We stayed at Dreams Adventuras and had a very mixed experience. BEACH: The beach is small and protected by rock barriers, so there are no waves. This also means no seaweed, which is a big plus--but no real ocean feel if you enjoy jumping in the waves. Definitely pros and cons here. FOOD: The food was a major disappointment. Considering the price we paid, we had much higher expectations. The Japanese restaurant was by far the best option. The buffet had a few edible items, especially at breakfast. Another major downfall was that the restaurants were often closed during their scheduled hours. There was no snack bar after restaurant hours so if you missed dinner the only option was room service (only good option is club sandwich and fries) or to go off resort. We spent way too much money at the sports bar down the street, especially considering we paid for an all inclusive package. ENTERTAINMENT: Extremely lacking. There were people on the beach and at the pool doing Zumba and a few nights there was a small band in the lobby but I'm talking nighttime shows, beach BBQ's, foam parties. None whatsoever. LOCATION: The resort is located in a gated community and felt very safe. We had no issues walking around the resort day or night and always felt very secure. ROOMS: This was a highlight for us. The rooms are spacious, modern and very clean. the housekeeping staff is doing an excellent job and deserve real credit. STAFF: Most staff were friendly and helpful. I loved that Jorge always remembered my drink order. He got me on mango margaritas and I was obsessed all week. ELEVATOR: This was a huge issue for me. We got stuck in the elevator on our first day at the hotel. We dropped down 2 floors and then remained trapped for 25 minutes in a crowded elevator with 5 other people. It was extremely hot and generally a horrible experience. For this reason we took the stairs up to our room for the rest of the trip and I'm not sure when I'll be comfortable on an elevator again. The only compensation we were offered was a free cabana, which we had rented the day before for $6. OVERALL: Great rooms, cleanliness and safety -- but the food, lack of entertainment and restaurant availability seriously hurt the experience. This resort may work if you prioritize quiet, clean accommodations and plan to eat or entertain yourself off-site, but I will not return. I don't feel it was worth half of what we paid. We were with a large wedding group and most of our group shared the same opinions.

This is my third visit to this resort but the first since the renovations and change to becoming a Hyatt property. We booked the preferred club marina view and are situated on the 5th floor where the views are spectacular of the marina, ocean and preferred club pool. This is a boutique style resort with a maximum capacity of about 600 guests (302 room). We are one week into our stay of 16 nights and have been spoiled again by the excellent food at the à la carte restaurants (no reservation required), the barefoot grill for lunch at the ocean beach side, and the dedicated concierge and club lounge in the preferred club area. In particular, the meals at breakfast at the Oceana restaurant are very tasty and you can order whatever extras you like (such as bacon with your chicken and cheese tortillas). Julien is awesome and makes a super mimosa and they serve fresh squeezed orange juice. For dinner, we have particularly loved the Portofino restaurant with superb service by Antonio with a huge smile and sense of humour. My favourite restaurant dinners so far have been at Oceana which is the seafood restaurant. Their clam chowder, shrimp tacos and seafood fettuccine are wonderful and their salads are terrific. I have to commend Leonel for his careful attention to detail and helpfulness. I have allergies (to anything in the hot pepper family - yup….and love travelling to Mexico…yikes!) and he made sure that I had a separate plate made for the poolside fire show when the menu was was a BBQ all featuring traditional Mexican dishes. I felt well taken care of and did not need to stress over the potential of having an allergic reaction. Thank you! The best experience is the dedicated concierge Myriam at the preferred club who assisted us with a ton of requests and who is such a lovely person. Yesterday, she was making a beautiful custom door band for a family with a little girl who was coming to celebrate her one-year anniversary of being cancer-free. What a thoughtful and wonderful human being. We share waves going by her office area every time we head to marina side. The absolute best person that we visit often and definitely for a nightcap before heading back to our room is Amando in the preferred club lounge. The lounge is wonderful with appropriate timed food from breakfast through 10:30 pm, including some hot food, cold cuts, fruit, bread choices, and deserts. Amando is the bartender/server there and is one of the happiest, friendliest, warm people I have met. He is super interesting, speaking several languages and is a terrific representative of the resort. The accommodation is spacious with a very comfortable king sized bed, sofa, desk area, huge bathroom with a shower sized for a family, and a lovely balcony! Lots of pillow selections. The housekeeping staff are thorough and the room is very clean. All in all, I highly recommend this resort and suggest that choosing the preferred club amenities are well worth the price. Enjoy your own visit to. Dreams Puerto Adventurous (Dreams Adventurous Riviera Maya).

Incredible resort. I would go back in a heartbeat, especially with young kids. Small, safe and so clean. Can't imagine a better staff.
