A return visit did not disappoint with no damage noticed from the summer hurricane. As before the tennis program with both visiting American coaches and the local coaches was excellent. It was good to meet players who had been there the same week last year and the return rate for guests says a lot for this resort. The sports facilities are outstanding. Food and drink were of good quality with ample variety and service uniformly prompt. We found staff to be friendly and helpful with a special praise for the on site resort nurse who is very professional and caring . The included water sports, boat trips and sports coaching make this a good value for money resort with something for everyone.

We had a wonderful experience in our first stay here. We’ve been to 20+ all inclusives including Sandals, Barcelo, Hard Rocks and Couples Negril for comparisons. We found Swept Away a completely different experience and vibe. So laid back, relaxed and casual, it is perfect for a do nothing, go no where, sit down and relax get away. No bold, loud, extravagant pool party atmosphere, no high pressure sales tactics, no rush to get beach loungers, pool side chairs or restaurant reservations (outside of feathers and lemon grass) and the wait without a reservation was short, 15 minutes? Just calm, peaceful serenity. The average mixed drinks were ok, 7/10, not great cause the booze itself was mediocre; the generic spirits they use are definitely not as good as top shelf spirits you may be used to and the house wine is $7/bottle quality but hey, life is what you make it. The food overall was pretty good, 8/10. Sure I had one pork chop that was a little gristly on the end but anyone who says the food is no good here is an arrogant, obnoxious and self entitled snob. These chefs are amazing. Best mashed potatoes I’ve had in my life, and the soups are divine. Fresh fish cooked perfectly, chicken and steak, rice noodles and pasta, salads, seriously there was so much delicious food the one thing we didn’t like was irrelevant. Plus, eating outside in open air at a beautiful restaurant with a different revolving menu was incredible. It was so quiet we could hear the ocean from our table as we ate, and our patio at our room at night. And those patios are a heavenly bonus. We had battery operated tea candles to light it (and the room when the power would briefly cut out) but didn’t really need them, there’s just enough indirect light to see around at night. There are outlets on the patio to run lights on the guard rails there too. And the hotel grounds are gorgeous and lit up beautifully at night, walking the resort at night is safe, comfortable and serene. Checking in at the airport, transportation to and from the hotel was a breeze, 2 hours or so, and the staff are wonderful. All in all money well spent. So if you’re looking for an exciting, adrenaline boosting, party till you drop experience go somewhere else. If you wanna unwind and relax and walk a truly fantastic beach and talk to your partner, then read a book, swim or float or kayak or sail, maybe play tennis or pickle ball or snorkel or scuba or do nothing at all and nobody cares what you are doing because you’re doing what you want to do and nothing else, this is your place.

“A vacation is a chance to recharge your soul, so you can return to life with fresh inspiration." My husband and I come to couples swept away to reconnect, unwind and untangle before going into the new year. Couples swept away is our favorite place. My husband loves the beautiful tennis courts, and the pros that help him improve his game. We love that our friends also come here, and all the new friends that we’ve met here from far away places. For me, just ability to relax and disconnect has been enough, until this visit. This visit, I took advantage of the personal trainer in the gym. It is included in our stay. I spent five mornings with Trevaun, working and learning all about the gym and equipment, and learning more about myself. My spirit was lifted and I found strength I forgot that I had, and somewhere there I was inspired to run a 5k in the reggae marathon that is held every year Negril. The last time I ran a 5K was over 10 years ago, and I walked some of it, and although I am fit, I haven’t run more than a mile and a half since then. The morning of the race, we all gathered before the sun came up, the energy was amazing. So many beautiful people coming together, a reggae band playing at 5 AM, then once the race was started, the sound of sneakers on the pavement was all you could hear, with the exception of the occasional cheer from the sides. Not only did I run the whole 5K, I finished second in my age group. I can not thank Trevaun enough for his instruction and inspiration. Couples swept away should be proud to employ such a mature and charismatic young man, And I hope Trevaun understands how he inspired me to believe in myself and my abilities. I also have to mention our housekeeper Fiona, I am grateful for her blessings every morning. She is a beautiful soul and I cannot wait to see her again next year.

We arrived around 7:30 pm to the Couples Lounge at Sangster International Airport on Nov 16,2024. The lounge reception was friendly and we had a few beers from tap while waiting for our transfer. We were told that bus was almost there and went outside to wait but it was a good 45 minutes before it arrived. We should have been in the lounge waiting and not standing outside at the curb. The ride was about an 1 hr and 45 mins to the resort. The bus did a pit stop so we could use the facilities along the way. We checked in and were given room 4302 in building 11 and our friends were placed on the other end of our resort so we requested to move closer to them and that was accommodated the following day. Thank goodness we were able to move as room 4302 was so close to the road that I was awakened at 5 am by loud road noise and unable to fall asleep again. There is no way I would have wanted to spend a week in that room. The next day we checked with customer service and they said the room switch could take place at 4 pm. We told customer service that we wanted to be present when our belongings were moved. We were told that resort policy was that employees would not touch purses or open beach bags only suitcases during a move. We reiterated that we wanted to be present during move and that was agreed upon. We also left a Do not disturb sign on our door. By the time we walked to back to our room for the move all of our stuff was gone to the new room - including my purse with passport and cash! So much for company policy! The next day when we were going to the beach I couldn't find my RayBan sunglasses. I checked lost and found 3 times and went back to the old room but they were nowhere to be found. When I reported the loss to customer service they did not seem fazed. When I got home I reached out to the VP of Loyalty and Customer Care about the incident and was told that they would look into it but that was 9 days ago and have not heard back. Replacement cost CAD $ 231.65. A word to the wise - one person should always stay with the luggage in the lobby or at the room if the other person needs to go to reception or vice versa when arriving, moving or leaving the resort. Use your room safe for all valuables at all times. Other than that we were moved to room 401 and it was up 2 flights of wooden stairs but it was like a tree house. It was very lush outside our room and little noise from the road. We were close to The Palms which was a very good buffet with tasty food and lots of selection. The menu changed on a nightly basis and there was always some good evening musical entertainment there as well. Beach chairs were a challenge on a daily basis as many people got up early or left their stuff on the chairs from the day before. The shady stops were always taken when we got the beach and we had to look for empty chairs with a cushion and drag them around so we could sit together. The cushions were also floatation devices but some people wanted a dry cushion for their chair and a wet one to float on so a few times we had a beach chair but no cushion. We did the sunset catamaran cruise one day and enjoyed that. We used the gym facilities a few days and enjoyed the juice bar after our workout. We walked down the road from the resort to the Hi Low shopping mall for a few things. The glass bottom boat ride was at 9:30 am only so we did not make it to that. And wanted to snorkel but the last few days of our stay were a bit turbulent so it was cancelled. We were at the resort for our 10th wedding anniversary and the day after our arrival the resort had a power outage for the afternoon so I was unable to make an a la carte reservation until late afternoon. I was told that Feathers was fully booked for the duration of our stay and I was also told that I could only book an a la carte 24 hours in advance so if that was the case then how could Feathers be fully booked for the week? I was able to get an a la carte for Lemongrass and it was good. I went back to the front desk the next day to see if I could get into Feathers for our anniversary night. I was again told that they were full but when I pushed a bit and advised it was our anniversary all of a sudden we were able to get a reservation. The restaurant was not full during our time slot and there were quite a few servers as well. I liked the no tipping policy and let me explain that a bit further as we do and did tip anyways. I have found in the past at many different resorts that service was slow and inconsistent if you were not there with a tip in your hand every time you ordered a drink or coffee etc. The fact that the expectation of a tip was removed and then a tip instead became something to be earned made for a better service experience in our opinion. We were generous and discreet with those who gave us good service and to those fellow travellers that had the audacity to comment about us tipping should have minded their own business. Have a heart - these people working at the resort are not living to the same standard in life that we are. Overall we had a pretty good time at Couples Swept Away. However we would not return as there are so many other resorts and destinations to experience and this was the first time in 20 years of travelling to all inclusive resorts that my property has gone missing and no timely feedback from the resort regarding how this happened. Hence the 3 star review.

Nice resort on a beautiful beach. All of the rooms were within a minute or two walk from the beach. Our room was very nice. Everything worked well. Our fridge was stocked with the beverages we asked for, it was cleaned daily. The food was good. House red wine was the best at any all-inclusive resort I have been at (Yellowtail). They recreation facilities a short walk on the other side of the highway, were very good including many tennis courts (hard and soft), pickle ball courts, yoga and bike studio, 7 lane lap pool and open air gym. The gym is why I gave the resort 4 stars instead of 5. The cardio equipment was in bad condition. They have 4 Cybex Arc Trainers. Only one partially worked (you couldn't adjust the stride) and the others not at all. The upright and incumbent exercise bikes were also not fully functional. When i asked the staff about the condition of the equipment they just said that with so many people using it the equipment gets worn out. Well yah, that's what happens and you have to stay on top of it and fix things!
