UNICO 20N 87W - Riviera Maya

Stayed here 12/10-12/17/24. This was our second time here. The first was during their grand opening. The check in process is longer than it should be. When we say we’re not interested in a timeshare, we’re not interested in your membership either. Also, we were asked at rapid fire where and when we would like dinner reservations for the next 8 days. I have no idea I just want to get settled! Sheesh! Our favorite workers (that I can recall names) were Tomas at the Italian restaurant and Saul and Anderson at the 2087 bar. Our butler Eduardo was very helpful also! We LOVE Mexico and the people there and will always return. Unico however needs some work. The place is very dated for being seven years old (mainly the outside). The pools, especially the quiet pool, need major maintenance. The lobby isn’t our favorite and the restaurants, while very good, need a menu overhaul. Plus the reservation requirement is annoying. The beach is beautiful but not much of it and we prefer the huts rather than umbrellas which need to be closed when it’s windy. Oh, how could I forget. The workers at the clothing store down from the lobby. You all are annoying as hell. You pretty much stalk people and made us feel quite uncomfortable. My husband tried on swim trunks and a shirt and the associate was giving her opinion. No one asked for it believe me. They all lined up at one point and were making comments staring at us. They really need to get a life. Will return to Mexico but will stick with Secrets resorts.

The service was phenomenal especially our butlers Israel & Roger the most amazing butler service we ever had, the food excellent our favorite restaurant was the Mexican the was excellent, room service was great always asking us if we needed anything else, pool service was excellent we hadn’t finished our drink and they were bringing the next already

Outstanding resort with the most friendly staff Special thanks to Eduardo who was a most attentive and efficient personal host . Overall 5 stars .The food was exceptional at all the a la carte restaurants. Choice of activities was also very good.

We had an awesome time at the hotel! The staff was super friendly, the food at all the restaurants was delicious, and they nailed every little detail. We're definitely planning to return soon. Big shoutout to our host, Aguirre, for taking such good care of us.

A Relaxing and Wonderful Stay at Unico Resort in Cancun We want to start by expressing our gratitude to the incredible staff at Unico Resort for their warm, friendly hospitality. From the moment we arrived, everyone went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. We especially enjoyed our dinners at The Grill and the Italian restaurant—both provided excellent food and service. A special mention goes to Rolando at The Grill, who took care of us with exceptional attention and friendliness. The filet at the Italian restaurant was absolutely the best we’ve had—highly recommended! While most of the food was fantastic, we did have a couple of minor issues. The fish tacos on the beach tasted like they were made with frozen fish, and when we had steak at the Mexican restaurant, both my wife’s and my steak were served cold. We did mention that we were celebrating our anniversary, but unfortunately, nothing special was done to acknowledge it, which was a little disappointing considering how thoughtful the staff otherwise were. Additionally, we had an issue with housekeeping. On two separate occasions, a maid entered our room despite the “Do Not Disturb” sign being on the door. It was a bit unsettling and something that should be addressed to ensure guest privacy is respected. One other thing we noticed was the excessive number of caution signs placed throughout the resort. While safety is important, it felt a bit overdone and detracted from the beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. The resort itself has such a relaxing, laid-back vibe with a “zen” feeling that makes it easy to unwind. The beach has been absolutely wonderful, and we spent a lot of time enjoying the beautiful scenery. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be to heat the pools—it would have made it easier to spend more time in the water.
