Been here a few days, booked a tropical view and the room is nice. Breakfast service the first few days was lacking in the coffee, and water. Didn’t even ask if we wanted anything. Pool service is definitely lacking and when they did take your drink order, you are lucky if it turned up. It isn’t busy, girls are standing around joking with each other. Food is excellent and definitely no problem with that. Been to several other secrets resorts and had no problems at all. Will we return? Maybe. Will see how the rest of the week goes.

Back home again for our 6th year in a row. We stayed in the Wild Orchid Preferred. We had a great time the food was good the service was great the staff took care of us. The beaches and the snorkeling was great this year nice clean water to see all sorts of fish. We are already talking about booking again next year.

We had such an amazing trip! The food was delicious at all the restaurants, sometimes there were long wait times but don’t be turned away by it, stick around the courtyard while you wait. You’ll happen upon a show or event that you’d have missed otherwise. A few of our favorite moments were during our restaurant waits and on the other side of it, they don’t rush you once you sit down. It’s your turn to relax and enjoy your dining experience. I’ve never experienced a better staff! The entertainment staff was both talented and interactive, I loved Sashy and Quan’s dance lessons—I’m the worst dancer but they never gave up on me and were so kind! The bartenders were some of the best resort bartenders I’ve ever encountered. If you see Alvin at the swim up bar, grab a seat. He’ll make you laugh until your sides hurt! Renaldo created us a super tasty drink when we were having trouble deciding and a special shout out to Obrian and Shakina for A+ poolside bar service!

This place was disappointing and certainly not worthy of the 5 stars it claims. After a 9 hour flight we were greeted with numerous attempts to upsell us everything from spa treatments and overpriced dinners (we were all inclusive) to timeshare, before we’d even completed the checkin process. We’d already paid for a premium room, the most expensive of which (like ours) overlook the sea, so admittedly the views are nice, but they also overlook the main entertainment area. If you’re in one of these rooms and you want any sleep before 11pm forget it (although if you like that sort of thing, there is a good programme of nightly entertainment). The property is tired and the rooms in particular are in dire need of a refresh. The beach is man made and lacks that soft coral sand you find elsewhere in the Caribbean. This one has a lot of stones in it. I found the service to be generally poor, even on occasion quite rude and surly. We received phantom phone calls and on one occasion someone else’s room service in the middle of the night. You should expect better from a big name like Hyatt. The food at the buffet was all too often cold. On the plus side, the food in the main restaurants was of a good quality and consistently so, even if the waiter service was a bit mixed. The ladies who ran the drinks service on the beach tried hard and (literally) delivered with a smile. It’s handy for the airport, too, with a transfer time of just 20 mins.

Stayed at Secrets Wild Orchid for our honeymoon. After reading the reviews we were anxious to stay but I have to say I wonder what people expect to give this place the comments they do. It is advertised/sold as 3 seperate hotels however if staying in Wild Orchid/St.James the facilities are the same so really it’s just like one large hotel with several buildings. Room was large and spacious we had ground/garden room that walked out onto the beach. Food was nice…breakfast and dinner we ate at the buffet and there was always a large variety. Evening was Al a carte. Oceana (recommend Surf and Turf), Bordeaux (French) and Portifino (Italian) and Asian were all exceptional. Jamaican and Mexican were okay. Drinks were served well. Entertainment team couldn’t fault. Special mention to Usain from Oceana bar, young waiter but he was a delight to be served by. Beach was nice, complex was nice and well maintained. Gym facilities were good plenty of equipment and machines. Opening times for everything worked well. For excursions we used an operator Ordain from outside of the hotel as it was a fraction of the price. He was fab, we left our bank card in his car which we wasn’t aware of but he messaged and he brought to us. The hotel offered is $150 off an excursion and this was still higher than outside operators. Highly recommend for excursions +1 (876) 275-3869 Negatives: Mislead into a sales pitch that wasted 3 hours of our morning. Be wary!! Staff are great. Some go above and beyond more than others but they were all polite and pleasant. Some do however really push for tips here which after 11 nights started to become an issue as it started to get too much as it was constant. Same music day and night from the entertainment team and Pace Band so it does get a little like ground hog day. They do put 100% in regardless. Costs in the spa/shops/taxis and excursions are extortionate if through the hotel. I’m shocked they can charge what they do. They also sell dinners/wine which is no different to what you get through the all inclusive. I would recommend going out of the hotel for these you will get it all for half of what the hotel charge. There are local shops in walking distance. Hard to get tables in the entertainment area at night. Unless we ate at 6pm there was always a wait for the restaurants. Swingers - this seems to be common when we have visited the Caribbean and it is each to their own. We didn’t however appreciate a 67 year old woman and her husband prying on every couple they could in the pool. Flashing their privates, groping and telling people they had slept with their butler in the preferred club. This is not the behaviour I would expect from people or staff at this kind of resort. As much as we had an amazing honeymoon we would not come back at the cost it is sold at. It was nice but for the cost you can get much better. We had a better standard at the Royalton and other similar chains for half the price we paid for the Secrets.
