Summary: After spending 2 weeks that included Christmas and New Years, I concluded that this is a wonderful resort with endless activities and dining options. A dedicated entertainment team and beautiful view make the resort that much better. Detailed Review: Starting with the entertainment team. Amara was a great leader to the team. She was even helping out on her day off. Antonio was amazing with everything, including Zumba. David was fun to talk to and really made the experience fun. A solid entertainment team like this one makes the resort experience special. They had a guest professional tennis instructor on the property that led classes in the mornings. This was such an excellent experience. Other resorts should do this as well, it elevated the sports experience. Their court was nice on the roof of the building, and they also had mini golf and basketball, and 2 pickleball courts as well. The room was spacious and clean with excellent turndown service. Spacious bathroom with tub and shower, very luxurious feel. The resort felt big but nothing was a far walk. The pools were cool, I would have liked the temperature to be a bit higher, especially since the air temp wasn't that high. Only the adult pool was warm, but it's for preferred guests only. The ocean was rough and rocky, but on the far left end of the resort, we found our daily spot on the beach and enjoyed the ocean (wear water shoes). Isreal the waiter came in really handy, bringing drinks to everyone non stop. The snacks by the preferred area were good. Carnival Cafe is the go to buffet for breakfast and lunch, they're also open for dinner, but that's your only opportunity to visit the sit down restaurants, so it was mostly empty. A shame because the lobster Paella and deep fried ice cream and chicken dishes at the carnival Cafe were excellent. So many options that it was hard to choose and harder not to overeat. Unfortunately the lines for omelets and grilled foods got excessively long at times - so I chose to get some other foods instead which were just as good. At breakfast they had 2 omelet stations and a crepe station which was great. The restaurants were all amazing. I spent enough time at the resort to have been able to try everything twice. Here are the top restaurant items in my opinion. 1) French onion tart / French onion soup / Creme brulee (Mercure) 2) sticky toffee pudding (Cin Cin) 3) fried rice and honey Chicken or other chicken (Spice) 4) beef carpaccio (Capers) 5) chorizo (Carnival Cafe breakfast and lunch) Hosts / waiters that deserve a special mention: Fernando at Tamarindo - fast and professional Luiz at Spice - he led the Hibachi and was excellent, he also had good banter with the audience and really made a good show. Gerardo at Capers - very good and professional Deanna the host at Mercure - she was so good to talk to, she had perfect english and customer service skills, and it was a pleasure to speak with her. Fabiola the host at Spice - remembers everyone's names and treats everyone special, made it a treat to return here each time. Elizabeth at Carnival Cafe - fast with eggs and attentive. Jose at Cin Cin - he is the best waiter at this resort. Attentive, fast, interactive, fun. They had special dinners for Christmas and New Years that were fantastic. Lobster and steak , full service 5 course meal. All included! This was a welcome treat. The food at this resort is the best I've had at any resort. It's not just because of the food - the atmosphere at every restaurant was perfect. The new years party was also very good. Beautiful fireworks show. They put a lot of work into their events. Santa came to the resort by parachute! What a treat for the kids. They had a balloon artist, and when I say artist I mean artist. I have never in my life seen such intricate balloon designs. Full on Pikachus and mermaids and crazy designs. I was jealous of the kids! They also have different arts, but not enough space for everyone to enjoy, so go early if you're interested. String art, tote bag painting, weaving, and more, usually in front of the coco Cafe. I would call my experience near perfect, and have already booked my next stay for Christmas 2026.

Phenomenal food and entertainment!

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location right on the beach. Unfortunately there was a fare bit of seaweed, however there was a great team of staff clearing the beach daily with a tractor and shovels and they managed to clear the majority of it every day. The hotel is well maintained and clean. Our room was spacious and clean and housekeeping did a great job everyday. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, we mainly ate at the buffet restaurant as there was plenty of choice every day. The barefoot grill was excellent and we ate here most days whilst at the poolside. All staff are very friendly and polite, nothing was ever too much trouble. We were treated very well during our stay. We would definitely stay here again, however not during early March like this time. We were not aware that is was spring break in America and a couple of hundred teenagers arrived at the hotel ready to party. Don’t get me wrong, they were not disrespectful nor did I see anyone cause any trouble, but they were very loud and were drinking heavily. The pool bar and surrounding pool was completely taken over. The hotel also must have known they were coming as the evening entertainment was clearly aimed at this age group, DJ sets with loud party music. We did not stay out in the evening and opted to stay on our balcony with a drink. If we had known , we would not have chosen early March to visit and will definitely bare this in mind in the future.

The locations is beautiful Cleanliness was top and great experience. The noise level was considerably ok as it was Spring Break week . The noise was controlled in areas or kept in certain bars and pool areas. Service was 100% by Ernesto at check in , Guillermo at checkout , The best food was at Mercure and the staff there was exceptional . Thank you!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at the Spice Japanese restaurant. Luis is a phenomenal chef — his showmanship was truly top notch. Not only was the performance engaging and fun, but the food itself was exceptional. Every detail was handled with care, and it made the entire evening feel special. The entire resort staff has been excellent — attentive, welcoming, and genuinely committed to creating a memorable experience. From start to finish, we felt well taken care of. We will definitely be returning. Highly recommended!
