Reviews for Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya

Overall good, but could use some improvements

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 hours ago

Just returned from a 7night stay at Dreams. This is the second visit we have had at Dreams. I will start with the positives. The rooms are top notch. Floor to ceiling panorama views are spectacular. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are well appointed. Choice of pillows and great room service and housekeeping. The staff is second to best. They are amazing, attentive and just make the stay overall wonderful. The coffee shop is a real delight. Great drinks and snacks throughout the day make it a quick and easy break for a drink or snack. The spa is very nice and overall the resort has all the amenities you could want in an all inclusive resort. I also liked that they have a staff dediated to cracking down on people that hold or save chairs all day. He takes photos and after 45min he will move the chair hoarders so that people who actually want to be in the pool have a place. The negatives: The pools.. We upgraded to have access to the preferred pool but it was very crowded everyday and it's small so it was hard to find chairs and enjoy the pool becuase it was overcrowded. The larger pool is well laid out but out of the six days we were here the pool was shut down for two days due to people letting their kids swim without diapers and pooping in the pool. It is a real bummer to have a pool shut down for 5plus hours two of the days we were there. Everyone then crammed into the Preferred pool which is frustrating because you pay extra for an ammenity that others just sneak in or bypass. They don't have writsbands here so people can access these preferred areas pretty much unchecked. The lagoon was brown all week and nobody was using it for swimming. I understand nature is unpredictable but the neigboring resorts both had lagoons that were clear and full of guest enjoying the ocean. With our lagoon unswimable it left little options when the large pool was shut down. There are two water features at this resort. A slide and a drop slide. The drop slide was closed indefinitely. I would think they could put more urgency to fixing these slides and working on the lagoon, and large pool. It would be nice if they had another pool or cleaned up the lagoon. Overall, this is a great resort. It's small and compact but has all you need.

Just returned home yesterday. Here is a very honest review. Some fantastic, some average.

Just returned yesteray. Spent several hours looking at reviews prior to booking so I put value in good honest reviews so... First, the resort is small. Thats neither good nor bad just be aware. Getting there is a little sketchy as there is ongoing costruction on the main road entering but shuttles manage fine. First, lets start with the positives. The staff at the preferred level was absolutely first class. Very helpful, cheerful and willing to assist. Shout out to Emilio, Gustavo and Romeo up front especially. All three were great so if you go, find them. They will make your visit special. The preferred lounge is very nice too. Staff alwys cheerful and its a nice place to cool off and have a drink, Second, the spa is world class. Take advantage of the hydrotherepy and the 50 min relaxation massage was incredible. Highly recommend the experience. Third, Portofino and the Mexican restaurant were both really good. Unfortunately the other restaurant didnt open so we had limited choices but we enjoyed these. Challanges: Hotel AC has a tough time keeping up with the summer temps. Plan on having your rooms stay above 21 deg C. Avoid falling into the timeshare trap. The offer to show you the other 5 star property down the street with a free breakfast and two massages is time share. If you can say "no" its not a terrible way to spend 5 hours but dont believe the 90 min presentation time frame. Lobby area is busy. Its really the only place people hang out in the evenings. No bad, just different. Preferred pool service is slow. Understaffed. The 2 ladies at the pool do thier best but they need help. We expected more for the preferred level. Overall, based on years of travel in Riviera Maya I would say its a strong 3 star resort. Resort is dated and you can see that they have been trying to get it up to accceptable standards however the staff makes the difference. Only reason we would consider returning is because of the staff. Now its your choice.
