staff were a bit braise but apart from the reservation manager who dismissed our complaint about hearing the msn in the adjoining room singing etc, the staff are lovely. Beware rooms with adjoining doors! There was construction work going on when we stayed here so we couldn’t relax by the pool - workman watching us sunbath and the noise was off putting. The beach is lovely and clean. The private beach is not worth €85 for an umbrella although that does give you some peace and quiet. The hotel waived the fee on the second day when we complained about the pool situation. There were conferences going on during the time we were here with a conference centre on site. On our last night, the conference dinner was held outside, below our rooms with music AGAIN. The food was disappointing and not as good as expected for a 5*L hotel.

A must when booking in Rimini!

First off, the stunning architecture inside and out, will give you vibes of the old days and whisk you back to a time of small town charm and delight! I can't say enough of the decor which is matched with modern technology such as door entry and such. The staff are all absolutely wonderful. From online reservations, to the front desk, to service to culinary delights. The food is tasty and the breakfast is plentiful! The rooms have all you may need for travel and my only tips would be a) If you are light sleeper, bring ear plugs or ask for a room not facing the ocean. There are a lot of bars and it gets quite loud. If you are ok with that, no problem as you get a magnificent sea view. Also, getting pool chairs is sometimes a challenge. Get there early. I absolutely recommend this hotel as a must! Fellini comes alive! Bravo to all staff. A place doesn't become 5 star without you!

Adjust your expectations- this is a four star hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

The grand hotel Rimini has such a lobby and terrace but it ends there. The kids play room is sorry looking with minimal things inside. The beachfront is a good hike from the hotel. I disagree with the others that the staff wasn’t good. I found the staff very attentive. However this is not at all a 5 star hotel- it is a solid 4 star. If you come with those expectations then you will be better off. The rooms have the minimal necessities in them. The restaurant for lunch has good service but the food was terrible. The breakfast buffet was decent and in a beautiful room but nothing outstanding. They do have food and beverage service on the beach. They give you a phone number to call for service- no one is wandering around asking if you’d like anything. They have a kids club on the beach w a small shallow pool nearby as well. The beach is very very wide and sandy but quite a bit of refuse found on it. It is sandwiched in between other hotel beaches so not at all really private. Nearby are places to rent paddle boats etc. (not part of the hotel). There is a boardwalk with lots of other restaurants within walking distance for alternatives for lunch or dinner. The old city piazza is about a 20 min walk away.
