UNICO 20N 87W - Riviera Maya

Just visited Unico again after 4 years. I was very disappointed by the lack of attention there is to cleanliness. Stairs to go to the rooms are always full of the Coatis poop & urine. There are signs everywhere that say do not feed the animals yet the staff is feeding them the leftover room service food all day long. The bathrooms all around resort were not kept clean There is no premium liquor included. The liquor on the shelf is awful. If you want something better there is an extra charge beyond reasonable price. They make up for it in the food quality. Exceptional food & service in every restaurant. Although the breakfast buffet’s service was awful every day. The check in process took about 2 hours even though the reception was fairly empty at the time. No welcome drink was offered. You go through 2 different people trying to offer the sales presentation. We did agree to it for the following morning. Supposed to be 90 minutes & it turned out to be 3 hours even though we kept telling them we were not interested. 24 hour room service was excellent & quick. The pools are beautiful. If you are a beach person this is one of the most beautiful, clean, white sand, clear water beach I have ever seen. Overall we had a great time with our friends but this is by far NOT a five diamond resort. The award was from last year & don’t think it will receive one for 2024. We travel to Cancun about 6 times a year & will not be returning to this hotel.

My Neice had her wedding there and it was BY FAR the BEST wedding I have ever been to. The attention to detail and service was exceptional! The pool, beach, food, bars, and club is great! We had 86 people attend and it was a great long weekend! Def recommend

The staff was amazing. They truly want you to have the best experience from the check in, to dining, to beach and pool side service all the way to check out. You get a local host to guide you through your stay and make sure everything goes smoothly. We highly recommend requesting Eduardo LH, he is amazing! All of the restaurants are reservation only and have their own unique cocktail menu. Our favorite was Mura House, the Japanese restaurant. Jacob our server there provided the best service we have ever experienced! Thank you Jacob. Cueva siete the tacos and salsa are to die for. Mi Carisa the la donna drink is so refreshing. We absolutely loved getting our daily coffees at cafe Inez. I will say the desserts were lacking flavor through out. Our favorites that did have flavor were the tiramisu from Mi Carisa, the lemon pie from cafe Inez and apple tart from room service! 24/7 room service was very convenient and fast! The pool side service was hit or miss, either one person always checking on us or not seen for a couple hours. Drinks and food brought to your spot on the beach or by the pool made you feel like gold status. The daily room service and nightly turn down service was so refreshing to come back to a clean and tidy room. Over all we really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!

The food and drinks and staff were all wonderful- which for an all-inclusive isn't very easy to come by. Our room and amenities were beautiful and clean. Our only complaint was the check in process was a bit long and involved too many people. But once we were past that, it was very well worth the money.

Beautiful all inclusive resort . Many choices of food and drink. Exceptional and truly amazing staff. Love the ambiance of the rooms. Love the location. Visited for a long weekend for a family destination wedding. Would love to return for a full week in the future. It’s very affordable and not overpriced. You’re treated like you spent a million dollars! Tipping is not expected but certainly appreciated. The wait staff, bartenders and waiters really go the extra mile to serve you and make sure you’re taken care of. They work their butts off with a smile. We made sure to leave a daily tip for housekeeping as they do a wonderful service. We also left tips for bartenders and anyone else going above and beyond. Which was mostly everyone. The staff is truly wonderful and gracious.
