Reviews for Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya

Nothing special.

If you are looking for a resort with entertainment or things to do in the evenings, this is not the place for you. There is no beach for walking or swimming - only a small cove of shallow water that is not very clear. There is a big pool which was great and they do offer some activities like yoga and aqua fit. The staff are lovely.

Great place to go (even though the site is very small)

Excellent service (staff was amazing), the food was really good (no reservation needed, that's +++). A lot of activities and the site was really clean. I recommend you to do the bike tour, it was really great and beautiful.

Great for families

This is a great resort for families with small children. We have (2) 6 year olds and a 12yr old who we felt comfortable letting them run around between the pools/beach/cafe. The kids club was excellent. The game room was lacking significantly. Over all the resort is pretty and clean. There were no issues with our room at all. Staff were great. Berenice went 100% out of her way to help me procure Easter candy that I had forgot back in the states. The food was great everywhere except the buffet as we felt the options there were very lacking. The pool is small and we needed to get up early just to get 2 chairs. The alcohol choices were very minimal. At other Dream's resorts, there was a definite liquor/beer upgrade, especially with the preferred club. Here they were out of a lot. Sometimes if you went to a different bar, you might be able to find something like Aperol or an upgraded vodka, but it took me 4 days to find it and no one went out of their way to suggest another bar to look for it. It's not a major deal, but something we definitely noticed.

They’re dreaming if they think it’s more than a 2 star.

I’d like to start off by saying this was our third trip to this hotel and we’ve been to several other Dreams hotels in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. After a long flight and drive we arrived at 10 p.m. to a very loud reception area. Music in lobby with lots of yelling, someone was having fun. Unfortunately you couldn’t hear the check in people so we were over 30 minutes checking in. We rushed to find a restaurant open so we could eat before trying to relax. Rooms: hit or miss on cleanliness and towel replacement, if you need a third towel, good luck, almost impossible, 3 days of asking to get one. Forget turn down service, only once out of our trip. Yes we left a tip daily hoping for better service. Didn’t even get the little towel animals. Beach: counted 35 chairs of which 4 were broken and some others really tired. By 7 a.m. they were all taken. After a couple of days we learned to tip the “chair” police and had chairs the rest of the stay. Drink service was very good, our server ran her feet off trying to keep everyone in drinks, she definitely earned her tips. The volleyball court was that hard even a bocce ball didn’t leave a mark in it. The water is very shallow which is good for little kids but useless for older people, deep spent was shoulder deep. Restaurants: not all are open each night which left long lines to get in, if you’re not waiting for them to open expect 45 minute wait minimum. The food was hardly edible, cold, tasteless, the steaks in the Oceana had the texture of tofu, and were cold. With the exception of the Asian restaurant which was very good they were terrible, cold, tough, pasty, and overall tasteless. The worst food we ever had in a all inclusive. Entertainment: very limited area to watch the shows, usually help by the premium pool area. The performers were energetic and trying to give us a good show. The trade show has changed form last time we were there, now there is only a few vendors in comparison. As with all it was buyer beware. We will not be returning to this 2 star in my opinion resort, there are much more places to spend our money.

Puerto Aventuras Family Friendly experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Our family had an amazing experience at Dreams Puerto Aventuras during the Easter holiday. The hotel was fully booked, but despite the crowds, we had a fantastic time. The amenities were great, and the activities were fun, though there was one afternoon when it rained, and for quite a while, there was a lack of things to do. The food was good overall, though the afternoon buffet at the World Café could be improved. The highlight of our stay was definitely Valentin at the Mexican restaurant—he did an incredible job. Thank you so much, we may try it again on a different season
