Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets

Full disclaimer - I wasn't here as part of a romantic getaway or to explore a new destination but instead was a guest at a wedding and its different when you don't "choose" your hotel. I was delighted to attend and there were many positives at this hotel but also many very real frustrations. I'll address both in generalities but feel free to PM me if you'd like more details. We flew into Cancun and had transportation arranged to the island. We were dropped off at the marina where Impressions staff checks you in, has you sign waivers (the woman couldn't be bothered to explain - "just sign please" - so its possible she now owns my home) and seemed overwhelmed by the 4-6 guests who were waiting for the luxury catamaran to the resort on Isla Mujeres. There was no catamaran for my taxi ride over - instead there was a speedboat that zipped over the (very) choppy waters in about 45 minutes. The first kerfuffle was immediately upon arrival - no one seemed ready to meet our boat. I later learned that your butler is meant to be waiting, takes you on a tour, maybe gets you a drink and explains all about the resort. That wasn't the case for me. Eventually my cousin came to retrieve me, no one was there to take the bags and I walked off, looking back, wondering how/if mine would reconnect with me later. I was passed off to a series of butlers and finally escorted to reception where, at 5:30 PM, my room wasn't ready. After much protesting (on my part) they found me one, I took myself up (still no bags) and entered a very lovely room. The ipad was programmed with the wrong room number, my butler's name wasn't on the paper that said "your butler is" and my bag wasn't there. Several phone calls later and all was right. But this set the tone for the weekend. Wedding aside (it was beautiful), service was spotty. Wedinzon, one of my butlers, was a consistent bright spot. I asked, he answered. I was so happy to have him in charge of me. He is an exceptional service professional. But the pools and restaurants seemed understaffed and there was a lot of waiting around for...everything. It seemed like they were totally surprised to be busy but wedding guests had booked months in advance. How were they not ready for a full house? Bright spots - the room was gorgeous and quiet with striking views out over the water. Water pressure was good. Wifi was very consistent and reliable. Amenities were well stocked. Room service came quickly and was friendly and professional. The grounds, and especially the pools, were beautiful. You simply can't argue with the beauty of sweeping ocean views. I won't even try. Not so bright spots - service, service, service. SO inconsistent. And the food, too, varied greatly. Sake was wonderful as was Spezia. Pool side food was slow and mediocre. Unik, supposedly a highlight, was disappointing. Some drinks were strong, others flavorless. If I'd come to Impressions for a honeymoon or a couples weekend away, I'd have been really quite disappointed. Despite tweaking the thermostat, the room was perpetually freezing and the hot tub got warm, but never hot. There was a LOT of waiting around. For food. For a table (the hostess would disappear, return - "one moment" - and disappear again). For the taxi catamaran back to the mainland. It seemed disorganized and not well oiled. For the price point, I expected much more professionalism, consistency and care. Overall? I wasn't there for the resort. But I left, more aware of what didn't really work than what DID, and that feels like a little bit of a disappointment.

From the moment we arrived, we were swept off our feet by the sheer luxury and impeccable service. This resort goes above and beyond to ensure every guest feels like royalty. Arrival & Check-In Our experience started with a warm welcome that included a private boat ride to the island, champagne on the boat, chilled towels upon arrival at the resort, and a refreshing mocktail to enjoy during our tour. We were greeted by our butler, Weddingson, who gave us a thorough tour and explained the services, amenities, and restaurants, including information about the history of the property and art pieces on site. The check-in process was seamless, with staff anticipating our every need and making us feel instantly at home. Accommodations Our suite was a dream come true—spacious, elegantly designed, and equipped with every modern amenity you could imagine. The private balcony offered stunning views of the ocean, a swing, a private hot tub, and a lounge area, and the in-room minibar was generously stocked and replenished daily. We especially loved the personalized touches, a handwritten welcome note, bottles, and fresh bakery items. Dining The culinary offerings were exceptional, with a variety of restaurants serving cuisine from around the globe. Each meal was a masterpiece, with clearly labeled allergens and extremely accommodating chefs catering to dietary restrictions. The staff’s attention to detail was unparalleled. The cocktails were expertly recommended and crafted, and the wine was incredible. Activities & Amenities There is never a dull moment, with endless activities to enjoy—snorkeling, yoga classes, silent disco, and salsa classes to name a few. The spa was a sanctuary of relaxation, offering indulgent treatments that left us rejuvenated. Swim in the ocean or several pools on various levels of the resort, with swim-up bars and/or service to your lounge area. Service The heart of this resort is its incredible staff. They were attentive without being intrusive, always ready with a smile and eager to assist. Whether it was surprising us with a special dessert for our occasion or calling us by name on each interaction, they made our stay truly unforgettable. Overall Experience Impressions at Isla Mujeres exceeded every expectation we had for a luxury all-inclusive resort. The combination of world-class service, stunning accommodations, and exquisite dining makes this a destination we’ll return to time and again. If you’re looking for the ultimate escape where your every need is anticipated and met with grace, this is the place to be.

My husband and I were blown away by Impressions from the second we got to the Marina. At the Marina we were greeted with drinks, snacks, and a beautiful place to relax while we waited for the boat. Once we arrived to the resort we were greeted with wet towels and a refreshing drink. From there you are taken on a tour of the resort. The views are breathtaking. The resort also has an incredible spa! It was the perfect place for our honeymoon. Shout out to Wedinzon and Erick they were both outstanding. They both went above and beyond for my husband and I.

I have always been a fan of the Secrets brand, having stayed at several. But, the addition of the Impression amenities and brand elevate the already stellar experience to a new level, raising the bar for the company as a whole. The butler service was responsive, timely, and exceptional with their communication. They are a welcome addition and an excellent resource for guests. As for the hotel itself, it is gorgeous! So beautiful! But, more than that - the service of the staff is incredibly personal. A true "service with a smile," resort. And the food at the restaurants is fantastic! It's a good thing that the resort is all-inclusive, or I'd have spent all my money on food, trying as much as I could! And, while the ocean is right there for the guests to enjoy, the resort has several amazing pools to choose from for their enjoyment. And do not sleep on the adult slide! It's a great way to enjoy yourself and feel like a kid again...

I had an AMAZING opportunity to stay at this resort for a FAM trip in November of 2024. Everything about this resort from the arrival, to the food, the views, the customer service and the departure and everything in between is top notch. They go above and beyond to make your stay extraordinary! I have zero complaints about this resort and will defiantly be recommending it to all my family and friends as well as clients! I can't wait to be back on this beautiful property hopefully soon!
