Reviews for Zoetry Marigot Bay St. Lucia

Just not a 5-star resort, consistently poor service and planning.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The location is beautiful, and the hotel has so much potential. The room was spacious, and the plunge pool was glorious, but the fridge, freezer, phone, and safe in our room did not work, which was a lot to deal with on our arrival. We wasted two days of our stay making the room operational--that is really something that staff should keep a better eye on between room occupancies. We had to carry all of our valuables on us for more than two days, despite setting appointments with security (which they ignored) several times. That really diminished our experience. And we wasted so much time waiting for them in our room. Listed amenities, like resort coupons and a room butler, were also just disappointing to the point that the resort should just not offer them. The coupons were downright useless and impossible to redeem. All of the staff were light on details when it came to answering any question, and they were all clearly unhappy to be asked anything of. We did not feel pampered or even welcome for our stay. Our extra activities (which we paid for) were also cancelled without any notice. And we spent so much time wandering around trying to find things. Even for the ferry to the beach, we were directed (by the hotel staff) to the ones you have to pay for, instead of the complimentary resort one. Communication was just so poor and tedious, and occasionally malicious. We did not know what to expect one day to the next. Light on details was the theme of the trip. We were also served whatever drinks they felt like giving us, instead of the ones we ordered. They were very misleading about that, perhaps deliberately so. I stayed at the Windjammer in St. Lucia years ago, and it was a fabulous time, despite their lower star rating. So I had high hopes for this vacation, considering the cost and claimed quality, but those were dashed. The resort needs to be downgraded to a 3, I have no idea how they are rated 5 stars. The service is so unfriendly and unaccommodating. There is also really no beach there to speak of, the one you shuttle to is a barrage of noise and salesmen, not relaxing at all. St. Lucia is a beautiful place, so save your money and stay somewhere else! The staff at the spa were quite nice.

Lovely Island but the resort lacks service. No ambiance in the sleeping rooms. Food was terrible overall; we had a few delicious items but over 5 days we lost weight. Staff overall was terrible/rude/dismissive however call out to: Oliva in the Cove 5 star Joshua mini bar guy 5 star Keanua at the pool 5 star Tatiana at Chek in 5 star Rosemary in housekeeping 5 star. Every other employee we encounter gets a 2 to 3 star.

Location is STUNNING, hotel could do better...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We've just spent 10 days at the Zoetry, I'll start with the good: • LOCATION - If you want to stay inside a postcard, there aren't many places as perfect as Marigot Bay. Waking up and seeing lush greenery, calm waters, blue skies and boats every day does not get old. The location is a dream. • (some) STAFF - a few of the staff here are absolute stars. Massive shout out to Tammy and Hilda whose good vibes and genuine conversation made us smile so many times. And our housekeeper Yolande was WONDERFUL. We also really liked Allers at the restaurant, Jean-Qwon at the Cove, Tatiana at reception, Carlton at the pool and Shadrag at the beach. • DRINKS - the cocktails are fantastic and always strong, 99% of the spirits are included in the all inclusive. Now the parts that weren't so good: • FOOD - most of the food we had at the hotel was... Fine. A few good dishes (mainly the fish, which is especially fresh over there), but the rest is very standard, cheaply made stuff. The wait times at the restaurants can be a bit ridiculous - 45+ minutes for a starter to come out (and you've already waited 20 for someone to take your order). There were at least 2 things missing from the menu every single day, especially at breakfast. How does a 5* hotel run out of fruit and yoghurt for 4 days in a row?? • ENTERTAINMENT - don't expect an evening show or even daytime activities round the pool. There is yoga sometimes, and water sports if you go over to the beach, but not much going on in the hotel itself. • (some) STAFF - it's clear that most of the staff here are underpaid and overworked, they're not always the most positive or efficient which is understandable when you're dealing with demanding tourists all day - the hotel should definitely compensate them better. A couple of unpleasant experiences: on our first day around the pool (we are two women), one of the pool staff/towel guys called Ryan was very obviously staring, talking about our bodies and making lewd gestures. We confronted him about this, he denied it, and then avoided us for the rest of our stay. No apology. You maybe brace yourself for a bit of that if you go to a public beach, but not by staff round the pool. One of the restaurant supervisors, Brenda, is clearly good with the guests but we heard her harshly reprimanding her staff in front of us multiple times, creating a hostile work environment that rubbed off on the energy of the whole restaurant. There are more mild inconveniences I could list, but generally speaking, the hotel does not give a 5* experience. The beautiful location carries everything else, and the locals made our trip the memorable experience it was. Zoetry should and could be a lot better.

Great 20 year anniversary trip!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

After extensive research, we decided to celebrate our 20th anniversary at Zoetry Marigot Bay, and we couldn't be happier with our choice! We utilized our Hyatt Vacation Club membership and secured an excellent deal for a week-long stay, feeling that the value we received was well worth the price. Nestled in a serene and picturesque location, the resort's marina provided easy access to charter boat tours for exploring other parts of the island—a significant advantage. Although we had the option of a ferry transport from the airport, we chose to hire a car despite the negative reviews about the roads. To our relief, the drive to the hotel was manageable. We arrived at dusk and were promptly checked in, with the staff acknowledging our anniversary, upgrading our room, and offering us a welcome drink—a fantastic start to our stay! Our experience at the resort was superb. The all-inclusive dining options were excellent, although we skipped the rum cave due to the additional cost. However, we did indulge in the steakhouse, which wasn't included, but it was well worth it (after all, it was our anniversary). The food and service were outstanding. The hotel rooms, though a bit outdated, were comfortable. We appreciated being on the ground level, just across from the marina, avoiding stairs and enjoying a plunge pool with a short walk to the main pools and restaurants. A special shoutout to the staff throughout the hotel, especially Ms. Alison at the main pool bar/restaurant. Her drinks and warm smile made us feel welcome and allowed us to fully relax. The beach, while small, was pleasant, and at times, we had it to ourselves. The bay was bustling with boats and yachts. We highly recommend taking a boat tour to explore Sugar Beach and Soufriere and to see the Pitons. There were a few cons. The spa was underwhelming as we didn't experience any sauna or aqua therapy, which we should have inquired about. It didn't feel as special as other Secrets/Dreams hotels in the Hyatt group. The aforementioned dated room itself was more than OK, but the bathroom shower was not great, needing to climb over a tub to get in. The resort lost water for about 3 hours one of the days we were there, but fortunately, we had already showered and were hanging out at the beach. This was a minimal inconvenience which the hotel handled well. The Hurricane Hole restaurant, despite its great location and good food, had a persistent sewage smell that was occasionally off-putting. The nightlife was limited, but we didn't mind. The bar next to the rum cave offered great pizza and drinks, becoming a popular hangout spot. We attended the famous "street party" with a group from the hotel, but found that 1-1.5 hours was sufficient to see everything (Our tour was about 2.5 hours long). Lastly, the beach, while nice, is small and more of a cove. If you're looking for a large beach, this might not be the right place. However, we enjoyed the unique setting, having experienced beaches in the Caribbean, Hawaii, Maldives, and more. Overall, we were delighted with our stay, finding the price versus other resorts unbeatable. We would consider returning for a few days and splitting our time with another resort for a new experience. We loved St. Lucia and can't wait to visit again.

Offering 5 star facilities at 3 star quality

Everything is okay, not bad but okay. Not what you are paying for. We had to move rooms as the room we were given, the shower and toilet was not as advertised at all. Shower loose on the wall, tiles broken, floor boards stained with black etc. When we asked to move the hotel said there was nothing they could do as they were full, then once we asked our travel agent they managed to find another room. The food is okay... described as flamboyant and luxurious then when it comes out its missing half the things from the menu description and not cooked to the standard it should be. The menu was frequently reduced with things they kept running out of. Or you would just be given your meal with something missing or substituted. The place has so much potential and is almost there. You are getting about 80% of what is advertised across the board. Some staff are amazing. Some really not so much. The pool was busy. Beds are worn. Not in the best shape and towels run out during the day most days. The beach was okay but public so covered in people trying to sell you things at a high price they change as they feel. Its cramped and you could wait 15 mins for the ferry to pick you up to take you back to the resort. Bear in mind its a 2 min boat ride and you can see it. No way to contact the boat driver either to ask to be collected. You are made to feel everyone is trying to get as much money out of you as possible. Our friends were quoted 70usd to get some suncream and we were quoted over 400usd to hire a car for 2 days. We ended up hiring one for 200usd for the 2 days. Communication was poor, on arrival it seems every guest was told diferent amounts of information.
