A lot of things to like about this resort, but it is definitely a bit rough around the edges as it is under construction and seems to be many months out from being complete. But can be a great time as long as you’re expecting those rough spots (as we were based on reviews we’d read on here). Pros: —Beautiful grounds. Lots of wildlife around the resort, the adult pool was relaxing, and the other pool with the waterslides was fun. —Great service from wait staff, especially Victor at the pool bar. —Drinks and food were all good. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet selection and the Mexican restaurant in particular. I don’t know what they put in the margaritas at the Mexican restaurant, but they were some of the best I’ve ever had. —The beach was nice and not too crowded. —The on-site cenotes were very nice. Definitely recommend the cenote-to-sea snorkel that the resort offers. —We stayed in a newly renovated room. The aesthetic was nice, the bathrooms were huge, and the beds were comfortable. Cons: —Despite being a newly renovated room, there were leaks in two places in the ceiling, which constantly dripped. One was in the closet and the other in the bathroom. They were in out of the way places, so easy to avoid, but not great nonetheless. —The AC throughout the resort failed for a couple of days. It made for some pretty warm nights although, being December, it wasn’t terrible. —The rooms don’t have any storage other than a closet with a few hangers (i.e. no dressers etc.) so we ended up having to live out of our suitcases/ stack clothes along the edges of the room for the week. —Despite being in the main building and just a few steps from the lobby and bars, the WiFi signal was not strong enough to use in our room. In my mind, the grounds, food, and service outweighed the poor construction quality of the room, and I think this can be a fun spot for vacation as long as you go into it with those expectations.

Facility (2+ stars as of this week): Lots of issues while they are under construction and transitioning to Kimpton. I would recommend coming later in 2025 after construction is complete and they have gained some experience under the new Kimpton management structure. Air conditioning did not work for a few nights. One of the restaurants was closed for construction so our food choices were somewhat limited. The only reason I’m not giving them grace while under construction is they are charging the new all-inclusive rates as if the construction was already completed. Frankly, this not right given the construction related issues we experienced. Reservations (0 stars): The staff grossly overstated the daily all-inclusive fee initially, which sent me over the edge. They quoted an about 3x higher than what I normally pay. I found out much later that what they quoted was completely inaccurate for my membership level, which was a relief. However, they still should not charge these new rates until after Kimpton takes over. I believe that is not until Match 2025. On site Staff (4+ stars): The best compliment I can give is about the staff. Special shout out to Victor, Humberto, Javin and Abel who continue to provide great customer service in their roles!

You must attend the Sense Adventure at Hacienda tres Rios. An amazing experience in a beautiful setting, I did it alone and it really put me in touch with myself. The sounds, the aromas, the music and the environment were all beautiful. I would highly recommend it!

My wife and I took the four-night package in August and really got our money's worth! The service from the entire staff was phenomenal. The nature activities, including biking and kayaking through the terrain and rivers, are not to be missed. The beach was beautiful. The complimentary wind surfing boat ride was very special. The quality and quantity of food available was amazing and I am a NYC food snob! And the top shelf liquor was always available! I could go on... Visit this property!!
