Reviews for Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort

Marcus and Nage are the best butlers and professionals there are!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Our family vacation was amazing and in large part due to the butler experience at the Windjammer. Marcus and Nage were our butlers and the most professional and accommodating people we have ever had on a vacation. They went above and beyond, and we cannot wait to go back, Marcus and Nage made our entire experience top notch!

Huge thanks to Gordon and Jamal in the water sports team for teaching me how to sail the Hobie Cat. It was a a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed sailing in the bay. Another great activity that Windjammer has to offer. I would recommend this to everyone and anyone. Thanks Ollie.

Great Hotel But Virus Outbreak

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We’ve just come back from a wonderful week-long stay at Windjammer Landing. For the most part, I had a fantastic time but unfortunately there were let downs. The hotel is stunning and the views are to die for. We stayed in a gorgeous two bed, coastline suite with hot tub which I’d highly recommend for a family of 4. We also had a pool just outside our room which wasn’t used by many people, so we were lucky to pretty much have a private pool! Whilst our room was close to the beach, It’s worth noting that most rooms are on the hill top which has extremely steep slopes, so shuttles are required. The shuttles were reliable, although we ordered one on our final day to take our suitcases. After phoning twice and waiting over 30 minutes, we walked down the slopes with our luggage. The restaurants were all brilliant. We particularly loved Upper Deck & Papa Dons. We want to give a special shout out to Winsley, Syra & Frances who provided the most excellent service. Although we seemed to go at a particularly windy time, the beach was lovely nonetheless with plenty of water toys and activities. Lots of tasty cocktails, ice cream from Topperz & food available from Embers on the beach too. It’s worth noting, the sun-bed booking system is a little odd, and you have to reserve a sun bed for the week - you can’t just plonk yourself down anywhere you choose. However, this was randomly changed on the last few days of our trip and we were told ‘reservations are no longer needed’ - leaving us with only a few spots to pick from. There were lots of friendly cats all over the resort which as a cat-lover, I absolutely adored. Nothing beats waking up to a cute kitty on the terrace!! Sadly the holiday came to a standstill mid-way through when 2 of our party got the ‘24-hour stomach bug’ which seems to be going around. This was very nasty and we sadly missed a day of holiday to this, and were paranoid about hygiene and the other members of our party getting sick the subsequent days. Reading reviews, this seems to be pretty common across the resort, so we do believe hygiene measures could be improved significantly. Housekeeping only came twice during the week and we’d expect it at least once a day given the cost of this resort. The app lets you request a housekeeping time but this system seemed pretty redundant. With improvements (particularly around hygiene), I think this hotel could be absolutely incredible, but unfortunately it was damped by illness early on in the stay. Despite this, I still really enjoyed myself and had a great time.

We had such high hopes...

I would have loved to have given Windjammer a 5* review but, like others, until they get on top of the hygiene practices and the Norovirus outbreak, I cannot recommend a stay at this resort. We were so looking forward to a week in the sun and the first four days were utterly magical - warm sea, wonderful watersports, loads of activities for the whole family, delicious food and cocktails, beautiful grounds and a great gym/fitness classes - but that was before all 4 of us were confined to the villa with D&V. Whilst relatively short-lived (24 hours over 2 days for us as a family), the experience was horrible and it was touch and go at one point if we'd make the plane home. Having emailed the hotel twice, I have heard nothing back - a common complaint of other guests it seems. Having done a bit of further digging, the problem seems to have been widespread since earlier this year; however, despite it going on for a number of months, the hand sanitising stations were empty (and/or very sparse in number) and I saw no attempts to address the spread at the buffet. Sadly, the D&V wasn't the only problem... When we arrived there was only one bed made up for the 4 of us - not ideal after 21 hours awake with two children. It took much chasing and a few hours to get the sofa bed made up. It then took more chasing and a further day to get the extra bed we had requested put up. In general, the service is very slow. Our room service order for the children on the last evening (when we were too ill to venture out) was incorrect - but by the time they brought the correct order, it was too late for the children's dinner. Other things to note - the Italian is very difficult to book - we tried to book a 'childrens dinner time' on the morning after we arrived but had to accept an 8pm booking 6 days later. We never actually made the restaurant as we were too poorly that day. The room we were allocated was dated and a real trek up the hill. Yes, we could have taken the minibus shuttles but it wasn't the most comfortable of journeys and we didn't like the ride - so we decided to walk most of the time. We didn't get to use the hot tub as we saw a rat residing underneath it which put us all off for the week. Overall, based on the virus outbreak (many families we spoke to suffered the same), I cannot recommend a stay at the hotel. I appreciate this issue may not just been confined to the hotel; instead it seems to be a wider problem in St Lucia at the moment (I note the Government have issued guidance on it recently). Whilst there were many wonderful aspects of the hotel, the sickness, slow service, room location and balcony rat (!) hugely took away the magic of the stay. That said, if you do end up visiting Windjammer, then I can recommend the 'zip lining through the forest' and the snorkeling trips - which we managed to get in before falling ill.

It was just ok

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I would love to give this resort 5 stars. It’s in a beautiful setting with a lovely beach and pools. The staff is amazing. When we arrived, our room was clean and ready. However, from that day forward, the housekeeping was terrible. Our floor was very sandy and never cleaned. But the real problem was the lack of clean towels, hand towels and face clothes. On two days especially, we came back from our excursions exhausted and hungry. On both days, they took our dirty towels and never replaced them. We had NOTHING to shower with. We called asked for them and they never came. I finally had to go down to reception and ask for towels. They gave me beach towels. Also, if you’re accustomed to using face clothes ( wash clothes ), bring your own. They don’t provide them. Kudos to Mario and Kerson at the water sports dock! Very friendly and helpful. Also, Bedianna at the spa gave me the best massage I’ve ever had. Lastly, thank you to Kaval , for being very helpful with the towels situation. She was very kind. We would return if there was a guarantee we would have towels!
