The restaurants lacked appealing menu items so we only went to two the buffet always had the same items a lot that wasn’t marked so you were unsure what it was we were at a dreams a year before so we were expecting the same experience will not be returning

Better than expected

It has been a while since I took the time to review a hotel/resort we went to for our vacations but this time I felt I had to. We were at the Dreams Jade for 8 days in February, including Valentine's day. After reading several negative reviews on Tripadvisor where people criticized just about everything they could, I wanted to relate a very different experience: -The hotel does not harass you into joining their fidelity program. All we got was a couple of flyers slipped under our door during the day. -Check in and check out were both quick and easy. We were staying in the regular section (not in the Preferred Club) in building 2, third floor with a tropical view and partial ocean view. Our room was clean, modern and new. Nothing dated there. -The restaurants are on a first come first serve basis (except the Japanese restaurant with the show). We ate at around 6 h 30 PM and never had a problem getting in. If you choose to eat at the peak hours ( 7 PM and after), you may have to wait a little but they give you a pagette. -We tried all the restaurants and the food was very good everywhere. Menu varied and well balanced. The food was nicely presented. -The buffet is superb with plenty of variety and daily variations for breakfast and lunch. the quality is also excellent. The food is hot when it should be; they even have preheated plates. And cold when it should be. There is less choice in the evening but it is understandable since most people seem to go to the restaurants. -The liquor at the bars is not watered down and they have higher end brands available. -Housekeeping did a very good job. Depending on the housekeeper our room was done at different hours of the day. We had a small issue and the concierge took care of it quickly. -The resort and the grounds in general are kept clean and in good condition with staff working at it constantly. -The staff is friendly and eager to help. Note: a tip is a way to demonstrate your appreciation for the service that was rendered. Unfortunately, many people do not tip because their vacation is an all inclusive ???? -The beach is not great in some parts with lots of rocks big and small in the water and out in some places. You can swim at each end of the resort: in front of the Preferred Club and of building 1 . Or you can also walk a bit and you will find a short stretch of nice beach with shallow water but you have to be careful since there is no lifeguard there and some days it can be very wavy. It is a bit difficult to take a long and pleasant walk on the beach on either side of the resort. Watershoes could be required in some places . The dolphinarium is a short walk right next door to the resort and it is a great attraction. They also seem to take very good care of the dolphins. Past that, you can easily walk to the town of Puerto Morelos. -Pools are nice with a main pool with music and activities, a kid pool and a quieter pool. -The hotel does nothing to control/manage the use of the towels. You can take as many as you like and we saw guests reserve chairs in 2 or 3 places and never show up. This is deplorable. Fortunately, during our stay we did not experience a situation where we could not sit on the beach. My wife always get up early to reserve her favourite spot. Otherwise, you can find a chair somewhere anytime of the day. Around the pools the situation was quite different. -Where the chairs and the palapas are, the beach on the right side is a natural beach with fine sand and few rocks. On the left side it is man made with big and small rocks. The sand coverage is too thin and uneven. -There is live entertainment each night and what we saw was OK.

Decent vacation on a beautiful resort

We came to this resort for a wedding. Due to all the flight delays going on we arrived 2.5 days late. Upon our arrival it was difficult to get past the front gate and once in the resort they notified us since not checking in within 24 hours we no longer had a reservation. Finally, they were able to work something out for our group but we weren’t together as we were supposed to be. The resort was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. Large, clean, and very friendly staff. I wished there were more activities promoted throughout the day. The food was amazing and tons of options. Was a little disappointed that the only late night drink option was the sports bar which was extremely loud. Etson and Javier(bartender), Sue (entertainment team), and Roberto (castaway server) was top notch staff!!

Great hotel but not for foodies!

We opted for the Preferred Club and would really recommend this if you decide to go here. The room was fabulous and so was the location. However if you appreciate fresh, well cooked food this is not the place for you. On a scale of 1-5 we rated the food at all restaurants, except for the buffet, as 1. I met with both the Preferred Club Manager and the Food & Beverage Manager who both took our concerns seriously. Unfortunately I’m not sure that they can improve greatly as this is a hotel chain which obviously focuses on profit for its shareholders. The staff were excellent and really tried hard to make our stay pleasurable. Special thanks to Pamela who dealt with customer relations in the Preferred Club - she really is a ‘can do’ person. If you visit there is a Dolphin Sanctuary 10 minutes walk from the hotel - we went every morning about 9am to watch them.
