We had a fabulous family vacation! Great resort for kids. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Our nine-year-old son had the time of his life! If you enjoy staying wet when you’re hot, and if you can, spend the extra money on a swim-up room. Guadalupe at the spa was fantastic! You’ll need bug spray:)

We stayed here beginning of October and were left very underwhelmed/disappointed with the resort. We almost left the resort 2 days earlier to move to a different area. Dreams is marketed towards couples & families, but we felt the whole stay it was WAY more of a family resort. We enjoy quieter resorts with people around our age (late 20s-early 30s) and this was not the case. We upgraded to preferred and felt like it was pointless. They put us on the family side by the kids pool, and the preferred pool itself isn’t even adults only. There were 0 adults only sections in the resort. The resort is also EXTREMELY pushy for any type of sale/upgrade. We had to avoid eye contact with lobby staff to avoid getting trapped in another sales pitch. Cons - The resort is super dated - Food genuinely sucks (every restaurant and buffet was basic and bland) - Room service ends at 10:30 PM - No 24/7 food options (even if the coco cafe is advertised as 24/7) - Restaurant schedule is super confusing - Service is hit or miss depending on the day (one day we were at preferred pool, no one came up to us even if there was 4 staff just standing at the bar) - Pools are not clean - Beach area is unswimmable - Try to upsell you on EVERYTHING any chance they get (spa, timeshare) - NO Adults only sections Pros: - in Puerto Aventuras gated community, safe to walk and rent a golf cart around. - App was ok to use All in all we wouldn’t stay here again. It’s an OK option for families looking for a budget stay, but this is definitely not a 5 star resort. This stay also let us know to stay away from Hyatt/Secrets/Dreams locations. Super disappointing but lesson learnt. Felt like we spent half the time dodging all the upsells, and the other half leaving the resort to get decent food.

This resort is beautiful and not to large which suited us HOWEVER we were VERY disappointed with the fact there was NO evening shows /performances…. We know it was a quiet part of the year but we have been to many other resorts and some kind of show is still put on. The food was VERY limited - generally only 2 out of 5 à la cartes were open each day and in 2 weeks the buffet was only open 3 days- this made our meals very repetitive as we do have picky eaters. Breakfast at the main buffet was abysmal but was much better in preferred lounge - though MEGA repetition as was same food EVERY Day. I love Mexico but personally we won’t return to this resort as the main things we want from our holiday where a major let down.

The location was no problem to us as a family, but if you had young children its another long journey from the airport after a long flight from the UK. The atmosphere was very calming and relaxing and good place to unwind. The rooms were varied in size, we went as a family of 6, 3 rooms that overlooked the pool and the beach, could fault any of it. Always cleaned and fridges restocked. Out of season this was extremely good value for money as this was out of season, at the hight of the season it could be very different again. The hotel was clean inside and out and restaurants were kept very clean. No noise what's so ever, only on rainy days when everyone came inside and hung around the foyer, there could be plenty of other areas to go to to keep people entertained. The service again was very good no complaints. The amenities were very good, but it would be hard to keep younger children entertained if you were staying for more than a week. There was only one downside to the holiday, and this maybe the time of year. The mosquitos were everywhere, we were bitten everywhere, more so in the evenings if hanging around in the foyer. I believe the hotel could of done more to fumigate the areas, they did say they did it in the afternoon, but we only saw this happening the once. All in all, a very good holiday.

Our stay at Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya was disappointing. It rained for much of our visit, which was outside the resort’s control, but the food, drinks, and dining options fell well below our expectations for an all-inclusive resort. During our stay, only a couple of restaurants were open for dinner. One was so crowded that we couldn’t get in, leaving us with a cafeteria-style option where the food was very poor. The drinks were disappointing as well. To make matters worse, the phone in our room didn’t work, so we couldn’t call to order room service. The resort needs to improve its food and drink quality, restaurant availability, and basic room amenities.
